  8. [OUTPUT: Game loaded successfully. Please enter command.]
  9. >GAH
  10. >Look around.
  11. [OUTPUT: You're still atop the spire of the Upsilon Sector's massive citadel.]
  12. [OUTPUT: You appear to have cleared everything out here.]
  13. >Look for exits.
  14. [OUTPUT: The only way out is the spiral staircase from whence you came, unless you'd rather just cast yourself from the top of The Tower like a Hanged Man, and see what happens next.]
  15. >Hah.
  16. >Can I water wings my way back up if I fall?
  17. [OUTPUT: That depends on your luck.]
  18. >Don't risk it; go back.
  19. [OUTPUT: You turn to leave. As you take a step toward the staircase, you hear somebody below scrambling forward upon it. In mere moments, a breathless Charoite has burst up from the depths of the tower, panting heavily. She makes a few nigh-incoherent sounds that seem like a mix of 'Topaz awake' and 'something in the sky.']
  20. >Blink, mutter "fuck," and run with her as fast as you can back to the ship.
  21. [OUTPUT: You practically drag her down the stairs with you, noting two blinking dots in the sky before you descend into the depths. When you reach the landing area, you can see that Cyan has evidently physically restrained an awake Topaz, who is currently attempting to pop the Andalusite Bubble.]
  22. >What's in that bubble.
  23. [OUTPUT: Why, the green pearl from the Alpha Sector you found beside the ГWЕ-ДРАХИС Shard, of course.]
  24. >Yell to Topaz: "WHAT ARE YOU DOING??"
  25. [OUTPUT: She yells back. "TRYING TO BREAK HER STASIS!"]
  26. >WHY?
  27. [OUTPUT: "BECAUSE I CAN *REMEMBER* HER!"]
  28. >Ask Cyan why they're stopping Topaz, then!
  29. [OUTPUT: Cyan and Charoite both look entirely shocked by this revelation of Topaz's.]
  30. >"I... think we should let her do this."
  31. [OUTPUT: Charoite hesitates for a good twenty seconds, and then nods to Cyan, who releases Topaz. She takes a step toward the hatch of the ship, and you sight the bubble within, floating right next to the gemstone you got from the Ochre Tablet.]
  32. [OUTPUT: Topaz stops abruptly as the earth begins to shake.]
  33. >Oh god.
  34. >Be ready.
  35. [OUTPUT: It's coming from above.]
  36. >What is it?
  37. >It's a ship, isn't it.
  38. [OUTPUT: Two.]
  39. >TWO??
  40. >Get the hell out of there??
  41. [OUTPUT: A moderately-sized cruiser emblazoned with the image of four shaded triangles in a gray diamond, and a smaller red orb of some description.]
  42. [OUTPUT: You attempt to get the hell out of dodge.]
  43. [OUTPUT: The larger of the two ships emits a glowing white light from its lower hull. You all attempt to rush back to the ship, but find that you are all seemingly locked in place.]
  44. >Damnit.
  45. >See what happens next, then?
  46. >...I THINK I KNOW WHAT EVERYDAY IS
  47. [OUTPUT: The two ships land. With a hiss, the smaller of the two rolls onto the ground, and seven rubies of some description climb out, gray diamonds on their uniforms.]
  48. >in the photography directory
  49. >LETS PLAY SOME FUCKING BASEBALL
  50. [OUTPUT: Then, the larger ship lands. Precisely five gems emerge from the landing ramp as it descends. The one in the center of the group points at all of you.]
  51. >WE CANT PLAY WITH THREE TEAMS
  52. >FUCC
  53. [OUTPUT: "Jade, Facet-2EF8-6U8I Cut-6VP-Y31. Which of you is in command here?"]
  54. >That title sounds... Familiar:
  55. [OUTPUT: You note this being has two gems. One on the back of each hand.]
  56. >Azure points to herself, I guess?
  57. >whatu fucc
  58. >Do we HAVE a designation?
  59. [OUTPUT: Not that you're aware of.]
  60. >Could we lie and get away with it?
  61. [OUTPUT: You don't know.]
  62. [OUTPUT: Charoite suddenly pales, as if realizing who this is. ]
  63. >Who is it?
  64. [OUTPUT: You aren't Charoite, are you?]
