Scene is of a politician is inside Mr. A's office, he's demanding priority in being healed. "I'll give you anything you want - fortune, riches, cash." - but Mr. A refuses them all.
Mr. A: "I don't do individual healings, not unless you're about to die on the spot and you look healthy enough to me."
The politician, backed by a fleet of armed bodyguards, decides he has to do something he really doesn't want - and drops to his knees begging like a child. "At least spare my son, he's been poisoned by radiation!"
All Mr. A can say is "What? Again?!" With no context given to the audience, Mr. A then recovers "Have some dignity, if he needs to be healed again just join in with the next mass healing group."
The elated politician rises to his feet "Yes, yes! I'll make sure you're well compensated for it!"
Mr. A looks visibly pissed now and kicks the politician out of his office yelling at him "I don't charge!"

The phone rings on Mr. A's desk, he answers it annoyed "Yeah?"
Diagonal panel cut to show the principal of the school Princess Daughter attends on the other end.
"Yes, hello Mr. A, this is the principle of-"
He interrupts her "Yeah, the queen bee, no I'm not going to visit any of your labs for testing."
She laughs to humor him "Ha ha, no, this is about the field trip we have scheduled for today. I wanted to reconfirm about the tour for the students?"
"Yeah, that's fine. As long as they can keep their hands to themselves."


Then we cut to a cruise ship with the students on it coming into port, the ship is owned by the school because it's a mega school.
Conner is up on deck with the group of student, looking at the coastal city they're approaching, he looks annoyed.
Rudy appears behind him "It's a beautiful day in the tropics on a luxury cruise liner, why are you making that face?"
Conner gives him a dead stare "Rudy, my man, my pal, they put me in a closet, a broom closet for my room on this trip. My pillow was a dust pan. My neck is killing me."
Rudy shrugs "Good thing we're going to see Mr. A then, I hear he can heal anything."
Conner scoffs "Yeah, what a convenient power, give all the jackass-wannabes of the world incentive to hurt themselves even more than they already do."
Rudy: "Not really, I hear he hates traveling, so people have to come to him. Though I heard the possible range of his power is unlimited."
Another student cuts into their conversation "I heard he can even revive the dead." It's a glum looking classmate of their's with square glasses and hair parted to one side.
"Spooky!" says Conner with either sarcasm or disbelief.
He brings out his phone "Nah man, check out the top uploaders on Lablive, they all agree that his powers could totally work that way."
Rudy shrugs "Lablive is pretty sketch, Darien. Only blacklisted mad scientists tend to post there."
Darien looks a little put down.
Conner adds "We'll see when we see, won't we?"


The students are off the ship and approaching a football stadium that's been cleared out for a scheduled mass-cure session, surrounding the building are some camps of protestors and cult followers mixed with confused football fans and a vendor or two. Their chaperones make sure no weird people approach the students.

When the students arrive one of Mr. A's people tells them "Please enter the stadium grounds, line up near today's wounded and ill, and hold hands."
One student "Uh, what?"
"This is how we do things here. Hold hands and you'll see how it works."
Conner is holding Rudy's and someone else's hand "This better work..."
"It does. It really does!"
"Huh?" Conner looks over to the next row, it's a bright-eyed boy younger than Rudy and Conner, he looks ill.
One of the people who works there announces "The healing will now begin!"

In an instant everyone holding hands begins to glow, 10 seconds pass and the light fades. Everyone in the stadium is now reasonably healthy at the very least. The kid next to Rudy and Conner looks like the picture of health now.
Conner feels his neck, it's no longer sore or stiff. "Well dang."
"Mr. A is my hero, my body constantly absorbs and nullifies radiation, but it wears me down, so I have to get healed every time I de-con-tam-in-ate an area."
Conner: "Nice pronunciation, kid." there's no sarcasm, there's also a thumbs up. "So does that mean you've been to-"
Conner is cut off by the boy's father "Son, you need to stop telling random strangers about your powers." It's the politician from before.

Another announcement is made "Will those cured please now exit the stadium."
The councilors and teachers get the students to congregate for an impromptu talk with Mr. A.

