- <DragonHunter>: [well?]
- <Reverb>: [aight]
- <Reverb>: The city of *coughcough*, home to the S-Men.
- <Reverb>: We start in a firing range, run and managed by the local police force.
- <Reverb>: It is a simple place, colored blue and grey. Some weapons adorn the wall behind the counter, where an officer, in full uniform, stands.
- <Reverb>: Despite being police-run, civilians are allowed in this place. And S-Men in particular use this place as a training ground, at least for those whose powers aren't physical in nature.
- <Reverb>: Every edge is needed in combat, after all.
- Wrong_Way is determined this time to actually pick up a gun and fire it.
- <Greene>: [loogs]
- <Reverb>: http://mibpaste.com/enC69K ]
- Greene makes his way in casually, used to this kind of environment and activity
- DragonHunter walks by and decides to drop in. Even pros need practice
- <Reverb>: There were six rows of targets, each at varying distances. The clerk was always at attention. Never know what kind of person would show up here.
- <Reverb>: He looks at the Dragon Hunter and Greene with a hint of familiarity.
- <Reverb>: "Welcome to the *coughcough* Firing Range. I imagine you are here for a session?"
- <Greene>: "That sounds about right"
- <DragonHunter>: Obviously. What do you have?
- <Reverb>: "Alright, we use the same gear our officers would."
- <Reverb>: "In regards to pistols, Heckler & Koch, HK45 model, and the SIG Sauer P226."
- DragonHunter rubs his chin
- <DragonHunter>: A little too fancy, no? I'll take the sig.
- <Greene>: "I'll take the HK" he looks back at Mark "First time here?"
- <DragonHunter>: Look at his trigger discipline. He never shot a gun before, I bet.
- <Wrong_Way>: "Uh...I got a gun held at me once?"
- <Reverb>: "A newbie, huh? We don't judge here. Take a gun, and choose an aisle."
- <Reverb>: He pulls back a drawer, taking out one of the SIG, and two HKs, placing them on the counter.
- Greene takes his weapon with practiced ease
- DragonHunter takes the gun and spins it, a force of habit
- <DragonHunter>: Just once?
- <Reverb>: "Stay here as long as you wish to."
- <Greene>: "I've been on the team with him, he's probably just talking up close. He's been shot at more than he'd like to admit"
- <Reverb>: "Alright, new guy, we've got an officer on hand to assist you."
- <Wrong_Way>: "That's helpful, thanks.."
- Wrong_Way looks at the remaining gun on the counter nervously.
- <Reverb>: The officer approaches the counter. "It ain't gonna bite ya, ya know."
- <Wrong_Way>: "Right."
- <Reverb>: The officer at the counter presses a button, and the glass shielding each aisle opens. "Don't forget your goggles or earmuffs, you two."
- <Reverb>: "Even pros gotta follow some rules."
- Greene nods, putting on the gear.
- <Reverb>: The other officer taps Mark on the shoulder. "Ready to begin?"
- Wrong_Way takes a deep breath
- <Wrong_Way>: "Yeah, I guess so."
- DragonHunter puts on the earmuffs and goggles
- <Reverb>: "Righto. Name's Hikaru. If you're ready, just grab the gun. I assume you know how to hold one, right?"
- <Reverb>: The targets hang about a foot away. On the barrier separating the range from the shooters is a dial, the word "DISTANCE" written above it. All of them are currently set at 1 foot.
- <Wrong_Way>: "I guess, like in the action movies right?"
- DragonHunter loads the gun
- <Reverb>: "Yeah, not exactly. Movies play it up a bit. Tell you what, show me how you'd hold a gun."
- Greene readies his aim
- Greene once he's gotten his bearings, lowers it and turns to the dial
- Wrong_Way slowly reaches for the gun and holds in both of his hands.
- <Reverb>: The dial has marks on it, from 1 to 6. Beside it is a simple button marked "PRESS TO FINISH".
- <Reverb>: Hikaru looks at Mark, shaking his head. "It's... close. Get your forefinger away from the trigger, to start with."
- <Wrong_Way>: "Okay.."
- DragonHunter sets the dial to 3 to warm up
- Wrong_Way moves his forefinger to the side of the gun.
