  1. SimSpeedrunner
  2.
  3. (OR: Speed Run Simulator 2016. Just to annoy the "IT'S ONE WORD!!" crowd)
  4.
  5. Begin as an aspiring speedrunner. Pick some games to speedrun, with the goal being to accumulate speedrun fame and earn a role in the Good Games Gone Gonzo speedrunning marathon. Which game or games will you try to run? Will it be "Super MacGuffin Creature: You Had ONE JOB"? Maybe "Last Delusion II: We Lied"? Or will you try for easier, more obscure records in games like "The Blade of Faith" or "Emmaus 17: Super Classified Caper"? The choice is yours!
  6.
  7. Potential character class ideas:
  8.
  9. -The Resetless: Prefers doing runs to grinding out small sections of a game. As a result, will finish more runs, and won't burn out on a game quickly, but will probably also not push a time on a game as low as it can go.
  10.
  11. -The Researcher: The opposite of The Resetless--loves grinding out small sections and doing research into new tricks, but doesn't like doing full runs of games. As such, tends to accumulate speedrunning prestige slowly, helping discover new tricks on a variety of games as opposed to taking a record on a single game.
  12.
  13. -The Mercenary: Enjoys grinding and running a game in equal measure. Doesn't often complete a run, but when they do, it's high-quality, and they tend to not return to that game for awhile.
  14.
  15. -The Dedicated: Similar to The Mercenary, but more dedicated to a single game. As such, their prestige tends to fluctuate depending on how recently they've accomplished anything in "their game".
  16.
  17. On a basic level, gameplay would be something like Punch Club. It would be divided into days, and each day, you'd pick a game to work on, and perhaps whether you grind small sections of a game, do some research to try and come up with new strategies, do run attempts, or some combination of the three. A given game will have a couple stats associated with it--Fame being a measure of how well-known the game is/how much a good time in it will increase your speedrunning prestige, and Maturity, basically a measure of how much of a community currently exists around it/how difficult breaking into that game's "scene" will be.
  18.
  19. At the end of each day, you'll be told how well you did in terms of getting a new Personal Best/discovering new tricks/how many attempts you completed in your game. Your enthusiasm for both the game and speedrunning as a whole will be adjusted at the end of each day, as will your speedrunning prestige. You'll also receive a brief rundown of any speedrunning news (Other runners setting new times in either your game or other games), upcoming speedrun events, etc.
  20.
  21. Ending: The game will probably work out like a SimCity game, where you'll have goals to reach (Getting your game into a marathon, for instance), or a possible credits point, but can keep playing beyond that--in other words, no "true ending" to speak of. (If we want to get meta, this means that someone wanting to speedrun SimSpeedrunner could set the goal of getting to whatever credits point I decide, or even any other goal they feel like)
  22.
  23. (This is all very much first-drafty, subject to change, etc. It's also very possible that I wind up never actually doing anything with this idea.)