Mr. A is in front of the students now. "Alright, here's how it works. Any living thing I touch with my power active glows for 10 seconds and is instantly healed of any injuries or diseases. This glow chains through living things, that's why we make you hold hands. Any questions?"
"Can you regrow someone's lost limbs."
"No, but if you have the limb I can reattach it."
"What about organs?"
"My power makes the body regrow missing organs, it takes about 30 days and only if you eat enough during that time. You WILL be hungry if that's the case."
"Why don't you travel?"
"Because if people can't help themselves then any help I can give them will be wasted. If you could get the whole world to hold hands then I could heal everyone on it, but otherwise you'll just keep getting the same diseases over and over again due to life style choices."
"So it's not just the people in the stadium?"
"Correct, it's anyone who is in contact with anyone who is glowing. Typically I heal around 100,000 people per session or more if we can chain it out of the stadium."
Conner asks "Who is your favorite baseball team?" and gets elbowed by another student.
"Don't ask stupid shit, Conner!"
Another student asks a question "Can you really revive the dead?"
Mr. A pauses. "Did any of you teachers distribute the FAQ pamphlets? Most of this stuff is covered in that."

Cut to the tour of the skyscraper that stands near the stadium.
There's a room of people answering phone calls.
Multiple floors of labs filled with scientists studying chemicals and doing science shit.
Dozens of observation rooms for studying patients for the severity of their ailments.
Mr. A explains "My  medical expertise stretches as far as my arm, so I've built up this organization to find ACTUAL cures to all these diseases and to develop new medical practices. It's all non-profit, some people feel compelled to give me money for healing them and this is why I dump it all into."
"How many people work here?"
"Enough. I've had to fire plenty for abusing their positions and trying to 'pull favors' or some other such crap."

They pass by the door leading to Mr. A' own office. He keeps walking, leaving the group confused "We're not gonna have a look inside?"
"Nope, going to lunch."
Darien is the last one to pass the door and gives it a hard look before hurrying along.


Cut to a cafeteria, it serves a free lunch for fans and patients (paid out of Mr. A's own expense but he would never admit to it being charity). The students dine there before the buildings start to shake violently - Mr. A's bodyguards reassure the teenagers and supervising teachers that attacks on the stadium are common
"This happens some times. A villain decides they want to kidnap or steal from Mr. A. We have a forcefield for occasions such as these."
Most of the kids look unconcerned, but Darien is sweating bullets.
One of the hero students could try to reassure him "Don't sweat it bro, even if he gets in here you've still got us!"

Outside we see a supervillain calling himself Mr. EO on a flying machine (like a butter glider or something dumb) trying to break through the forcefield by dropping bombs on it.
Cut back to the cafeteria and Darien is missing from the group.


It's evening now and the villain has finally been chased off allowing the group to leave.
Back at the ship, as Conner is boarding, Darien appears and looks like he's scared of something "Hey Conner, could you do me a solid and hand onto my bags for me? I don't want those guys throwing them overboard." Behind him Conner sees some rank A jackass students being rowdy.
"Yeah man, sure."
"Thanks, you're a life saver."
Conner looks at the bag, all that's in it is a black book with gold trim and a rainbow lace.
"Hmm. I could use some light reading on the way back. What's the harm?" he flips it open and starts reading it.


Cut to the next day at school where Darien is looking for Conner. Conner is wide-eyed with bags under his eyes trying not to fall asleep as he fights with his locker. Darien looks relived to see him.
"Hey Conner, can I get my bag back?"
Conner tiredly asks him "Darien, refresh my memory, do you have superpowers?"
"No?"
"Any aspirations to be a horror writer?"
"No."
"You don't torture animals, do you?"
"No. What are you getting at?"
"I read your book. At first I thought it was some wish-fulfillment power fantasy journal or something, but it goes into way too much detail to be just that."
"You read it?!"
"Yeah man, it's all about bringing the dead back to life and junk."
Darien looks panicked now, "Sorry about this, Conner."
"I'm not knocking you taste or anything, it's just-"
Conner drops to the ground mid sentence since Darien tazed him "I really need that book back."


Rudy is in class and he notices Conner's seat is vacant, not even filled in by one of his stuffed dummies.
Alarms start ringing around the school. Emergency shutters activate and close, the front and back yards of the school begin to empty, the security systems all activate. Rudy's classmates wonder what the cause of the shutdown is before the PA kicks on "There will be an inspection of all bags and lockers today."
"An inspection, this early?"

Down the hall we see Darien hiding in a janitor's closet, he's full on panicking as he talks to someone over the phone "Yes, I have the book, but things are bad, really bad. Mr. A is here. This wasn't part of the plan."

