“Behold,” they said, “we are of the thunder people. Since parting with you we have visited our sky world and there we learned that the Stone Boy was indeed our nephew, born in the tepee of our sister. We have heard that our nephew and brother will become the father of a great nation and that many tribes will come shortly to destroy him. Thus we are come to war against his enemy.”

The Stone Boy and his brothers now made many arrows and war weapons. Soon there was need to use them, for there came vast armies of flies and mosquitoes and of all evil tribes which dwell upon the earth. All creatures of the woods and upper air sought to destroy men that there should be none henceforth upon the earth. The five men fought with these tribes and overcame them. So it is that man may dwell upon the earth.
