- I remember those summer days
- Those summer days we’d hang out together
- Going everywhere and anywhere under the Sun
- I remember those summer days
- When the days were long
- The nights were short
- And we had time to kill
- I remember those summer days
- Where we’d spend hours at the beach
- Walking along the sand
- Building sandcastles as tall as we could make ‘em
- And surfing ‘til the waves took us down
- Only for us to try again
- I remember those summer days
- Where the whole gang and you and I would spend our time together
- Where nothing’d worry us at all
- And laughter bellowed from us all
- I remember those summer days
- Where we made out in the backseat of the car as a black and white horror film played
- Where we stared at the stars in the night sky
- And hugged each other tight
- I remember those summer days
- When my brothers and I would race each other in our cars
- We’d do all sorts of things and drive at insanely high speeds in the night
- Loud music blaring through our cars’ speakers
- As we drove with only winning in mind
- It’s a wonder we weren’t killed
- And yet
- I remember those summer days
- When I’d have to study
- Those were always the least fun to have
- I honestly kinda hated ‘em
- But I had to do ‘em
- Still, it sucked when I’d see my friends goofing off and having fun
- While I had to stay indoors and memorize a shit-ton of flash cards
- I remember those summer days
- When we’d wrestle amongst ourselves
- And act like we were on WWE even though we were a bunch of snot-nosed tenth graders
- I remember those summer days
- When we’d chill in my room and listen to some music
- Playing album after album as the time went by
- And the smell of bud filled the room
- I remember those summer days
- Where I’d just stay at home and sleep
- Watching the day go by me as I lazed in luxuriant carefreeness
- I remember those summer days
- Where we’d skate a while and do some tricks
- And look at the cute girls passing by
- I remember those summer days
- And I wish that they’d come back
- I wish that more than anything in the world
- I remember those summer days
- As I sit here in my office job
- Consulting and preparing all day long
- How I wish I could go back to those days where my boss was the waves
- I remember those summer days
- And I remember you
- You were my first love
- And I don’t regret the time I spent with you
- I remember those summer days when we were young
- But I’m married now and my life is different
- Part of me longs to see you again
- Hell, part of me would love nothing more than for those summer days to be my life again
- I remember those summer days still
- Because those summer days were days that we grew
- Because in those summer days, it felt like we would live forever
- Because those summer days were the lives many would wish to live instead
- I remember those summer days still
- But the thought of seeing you and everyone else again
- Is almost more than I could bear
- Things have changed so much in the years since those days passed us by
- I remember those summer days
- And I’m sure you do too
- And though we cannot date each other anymore
- My love for you remains
- I remember those summer days
- And though I at this point am growing older
- And though things aren’t as easy as they once were
- And though I’m starting to realize that I am older and life is shorter
- I look at my wife and my children and the life we’ve made and I’m content
- I remember those summer days
- And though I myself can’t go back to them anymore
- I see my son, who’s also around the same age I was then
- About to head out to surf with his friends
- For I know he loves the waves
- He’s loved ‘em since he was little
- I remember those summer days
- And though my time has passed
- I hope my son can have his own summer days to look back on
- For if he has those summer days to look back on
- I will be a very happy man
- Not only for my sake, but for his sake too
- For he will have those days’ memories to pass on to his kids
- And to make him a better man
- I remember those summer days
- My son’s friends’ and I have met
- And I am happy with him
- For they remind me of my friends at his age
- It feels as though my son will make his own memories
- I remember those summer days
- When new memories are made for my son to carry on
- I will feel that the best thing to do is to spread those memories as far as they can be carried
- For what are memories but the gatherings of a life lived?
- I remember those summer days
- And I remember you all
- And as my son carries on my love of surf
- I hope those summer days can keep on going
- I miss you all
- But the memories we made
- And those days we lived
- Will never die so long as we have life to live