- Greene turns the dial to 2, deciding he'll practice hitting the same exact spot from different ranges and slowly increasing
- <Reverb>: "Better." Hikaru says, nodding. He ruffles Mark's hair, pointing at an aisle. "Let's give firing a go, shall we?"
- <Reverb>: The targets whirr as the move back. On them is printed a standard male silhouette.
- Wrong_Way moves over to the aisle where Hikaru pointed to.
- <Wrong_Way>: "Wow, I'm actually holding a gun..."
- Greene raises his gun and fires, hitting dead center on the throat. He turns to the dial to turn it to 3.
- <Reverb>: Greene's target moves back further, a hole where the throat is printed. Hikaru approaches the same aisle as Mark. "Right, before you fire, make sure to keep yourself grounded. Recoil can do some damage."
- DragonHunter closes his eyes and headshots the target by memory
- Wrong_Way nods and he adjusts his stance.
- *** DragonHunter is now known as Night
- <Reverb>: "Yup, that's good, feet grounded, shoulders steady."
- Wrong_Way rolls his shoulders and then moves them to feel more comfortable and steady with the gun.
- Greene fires once more, he hits the same spot he did before and turns the dial to 4
- <Reverb>: "Alright then, ready? If you are, fire." Hikaru says. Greene's target moves further back.
- <Reverb>: "If you want, I can up the difficulty now?" The officer at the counter asks Greene.
- <Greene>: "Sure, do it" he says back
- <Wrong_Way>: "Firing...right.."
- <Reverb>: The officer at the counter presses a button. The target on Greene's aisle begins to move left and right.
- <Reverb>: "Nervous?" Hikaru asks.
- <Wrong_Way>: "Kind of."
- <Wrong_Way>: "Uh, where should I try to aim?"
- <Reverb>: "Depends. Most first-timers would be aiming for the center, the biggest target. If you wanna try your luck, go for the head."
- Greene steadies his aim, as the target moves into sight he fires, hitting the spot once more
- Wrong_Way decides to be like most beginners and aim for the center.
- <Reverb>: "So, once you've got your aim, pull the trigger."
- Wrong_Way moves his forefinger to the trigger and squeezes it, instinctively closing his eyes as soon as he feels the recoil.
- Greene turns the dial to 5
- <Reverb>: The target continues to move left and right as it moves further back.
- <Reverb>: The recoil is there, but admittedly not very strong. At least, to an average adult. It's not exactly gonna blow you off of your feet, so no worries.
- <Wrong_Way>: [i know, mark's just a pussy]
- <Reverb>: Mark hits around where the target's heart would be.
- <Reverb>: [I know man, just saying]
- <Greene>: pfff
- <Greene>: ]
- Wrong_Way opens his eyes to see he's actually hit the target.
- <Wrong_Way>: "I-I...did it."
- <Reverb>: "Yup. Nice shot, kid."
- Greene fires once more, this time hitting slightly left of the mark, but still nearly dead on
- <Wrong_Way>: [sometimes i wonder why i named mark mark]
- <Reverb>: [the limitless puntential]
- Wrong_Way tries aiming again at the target's center and then firing again.
- Greene turns the dial to 6, the last one
- <Reverb>: The target continues to weave left and right, sliding back as far as it can.
- <Reverb>: Mark gets closer to the center of the target. Still slightly above and to the right.
- Greene fires 4 times in quick succession, one hitting dead at the head, one at the heart, and two to the throat. One of the throat shots manages to hit.
- <Wrong_Way>: "Man, I think I'm getting better at this."
- Wrong_Way aims one last time at the target's center carefully and fires.
- <Reverb>: "Yup, sure seems like it. Want to widen the gap?" Hikaru asks.
- <Reverb>: From behind him, Greene can hear a whistle. "Nice one."
- <Wrong_Way>: "Uh, sure?"
- <Greene>: "Its just practice" he says back in his usual calm tone, he turns around to see the man who said it
- <Reverb>: It's not a man, but a woman. She smirks, "It's always practice, ain't it? You humble types."
- <Reverb>: Hikaru nods, turning the dial. The target moves back a foot.
- Greene takes off his earmuffs. "Gotta keep from getting rusty is all"
- <Reverb>: "We all do, don't we? I don't believe I've seen you on the force. Hannah Maus."
- Wrong_Way aims once more carefully at the center of the target and fires.
