  1. "Sayori I'm here!" I call out into the festive looking house as I step inside. From around the corner Sayori walks in wearing her usual home attire plus some small Christmas socks.
  2.
  3. Sayori walks up to me with a smile and lunges into a hug, wrapping her arms around my neck.
  4.
  5. "Anon you're here! Did you bring a movie for us to watch?" Sayori says happily
  6.
  7. Yeah I did, I brought my favorite Christmas movie." I pat the bag at my side.
  8.
  9. "That's great! I have mine too!" Sayori pulls back from the hug and looks at the sweater I'm wearing. "What's this sweater Anon? I've never seen it before."
  10.
  11. "I've had it for a while but I just never wear it around you. I figured tonight would be the night to wear it though"
  12.
  13. "Wait, what does this say?" Sayori says as she takes it by the bottom and pulls the fabric taut to read the letters better. "Now I have a machine gun ho-ho-ho? Is this from one of your animes Anon?"
  14.
  15. I chuckle at the thought of anime Bruce Willis and respond.
  16.
  17. "You could say that, now let's start this movie night with what you have." I take her by the hand and we head to her living room.
  18.
  19. Judging by the DVD case sitting next to the TV, Sayori has picked out A Charlie Brown Christmas for us to watch. It's not a surprise of course, that was always her favorite. Sayori reaches for the remote and turns the TV on, revealing the DVD menu for Charlie Brown.
  20.
  21. "I know you've seen this one a lot, but I just never get tired of it! It's so cute..." Sayori pushes her pointer fingers together and pouts.
  22.
  23. Chuckling at her cuteness I respond. "It's fine Sayori, I could watch anything if I get to be next to you."
  24.
  25. I lift Sayori up and spin her around as I take the few steps to land on the couch, bringing her down next to me, getting a playful laugh out of her.
  26.
  27. "Thanks Anon. Now let's watch!" Sayori exclaims as she pressed play and pulls a blanket over us, nuzzling up into my side.
  28.
  29. The movie gets going and I let the nostalgia wash over me as I remember all the times I watched this movie in the past, many of those times with little Sayori. The movie is over quite quickly as I get absorbed into memory, and because it's only 30 minutes long. Refocusing my mind, I realize that it's almost time for me to negotiate my movie choice with Sayori.
  30.
  31. "That was fun, show me what movie you brought Anon!" Sayori says as she ejects the Charlie Brown disk.
  32.
  33. "Well..." I search through my bag, pulling out the DVD case I need. "I brought my favorite Christmas movie too, it's called Die Hard."
  34.
  35. "Die Hard? That doesn't sound very Christmas like..." Sayori gives me a suspicious look. "What's it about?"
  36.
  37. "It's about a guy who reunites with his wife at a Christmas party despite some...obstacles!" I say, conveniently omitting the shooting in between. "It's a really heartwarming tale about family and staying together in the face of greed."
  38.
  39. Sayori's face seems to lighten. "Awwww that sounds adorable, have you been keeping a love for romantic movies from me Anon?" Sayori teases and gives me a cheeky smile.
  40.
  41. I shake my head and move to put the DVD in. We get comfortable again as the movie starts. The movie gets a giggle out of Sayori immediately with the 'Make fists with ya toes' line, and I think I can see her trying her trying to do it herself. Silly Sayori, you need no socks to do that!
  42.
  43. "That big stuffed bear he has is so cute! Is he going to give it to his wife to try and get her back?" Sayori questions me when she sees John Mcclain carrying a bear.
  44.
  45. I shush her, not wanting to spoil anything, and her attention returns to the screen. She seems to be getting invested in the idea of a romance plot, rooting for John and Holly to reconcile their differences. I'm starting to wonder how she'll react when the action starts, and as the minutes inch closer to when I know it goes down my anticipation grows as Sayori's romance investment does too.
  46.
  47. "I really hope these 2 get a happy ending" I hear her say mostly to herself, I smile, knowing that they will even if it takes quite a few bullets.
  48.
  49. Finally it's time, as the front desk security guard is shot suddenly, the first casualty of the movie. Sayori jumps in her seat and looks at me shocked.
  50.
  51. "Anon you lied to me didn't you? This isn't a Christmas movie at all!" Sayori says.
  52.
  53. "But everything I said was true, it really is a Christmas story about family, just keep watching and I'm sure you'll enjoy." I plant a kiss on top of her head to silence her protests, and she turns back to the screen as hostages are taken and the movie starts proper.
  54.
  55. I can feel her tense up every time one of the villains fires a shot, and tense continuously as Mcclaine escapes being taken with the rest of the party goers and up the stairwell. It's good to know she's already so into the action. The movie continues as Mcclain kills the first villain, sending his corpse down the elevator to greet his friends.
  56.
  57. "So that's where you got your sweater! You must really like this movie, huh?" Sayori seems much less upset than the last time she spoke.
  58.
  59. "I guess you could say that. It's one of my favorite movies ever really."
  60.
  61. We return to silence as we watch the movie, Sayori still flinches slightly during shooting but I can notice her starting to react less. That doesn't stop her from clutching onto me during the tense scenes, her iron grip not faltering when Mcclain is stuck in the air vent. Every time he escapes a situation I can also hear her letting out a sigh of relief. Her reactions really are adorable, she must not watch many action movies. I can also hear her chuckle at many of the one liners, especially 'Yippee ki-yay, motherfucker!', which gets a full laugh from her.
  62.
  63. "Y'know I've heard that line quoted before even though I didn't know about this movie." Sayori says after her laugh
  64.
  65. "It is pretty famous, so I'm surprised." I reply
  66.
  67. The movie progresses into its second half and I can see Sayori getting fed up with the police chief's handling of the situation.
  68.
  69. "He's so bad at his job! How did he become a chief?" Sayori says as the police's armored car is destroyed.
  70.
  71. "Well it's a movie after all, hopefully he wouldn't in real life."
  72.
  73. When we return to the movie, Ellis' death scene causes Sayori to tense up much less than other scenes like it, I can tell she really dislikes him. The tension returns however when Hans pretends to be a hostage while trying to kill Mcclain, and she gets another laugh when Hans' gun has no bullets in it. The climax is built up to as Hans gets the detonators and the vault is opened, the double crossing plot also elicits a reaction from Sayori when she realizes the intention to kill every hostage. She especially cringes when Mcclaine uses a chain like a noose to hand Karl.
  74.
  75. "I don't think even a villain deserved that..." Sayori says solemnly as the camera shows him hanging. I smirk knowing that isn't the last of him.
  76.
  77. We finally reach the climax of the standoff between Hans and Mcclaine, Sayori is now leaning forward towards the screen completely entrapped by the tension. As Hans is sent on his Happy Trails 30 stories down she breaks out into a cheer.
  78.
  79. "Yay! Now they can be together!"
  80.
  81. Sayori is smiling as Holly and Mcclaine exit the building together, lulled into security. When Karl appears from inside she shouts "No!" at the screen but cheers again when he's shot, then continues to smile as Holly and Mcclaine share a kiss and the credits roll.
  82.
  83. "So what do you think of my taste in Christmas movies now, huh?" I say, pulling her closer.
  84.
  85. "Ok so maybe I was doubtful at first, but that was amazing! Can you be my own personal John Mcclaine Anon?" Sayori looks up at me.
  86.
  87. "Sure thing Sayori, I won't let any German terrorists hurt you on Christmas." I say leaning in close to her face.
  88.
  89. "Ehehe, yippee-ki-yay, mother effer!" Sayori cheers before also leaning in to kiss me.
