Of this do the matesprits sing

And violets for the ashen true
But nightshade's best for the kis-i-mets
Black poison through and through!

First autumn comes and life doth fade
Moonlight blends into the shade
Flowers close, wither and sigh
Lovers part and say goodbye...

Sing higher, goddess of the earth
Cruel womb of death and then new birth
Seasons' deadly grace of which you've sung
Our own delight has just begun...