We see Mr. A sitting at a chair in the reception area, arms crossed, leg folded, foot shaking impatiently as he stares a burning hole of pure anger into the door of the principle's office. The receptionist is trying her best to look as small as possible to not attract his gaze.
"I am going to sue that bitch for this."

Cut to Conner on the ground. He's just woken up and realizes what happened and that his bag is missing. He gets up and starts hobbling along the hallways, looking for "Darien..."

Cut to Conner and Rudy's classroom where Amelia, Bucky, and Frank are. As part of the inspection they're having a roll call. Seeing a problem-child student missing, Amelia non-verbally suggests Bucky look for Conner while she continues the roll call and Frank starts checking the other students' belongings. Bucky super speeds out of sight. The inspection and missing student distracts the student councilors from what's going on outside - until a muffled explosion is heard. Amelia and Frank share a glance, then a closer explosion rocks the room a little. Bucky arrives back. "Conner's still around, but we've got a bigger problem."

Cut to above the school where we get a close-up of Mr. EO, then a spread of him above the school in his flying whatever machine surrounded by falling shock wave bombs.
Mr. EO launches an attack on the school to serve as a smokescreen - no-one would notice the diminutive Darien escaping in the chaos.
Mr. EO drops some of his signature shock wave bombs; low-energy bombs weak enough to shatter windows and disrupt a person's bowels, the windows blow out across the school and in Conner's classroom. Now he has the attention of the school's main defense force and Mr. EO begins to dodge the bullets/lasers/sticky nets (I don't know how lethal the security at a school would be, I would hope it isn't).

Mr. EO drops his higher-energy bombs on the turrets, strong enough to cause internal bleeding and organ rupturing if a person were to be caught in the blast.
As the school shakes, Mr. A begins barking orders at the stronger/super powered students "Gather the injured, get them someplace safe, I can heal them!"

Mr. EO gets a phone call from an upset Darien - "This is going too far, I did everything you asked me to do!"
"This is all part of the plan, Darien. That fool Mr. A is down there, he won't let anyone die, so you don't need to concern yourself with guilt or any other such nonsense!"
"I just wanted to bring my sister back..."
"And you will, all you have to do is bring me that book! Just focus on slipping away."

Princess Daughter summons up her strength to form a psychic barrier around the school, blocking Mr. EO from getting in or dropping anymore bombs on the building and keeping anyone else from getting out.
Mr. EO is at the front yard of the school, flanked by a number of armored bipedal robots of his own design, Darien is trying to escape through the playground on the side of the eastward department. However he's blocked off by the force field.
"Hmp, a force field. I'll just have to stress test it until the boy can escape."

His robots have big pistons built into their arms and begin pounding the force field.

While all eyes are on Mr. EO, Darien making a break for it.
Darien has made it to the force field and is waiting for it to fade enough for him to slip through, as it begins to flicker Conner pounces and punches him square in the face "Where's my bag, you ass?!"

Out in the front of the school, the hammering of the force field continues, the staff and student council are all readying themselves for a fight.

Mr. EO laughs "Ah ha ha ha! That's right, you get ready for this fight! I'm sure you feel so confident with that man on your side! Get hurt, hold hands in a circle, then throw yourself into the meat grinder all over again. Even if you die I'm sure he could just bring you back more mindless and obedient than before!"

Everyone turns to look at Mr. A in surprise, with the expression of 'what is he talking about'. Mr. A just scowls even harder as he turns away from the injured - now healed - to glare at Mr. Eo.


Back to Darien and Conner, Darien is being pulled away from the force field by Conner.
Darien sequels "Dammit Conner! Just let me go! I need to do this!"
Darien knees Conner in the balls, but Conner reveals the ace up his sleeve - he's been kicked in the balls so many times he's started wearing a cup. Darien desperately reaches for the tazer, but Conner retorts by stylishly unlocking one cuff and using the chain as a whip to snatch it out of Darien's hand - or at least that's what he tries to do, but instead he hits Darien's arm and leaves a nasty bruise, which still causes him to drop the tazer anyway.
"Fuck you, Conner! I'm going to bring my sister back!"
Conner: "There's nothing in there that will help you!"
Darien: "I know that! But it can help him, and then he can help me!"
Conner: "Who's 'him'?"


Back at the front of the school Mr. EO is still grandstanding.