  65. >I feel like I should know
  66. >Be Charoite for a split second to realize
  67. [OUTPUT: You can't be other people without dying horrifically to various horrors, silly.]
  68. >Fine.
  69. >Die horrifically to various horrors, silly
  70. >Should we tell them about the shards? I honestly don't think it'll matter, they probably already know.
  71. >yeah
  72. >do et
  73. >"Our mission is to find the Void Shards, and our designation... I seem to have forgotten it?"
  74. >Does that sound good?
  75. >Or passable?
  76. [OUTPUT: "I see. Now that we've got that cleared up, let's get on to the *test*."]
  77. [OUTPUT: Please enter command.]
  78. >"Test?"
  79. [OUTPUT: FOMALHAUT grins. "Oh, yeah. This is the part where we see whether or not it's easy to kill you."]
  80. >o h
  81. >Shisahskskjsjsksojdjdnndnxjxkx
  82. >I KNEW IT WAS FAMILIAR
  83. >...ask for an explanation.
  84. >"NIce."
  85. >no but really yeah
  86. [OUTPUT: "It's like, how do I say this. Hmm. It's like one of those organic places where НАКОФА go to learn. A 'middle term.'"]
  87. [OUTPUT: "Or something. I can't quite recall the analogy."]
  88. >"A school?"
  89. [OUTPUT: "Oh, yes. That. *The Overseer* is giving you all a test. If you pass, you can keep on going. If you fail, you die. We win either way, and all that."]
  90. >Is this a fucking joke.
  91. >"...What do we have to do."
  92. [OUTPUT: Jade waves a hand, turning back to the landing ramp of the ship. "Easy. Not die. You two, turn on the beam cannon."]
  93. [OUTPUT: Two of the gems standing around Jade rush up the ramp before her.]
  94. >Any objections to knocking them off the ramp with water?
  95. >I feel like that'd be cheating, but go head.
  96. >Knock them off the ramp with water.
  97. [OUTPUT: You attempt to knock the three off of the ramp with a blast of water. As you do so, however, Jade springs to life, gems burning with a bright white light. Before you can see what is happening, a burning solidus has been carven into your vision, and all of the water has inexplicably evaporated. Jade's posture straightens, as if she were uncomfortable with the entire situation as a whole. "As you were. Please continue."]
  98. >Inventory?
  99. [ http://pastebin.com/sXngWA1X ]
  100. >Do we have enough time to get something from the ship?
  101. [OUTPUT: You don't know.]
  102. >Who do we have with us?
  103. [OUTPUT: Everyone.]
  104. >Who's the strongest?
  105. [OUTPUT: That's an opinion.]
  106. Yung Venuz: ^
  107. >I meant in physical strength.
  108. >ie lifting
  109. >doesn't matter
  110. [OUTPUT: Topaz.]
  111. >Topaz should get the exploding barrel thingy.
  112. >While we do something else.
  113. [OUTPUT: The ÆCHOR Canister isn't particularly heavy.]
  114. [OUTPUT: You managed to carry it out of the mines by yourself, after all.]
  115. >just get whoever has the steadiest hold to bring it out
  116. >quietly
  117. [OUTPUT: Cyan goes to grab the canister. What do you do in the meantime?]
  118. >What can we do with the artillery cannons?
  119. [OUTPUT: You definitely don't have the time to set them up again.]
  120. >What's Vardiveig?
  121. [OUTPUT: ...]
  122. [OUTPUT: Everyone knows who Vardiveig is.]
  123. >That's not true. I don't.
  124. [OUTPUT: Thus, thou'rt not a person. Vardiveig, of the Nine?]
  125. >Do we have a living being in Charoite's inventory or something?
  126. [OUTPUT: Not anymore. Her gem is inside the ship currently, right beside the Andalusite Bubble.]
  127. >CHAROITE INV: Potion of the Nine, Elixir Ophidion, Falyscint, Vardiveig.
  128. [OUTPUT: Keep in mind that the inventory is generally only updated at the end of sessions.]
  129. >Oh.
  130. >Charoite uses Falyscint, Azure traps them with water, Topaz throws a gluon destabilizer.
  131. [OUTPUT: You all attempt to strike at the assault force. A monolithic ion cannon upon the front of the larger of the two ships heats up, and your attempts are all almost immediately thwarted by what appears to be a calcite beside Jade.]
