BACKGROUND 》 sohyun grew up in ansan, south korea with her mother and two younger siblings however, when her mother remarried, they moved to seoul, where sohyun became a trainee under jyp entertainment (2007). she auditioned as a vocalist, but sohyun found her passion in rap as she continued to train. she dealt with the stress of school life and training by writing down her feelings in the form of lyrics. after her contract expired in 2011, she signed onto swing after being offered a position in their upcoming girl group.

after graphite disbanded, sohyun released a mixtape under the name of ELLA (에야, as in 'she' in spanish) and started to write songs under the same name, notable songs including wanna one's "11" and dreamcatcher's "you and i" and "trust me".
