  1. Education is the backbone of any developed society and having a well educated workforce is critical to maintaining a strong economy. Further to this having more of the population with a higher education vastly increases social mobility and enables people to become the best version of themselves possible. As such the Green Party remains committed to keeping higher education free for all who desire it. We wish to get the most out of every student throughout their time at school too. To achieve this we will ensure that children in primary school education do not have to go through the stress and pressure brought upon them by exams. The necessary exams taken by students studying for GCSEs will be spread over two years, rather than in the summer of their final year at secondary school. The Green Party will never segregate students as this limits the potential of students left behind. Therefore we would look to provide further funding to state schools to enable them to achieve the same level as public schools. To achieve the small class sizes we desire we would commit to providing further funding for people wishing to enter teacher training. We would also look to vastly expand school infrastructure, helping to provide jobs in the construction industry. To combat any looming obesity crisis we would mandate at least two hours of physical activity a week. We would emphasise physical education to help to create a fit and healthy generation which places less burden on our NHS.