Mr. EO: "Well, Mr. A? Don't try and feign innocence in front of the children. Tell them about your little book. About bringing the *dead back to life*."
Mr. A is just silently standing in front of the children.
Mr. EO: "Are you denying it? Perhaps you need a little persuasion." He pulls out the "super-high-energy magnum shockwave" gun, a loony toons looking gun with s.h.e.m.s engraved on the side of the barrel. "How long will this barrier hold up, I wonder?"
Mr. A: [thinking to himself] (That book is my greatest shame. I can't allow him to get his hands on it, or the consequences would be dire. But the children...!)
Mr. A: [clenching fists] "It doesn't work that way. It's just documentation. If you don't have my powers, then it's useless to you."

Cut back to Conner
Conner yells at him "You stupid idiot, I read that book, there's nothing in there that will help you!"
Darien: [thrown off-guard] "You're lying."
Conner: "What do you mean, I'm lying? It's -- did you even read the book?! It's not a how-to guide, it's a try-to guide!"
Darien: ...
Conner: "He did a lot of experiments, but he never managed to bring anyone back from the dead."
Darien: "No, you're lying! I'll get the book back to Mr. EO, and he'll show you!
Conner: "How?! Does he have Mr. A's broken bullshit healing powers too?!"
Darien stops struggling, as if he just realized he's actually retarded.
Conner: "It's not going to happen! Alright? Sometimes - sometimes shitty things happen, and people die, and that's it. It's shitty but you have to accept it and move on. You can't let it consume you."


Cut to Princess Daughter who is knelt down on the floor sweating, rapidly losing strength.

The school defense force are still standing at the ready for a confrontation as Mr. EO laughs, juggling his magnum-shockwave pistol. Some of the students have to be restrained from trying to break through the barrier and break Mr. EO's face for what he's done to their school. The barrier quickly dispels though as Princess Daughter passes out.

"Any moment now," Mr. EO gloats, "my little pawn will scamper off into the sunset and all that valuable data will be all mine, then his usefulness will be at an end."

A long silence follows.

Mr EO irritably restates "All that valuable data will soon be mine." he's sweating a little now while thinking to himself "What's taking that brat so long? He should have run back seconds ago!"
Frank steps forward to apprehend Mr. EO, who laughs at the notion and fires a round of his "s.h.e.m.s" pistol. It hits Frank square in the stomach, causing him pause for a second, but he strides forward as if nothing else had happened. Mr. EO recovers from his shock and rallies his robo-flunkies to attack, but they're all destroyed in a single swing of Frank's treetrunk arms. Mr. EO hadn't calculated for that. He turns to flee, but Bucky is right behind him in the blink of an eye - another blink, and Mr. EO's "s.h.e.m.s" pistol is in Bucky's less-than-capable hands. Mr EO stumbles back, prepared to throw another bomb, but possibly not prepared to have himself caught in the blast radius. He is quickly surrounded by several superpowered students...

As Mr EO is sent to the hospital with an escort of police cars, the councilors are seen around Mr. A - his arms folded still pissed off - trying to appease him for one of their students causing him so much trouble. Mr. A is soon approached by Darien, who hands over the book and apologies "I'm sorry... for everything. I just wanted to bring my sister back."
Amelia wastes no time in chewing Darien out "You reckless, thoughtless moron. You'd be in one of those police cars right now too if Mr. A decided to press charges. I'm suspending you for two weeks." Amelia reconsiders... "Make that three weeks! And where is Conner?"
Bucky disappears and returns in a couple seconds with Conner, with his familiar bag on his back.
Amelia asks "Where did you disappear to during the attack, Conner?"
"Just bunking off."
She gives him a look as if her eyes are digging into his skull "You shouldn't be wandering around during an attack, you could have been injured or worse.
Conner chooses to interpret that as Amelia being worried about him, he doesn't say it out loud though, but she reacts as if he did.
"I worry about all my students! Our students, I mean." and then tries to shift gears by talking to Mr. A "Right, again, so sorry about all of this, Mr. A." She can't really get a read on him for some reason.
Now holding up the book and shaking it "Do you want to know why I didn't want this getting out?" As if Mr. A was reading her mind now "Because I didn't want to give anyone false hope. The dead are dead, I can't do anything for them and I don't want people bringing me corpses begging and pleading for me bring them back as a vegetable." He's looking right at Darien as he says that. "I think everyone here is healthy, I'm going home now."

Before going he turns to look at Conner "The Thunder Bats."
"Huh?"
"My favorite baseball team. Good question, kid."
