- Now, I'm not sure how you got to this thread, but if you are a Reddit regular, you may have noticed my low karma, just bear with me here.
- So, I just want to start off by saying this is by no means an advertisement. In fact, after my experiences with the server, I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole. There is also no "legal" intentions to take any action against anyone involved. I am simply stating my experiences with the server and it's staff, just like a Google Maps review. There are going to be positive and negative reviews, unfortunately, mine is the latter.
- Now that's over with.
- Backstory
- I started off on the server as everyone does, walking around wondering what the hell to build with you creative perms. Eventually, I make a camping ground and invited the whole server. The whole server turned up 9bar the police). I had the wonderful idea to make everyone pick up Chesters, found a gang, and invade Seattle and the Prison with around 18 people in a convoy of buses, Jeeps and a few helicopters. This conquest went on for a while, and then I decided to make it official. A full steam group and Discord server for my now relatively large clan, with around 20 players in a few hours.
- Obviously, server police do not like being overthrown, and even though we THOUGHT they knew it was a joke, from the fact that we were literally only using Chesters, to the chaotic screaming in VC, I suppose we were then put on the wrong side of the police and staff.
- We kept quiet after that, ran the airport and did Airport RP, Security RP and everything in between. No crime, no rule breaking, nothing.
- The actual start of the problems
- One day, I logged on at about 6 am, I was chilling around the map with about 4 of my guys, when another guy wanted to join. So, as most clan leaders would, I gave him the link to my group on the sign. I then TP'd away and forgot about it. Permanent ban for "advertising". Now maybe this kind of makes sense, leaching off other people's work is obviously not respectful, and is straight up a bit of a dick move, but this was different. To be fair, the advertising ban may be harsh, but compared to other servers, who punish players for weeks for KOS, Modern did hand down a reasonable 90-minute ban for this, and shorter bans for other offences. I made my clan in the server and the whole thing was based on the server, so it wasn't really advertising as giving a link to someone when ALREADY wanted it. I thought it was unfair, so I talked to the banning admin and he got my situation, reduced my Perma-Ban to 6 hours, which I thought was generous. 6 hours later I got straight back on and nothing really happened until a few days later.
- Fast forward to that few days later, I'm chugging along with my airport RP, around 7 of my clan online, helping me out. A few people come to the airport asking to join the clan, I say "Hey, why not" and place down a sign as everyone does, to avoid posting the link in chat. Obviously, I enjoy the server, as I had no intentions of being banned again. I pasted the link on the sign and the guy joined, no problems. Then, a few minutes later I posted a PSA:
- "Anyone landing at Chester Airport, please announce your takeoff and landing to ATCC"
- As I said, I took over the airport. A few planes landed, came and went, then, thinking I copied the PSA, I CTRL+V'd into the chat window and pressed enter, not bothering to double check. I posted the Discord link. I immediately realised my mistake and said "OH SHOOT" in the chat, and made sure to make the link invisible to the general player base, unless you scrolled up.
- Perma-Ban, advertising
- I talked to the owner, Modern_Mo. This is the only name I will name beside my own, as you can find the name of the server owner, but not some guy that had a chat with him. He said, "I'll give you a choice, take it or leave it". Obviously, I have a group to run, and enjoy the server, so I am enthusiastic at a way out. He says that if I delete my group's Discord server, I can keep running the group on the server, and I will be unbanned. Obviously, I jump on this. I give an invite link, let him become owner, and let him delete the Discord, I'm ready to be unbanned.
- No, no, no, you naive little numpty. Not today.
- "I have consulted with the admin team and we have decided that you are permanently banned, no appeal" - Modern_Mo
- I am then banned from the server Discord and sent on my way. I was lied to my face by a guy that appeared to me as respectable and fair. He owned a full set of servers after all! This was all said in voice chat, which I guess was smart on this part, and dumb on mine not to record it. I really thought I could trust this guy, I had run-ins with him in the game many times and he never seemed like this. Straight up betrayal.
- The aftermath
- Now I'm perma'd. I accept that. But Mo is out for blood. Half of my clan is banned for variable amounts of time, some from only the Discord, some from the game server. Obviously, the bans are evidence of this, you can see that they cannot join the Discord, and the game server clearly states the banner and the time. I encouraged my clan members to stay away from the server, and most did. Most. I had no problem with any of them going back, there was nothing against them. Except for that, there was. According to Mo anyway. This hyperlink leads to a screenshot taken of one of my clan members being threatened by Mo, who had done nothing wrong.
- Anyway.
- I want to know if I am the needle in a haystack. Has anyone else had bad experiences with ModernRP? Please tell me! Either reply to the post or feel free to add me on Discord: Tawtis#9000