- <Greene>: "Robert Greene. Actually work with the s-men, if you've heard of them"
- Greene remembers a few months ago not even being let in here or anybody talking to him, he'd have to practice with his own setup due to unlovability
- <Reverb>: This time, Mark hits dead center. Hannah nods, "Yeah, you the school way back on that hill?"
- <Greene>: "That's the one"
- <Greene>: "You with the force?"
- <Reverb>: "Yeah, I'm with the force."
- Wrong_Way feels pretty good at hitting exactly where he wanted so he decides to take aim at the head of the target.
- <Greene>: "Well, pleased to meet ya Hannah"
- <Reverb>: "You're pretty good with that gun, Rob. You have any training?"
- <Reverb>: "Remember to keep steady, kid."
- <Greene>: "I did. Got a military grade education back when I was in my teens. Not affiliated with the same guys anymore, but I kept what I learned"
- Wrong_Way fixes his shoulders again and his stance and then fires at the head of the target.
- <Greene>: "Been thinking of joining the force proper, but the s-men program currently has me locked"
- <Reverb>: "Fair enough, I understand. Duty first, right?"
- <Reverb>: The bullet strikes the head of the target.
- <Greene>: "Yeah. My talents aughta go somewhere, and I'm doing good work out there"
- <Reverb>: "Good to hear."
- <Greene>: "What brought you into the business?"
- <Reverb>: "Just needed somewhere where I felt my talents weren't wasted."
- <Wrong_Way>: "Woo! I did it!"
- <Reverb>: "Nice work, kid." Hikaru smiled.
- <Greene>: "I hear ya. How're things going on that?"
- <Reverb>: "They're goin' fine. I'm a pretty good officer, and, well, this place is usually quiet. Usually."
- Wrong_Way puts down the gun on the counter and takes off the earmuffs and goggles.
- <Greene>: "Yeah, sorry about that. Sometimes business with the s-fellas spills over into your lane"
- <Wrong_Way>: "Man, that was so cool! I thought I was gonna shoot my hand off first before I actually shot the target."
- <Greene>: "Ya do good, Mark?" he says over to the obviously happy looking WW
- <Wrong_Way>: "Yeah! I was so scared at first, but then I actually got to hit him the chest. And when I aimed at the head, I actually hit it! It was great!"
- <Greene>: "Glad you had fun, maybe learned something"
- <Greene>: "I'll take you here next week, sound good?"
- <Wrong_Way>: "Sure."
- Greene smiles, heads over to turn in the gun and gear
- <Greene>: "We should talk again sometime, Hannah. You seem a nice enough sort"
- <Reverb>: "Sure thing, Rob." Hannah nods.
- <Reverb>: The officer at the counter takes Greene's gear, putting it away safely. "All trained up?"
- <Greene>: "For the day, just wanted to get in some practice before heading back to my work. You set Mark?"
- <Wrong_Way>: "Yep. Man I can't wait to tell my parents..."
- <Wrong_Way>: "...Wait, should I tell my parents?"
- <Greene>: "Nothing to be ashamed of, learning how to defend yourself"
- <Greene>: [crying eagles in the background while greene eats an apple pie]
- <Wrong_Way>: "You're probably right."
- <Reverb>: "Right then, see you two soon."
- Greene nods and starts to head out
- Wrong_Way follows after him
- <Wrong_Way>: "Hey Greene, do a lot of chicks go to shooting ranges often?"
- <Greene>: "The police ones do, and others who got interests for other reasons. Wouldn't exactly say its common"
- <Greene>: "Why are you asking?"
- <Wrong_Way>: "I dunno, I thought maybe I could bring a girl here and maybe show her how the Markster can handle a gun?"
- <Greene>: "Depends on the girl, but I'd say go for it" he laughs a bit "Looking to impress, hmmm?"
- <Wrong_Way>: "Maybeeee."
- <Greene>: "Sounds like a plan then. You'll need some more practice, of course."
- <Wrong_Way>: "Oh okay..."
- <Greene>: "Can't just fire a gun once and say you're a pro. You have to work at it"
- <Greene>: "But when you are, then you'll be impressing"
- <Wrong_Way>: "Cool..."
- <Greene>: "And you might be able to hold your own on a mission better. I don't even use powers anymore and I am still on the team because of it"
