Penny Gadget: Enter Dragonian

Penny Gadget is waiting for her uncle, the famous Inspector Gadget, to return home from his latest mission. Brain, the gadgets' dog, returns her and tells her that Inspector Gadget has been taken hostage by Dr. Claw's henchmen. Then, there's a flash above the Gadgets' house and something lands on the roof and then slides off into the front yard. Penny and Brain rush outside to encounter a half-human, half-dragon creature. "Where am I", the creature asks. "Metro City, USA, Earth-1", Penny responds (having met people from other Earths, she figures the human/dragon creature may be from one. "Earth-1?", the creature asks, "How'd I manage to jump that far?". "What do you mean?", Penny asks. "I'm Dragonian", the creature responds, "I'm from Earth-10". "I'm Penny Gadget, niece of Inspector Gadget, one of Earth-1's greatest heroes".

Dragonian goes on to explain, "I'm one of my Earth's greatest heroes". "Obviously you have dragon powers", Penny responds, 'How'd you get them?". Dragonian retracts his wings and shrinks down a little bit until he's in a human form. Penny finds Dragonian's human form rather attractive. "My real name is Michael Draygen", Dragonian explains, "Back on my Earth, I was just an ordinary scientist when I found an ancient stone tablet depicting dragons in some ruins. Some goons working for a crime boss broke into the temple, looking to steal anything valuable. I grabbed the tablet because I wanted to study it. The goons saw and tried to grab the tablet. I punched and kicked at them, but in the ensuing fight, the tablet was shattered. weird energy burst out from it and into me, transforming me into the Dragon-like form you saw before. Calling myself Dragonian (which means "dragon-like"), I took down the goons and then confronted their boss. I defeated the crime boss and put him and his goons in jail". "How did you end up traveling to Earth-1?", Penny asks. "I have confronted, and defeated, several supervillains since getting my powers", Dragonian continues, "Earlier today, I found out that a new supervillain had broken into a science lab and stolen a device that could open wormholes. I confronted the supervillain just as he was opening one. I pummeled him using my "Dragon Fu", which is what I call my fighting style. At one point, I accidentally drop-kicked the wormhole device, causing the Wormhole to become unstable. I got dragged into it, but managed to knock out the supervillain and keep him from getting dragged into the wormhole with me. I had no idea the wormhole would take me so far down the Multiverse".

Dragonian realizes he finds Penny attractive. "You're kinda cute", he says, "Wanna go get something to eat?". Penny is worried about her uncle, but is also starving and finds Dragonian attractive, so she agrees. The two of them head to a nearby eatery, which happens to be Penny's favorite restaurant, and grab a bite to eat. As it turns out, Chief Quimby is eating dinner at this same restaurant. After Penny and Dragonian sit down, Quimby notices them. "Penny!", he calls out to her, "We tracked down your Uncle. Dr. Claw's men have him at an old temple just outside of town". Dragonian overhears Quimby, "What's this about Penny's uncle?", he asks. "Who is this?", Quimby asks Penny. "Michael. He's my boyfriend", Penny answers. She quickly realizes she called Dragonian her boyfriend without thinking, but there's more important things to worry about right now. "Penny's uncle was taken hostage during his last mission. We're working on a way to rescue him", Quimby explains. Dragonian turns to Penny, "If your uncle's in trouble, we gotta go help him". Dragonian gets a to-go box and puts their leftovers in it. Once they get outside the restaurant, Dragonian transforms back to his Dragonian form. Penny climbs onto his back and the two of them take to the sky.

It doesn't take long for Penny and Dragonian to reach the temple. They find Dr. Claw's henchmen trying to excavate a stone tablet. "That tablet is eerily similar to the one that gave me my powers", Dragonian remarks. He pummels the henchmen, while Penny recovers the tablet. After Dragonian knocks out all of the henchmen, he and Penny locate Inspector Gadget. Gadget looks up to see his niece and a dragon-man working to free him. "Penny, who's the dragon guy?", he asks. "He's a friend of mine", Penny answers. When Dr. Claw realizes that his henchmen have all been knocked out, he decides its time to leave. As Dr. Claw flies away in the MAD jet, he sees Gadget, Penny, and Dragonian walking out of the Temple. Penny is carrying the stone tablet. Dr. Claw decides to get in one last bit of revenge. He aims the MAD jet's laser at the stone tablet and fires. The stone tablet is blown to smithereens. A massive amount of energy is released from the shattered tablet and, subsequently, absorbed by Penny.

"That's the same thing that happened to me", Dragonian remarks. He then tells Inspector Gadget what he told Penny earlier about how he got his powers. Penny suddenly transforms into a half-human/half-dragon form, but Penny's form is more angelic in appearance than Dragonian's form. When she tries to breathe fire, she fires a burst of light energy from her mouth instead. "So how do you feel, Penny-dragon", Dragonian remarks. "Amazing", she replies, "but call me Pendragon".

