  1. The right to repair is about empowering
  2. consumers, promoting competition, and
  3. extending innovation. It can be a key
  4. driver of growth and prosperity. Right
  5. to repair fosters consumer choice and
  6. freedom to enable consumers to protect
  7. their investment and extend the lifespan
  8. of their product and devices.
  9. It is a fundamental consumer principle.
  10. Many companies have a long tradition of
  11. aftermarket products. I'll take for
  12. example if you have a CJ Jeep. There are
  13. so many places you can buy so many
  14. parts. And in fact, the mystique of that
  15. World War II derivative product and its
  16. success and longevity of more than half
  17. a century relies on the fact that you
  18. can not only buy a new vehicle today,
  19. but you can buy a 40 or 50 year old
  20. vehicle and there are plethora of parts
  21. available.
  22.
  23. That same company markets other products
  24. that today they would have you believe
  25. you should not have the same choice you
  26. have in that iconic vehicle. We've had a
  27. lot of discussion. I want to try to
  28. bring a couple of items back. I talked
  29. earlier about two authentic parts that
  30. are not able to be put together without
  31. a third party tool.
  32. Of the five of you, does anyone defend
  33. the authentic parts bought and paid for
  34. by one or more individuals from being
  35. continued to be used used and put back
  36. together somehow as a right of the
  37. manufacturer to prohibit? Yes. Anyone?
  38. Mr. Hartsline, I had a hope hope that
  39. you might.