Once they get back to Metro City, Inspector Gadget checks in with Quimby. He also explains to Quimby about what happened to Penny. Penny begins to suspect that the stone tablets she and Dragonian found contained ancient magic that was unleashed when the tablets were shattered and then latched itself onto the first person it could find. Having no way to return to his Earth, Dragonian spends the night with the Gadgets. The next day, Inspector Gadget takes penny and Dragonian to New York and leads them to a rather imposing building. "This is the Sanctum Sanctorum", Gadget explains, "there's someone in here who may know about whatever was in that tablet". Gadget, Penny, and Dragonian enter the building to find a man in a red cape waiting for them. "I am Doctor Stephen Strange", the man explains, "I sense that two of you possess an ancient magic within yourselves". Penny and Dragonian walk towards the strange man. Dr. Strange speaks some strange words and the eye-shaped pendant around his neck, which he refers to as the Eye of Aggamoto, opens up and projects visions for everyone to see. "Ancient sorcerers had a habit for conjuring dragons to attack their enemies", Dr. Strange explains, "At first, these dragons were all the fire-elemental kind, which breathe fire. Eventually, the sorcerers figured out how to conjuring dragons powered by other elements. In addition to fire, there are dragons who control Water, Air, Earth, Light, Darkness, Ice, Metal, Lightning, and Space". "Does that mean there are 8 more stone tablets out there somewhere?", Penny and Dragonian ask in unison. "Yes", Dr. Strange answers, "When the Dragons' power got to be to much, The stone tablet containing the essence of the fire-elemental dragons, considered to be the most powerful kind of dragons, was banished from this Earth. The other 9 were simply scattered across this Earth". "Which dragons' powers do we have", Penny asks. "You have the light-elemental dragon powers", Dr. Strange explains, "and he has the fire-elemental dragon powers".

"We need to find the remaining 8 Dragonian tablets", Dragonian realizes. As they leave the Sanctum Sanctorum, the Gadget phone rings. Quimby tells Gadget that Dr. Claw's men are raiding another ancient temple down in Peru. Gadget, Dragonian, and "Pendragon" make haste to Peru. Gadget feels a little awkward clinging to his niece as she flies him to Peru at the speed of light. The arrive at the Peruvian ruins and find yet another Dragonian tablet. Penny gives off a flash of light, blinding all the henchmen that were trying to excavate the tablet. Dragonian grabs the tablet while Penny takes out the henchmen and Gadget races to confront Dr. Claw. Dr. Claw flees after he notices the tablet is gone, excaping in the MAD jet just before Inspector Gadget reaches where he had been. Inspector Gadget, Penny, and Dragonian return to the Gadget's house with the Dragonian Tablet in one piece. Dragonian and Penny, in their Dragonian forms, are able to read the words written on the tablet, and learn this tablet contains the essence of metal-elemental dragons.

The next day, Chief Quimby informs Inspector Gadget that MAD Agents have been sighted at seven ancient temples around the world. "They're going for all the remaining tablets at once", Gadget realizes. Using their super flying speed, Dragonian and "Pendragon" begin a "world tour" to retrieve the remaining seven tablets. Gadget himself heads for MAD headquarters to confront Dr. Claw. Pendragon reaches the first temple in Egypt, but the Dragonian tablet is already gone. Dragonian arrives at a temple in the Australian outback, but again the tablet is already gone. Pendragon next reaches a temple in Mexico, but the Dragonian Tablet from that temple is gone. Dragonian goes to a temple in Hawaii next, but is too late to get the Tablet from that temple too. Penny contacts her Japanese friend Atsuko and tells her to check out the temple located in Japan. Dragonian and Pendragon meat up at a temple in Arizona, but the tablet that was at that temple is gone. they head to the temple in Italy, but its Dragonian Tablet is gone too. They arrive in Japan to find MAD goons at the Japanese temple and Atsuko tied-up. Dragonian cuts the ropes, freeing Atsuko. The three of them overhear the MAD goons say the other 6 tablets are en route to MAD HQ. They just need the one here and the one that Gadget has. Dragonian rushes up and grabs the tablet before the MAD goons can react. One of them trips Dragonian, causing him to fling the tablet into the air. Atsuko tries to catch it, but it shatters all over her. Atsuko absorbs the energy from the tablet, transforming into a Dragonian form. She lets out a loud roar and triggers an earthquake. Startled, Atsuko stops roaring, and the quake stops. "You got the earth-elemental dragon powers", Penny tells her. Penny then explains the tablets and Dragonian powers to Atsuko. "She better come with us", Dragonian tells Penny. Atsuko follows Dragonian and Penny to Metro City, where they make sure the metal-elemental Dragonian tablet is still there. Then, the three of them rush to MAD HQ to help Gadget and get back the other 6 tablets.

Inspector Gadget is surprised to see a third Dragonian hero arriving with Penny and Dragonian. "Atsuko got the earth-elemental dragon powers", Penny explains. "So what's your hero name?", Gadget asks Atsuko. "Atsugon, I guess" she replies. The four of them race to confront Dr. Claw. They overhear him say he will absorb the remaining dragon powers and use them to destroy Gadget. Dr. Claw's henchmen arrive and present him with the 6 tablets they took from the temples. Two more henchmen arrive carrying the metal-elemental Dragonian tablet, which the must have stolen right out of the gadgets' house. Gadget, Pendragon, Dragonian, and Atsugon rush into the room. "Stop in the name of the law" Gadget orders. Atsugon roars, triggering another quake. "Stop that, you'll break the tablets", Pendragon advise Atsugon, "we don't want the tablets getting broken". Atsugon promptly quits roaring. Pendragon, Dragonian, and Atsugon take out Dr. Claw's henchmen one by one. Dr. Claw takes off running and climbs into the MAD jet. He attempts to grab the tablets, but a burst of flame from Dragon makes him turn around and fly away.

Gadget, Penny, Dragonian, and Atsuko take the 7 tablets to the Sanctum Sanctorum for safe-keeping. "I'll keep them here until individuals worthy of their power can be found", Dr. Strange promises. Atsuko returns to Japan, while Gadget, Penny, and Dragonian return to Metro City. "I can fly at the speed of light, so I can reach you in minutes", Atsuko reminds Penny. When they arrive back in Metro City. Dragonian reverts to his human form. Gadget checks in with Chief Quimby to let him know everything turned out all right. When Inspector Gadget returns home, he's just in time to see Penny and Dragonian kissing.