  132. >oh
  133. >Is cyan back?
  134. [OUTPUT: No.]
  135. >Throw a destabilizer inside the cannon barrel, and fill it with water after the destabilizer explodes. Also, attempt to get out of the way.
  136. [OUTPUT: The cannon continues to heat up, throbbing with energy. FOMALHAUT turns back to look at all of you.]
  137. >WHY DONT WE JUST
  138. >DODGE
  139. [OUTPUT: You toss a Gluon Destabilizer into the massive barrel of the cannon. If nothing else, the explosion seems to feed the energy of the thing. Similarly, your hydrokinetic abilities have been disabled temporarily by the calcite.]
  140. >dodge
  141. [OUTPUT: You all prepare to dodge.]
  142. [OUTPUT: Jade's eyes widen at something behind you. "No *fucking* way. Shut... FREEZE THE CANNON, IN THERE."]
  143. >uhh
  144. >look behind us?
  145. [OUTPUT: You turn to look behind you, but fail to do so. This is likely because you are beat to it by a cold arm wrapping itself around your neck, and the feel of a metallic barrel to your back, right atop your gem.]
  146. >...
  147. >oh no
  148. [OUTPUT: "Could *someone* do us a favor, and explain what's going on."]
  149. >colon has
  150. >a GUN
  151. [OUTPUT: Craning your neck slightly, you sight who it is.]
  152. >sorry had to meme
  153. [OUTPUT: AMARILL VARDIVEIG.]
  154. >"rip"
  155. >what a coincidence
  156. >ok so *Vardiveig has a GUN
  157. >gun too is an acronym
  158. >it stands for gem usurpation nexus
  159. >for some reason
  160. >"Okay. First, could you tell me what the last thing you experienced was before waking up here?"
  161. >...what happened to cyan
  162. [OUTPUT: "The Imperium forces encroaching upon our hill."]
  163. >"you ded"
  164. >that could be interpreted as a threat
  165. >so, what happened to this person
  166. >did we fight him
  167. >no.
  168. >or just randomly find the gem
  169. >They fought in a war, a long time ago.
  170. >And we found their gem.
  171. >ah
  172. >"You were shattered on that hill. We found a tablet with your self somehow saved within it, then bumbled into recreating your gem. Either that was a recent backup or someone, I have no idea who, found both a way to copy memories into your revived gem and the requisite memories to do so."
  173. [OUTPUT: You begin to explain your situation. Of course, you are cut off by FOMALHAUT.]
  174. [OUTPUT: She pushes one of the two technicians aside, pulling up a holographic screen. "What do you two think you're doing!? She's *fucking risen from the dead.* Barrage strike!"]
  175. >"Could you help us with that cannon?"
  176. [OUTPUT: "Not so fast. You're my prisoner now." Amarill calls over to FOMALHAUT. "You kill me, and you take out, what, *six* Void Shards as well?"]
  177. >Vardiveig has SIX??
  178. >Or WE have six.
  179. >I think we.
  180. [OUTPUT: You do.]
  181. >Got it.
  182. [OUTPUT: Jade pauses. In that time, another unknown gem with a green pearl in her chest pulls a kicking Cyan out of the ship.]
  183. >That was the one Charoite remembered, right?
  184. [OUTPUT: *Topaz* recalled the eye of none other than Amarill Vardiveig in her dream.]
  185. >Ask Topaz how she remembers Vardiveig.
  186. >And, on a similar note, WHAT she remembers.
  187. >I thought one of us remembered a green pearl, and was trying to unbubble it?
  188. [OUTPUT: "She was part of... my Diamond?"]
  189. >...Your Diamond? Who?
  190. [OUTPUT: "My Diamond." Topaz gestures to the pearl. "*Her* Diamond. *Green* Diamond."]
  191. >((perfection))
  192. [OUTPUT: The green pearl's eyes widen, making the total clusterfuck an even larger one. "Are... you Commander Topaz?"]
  193. >COMMANDER Topaz???
  194. >***whatu fucc***
  195. >((Perfection.))
  196. >I seriously can't think of a response to this
  197. >it's just... mindfuck
  198. [OUTPUT: Vardiveig presses the gun further into your gem. "Here's how this is going to work, *FOMALHAUT*. Verda and I are going to take your second ship. I'm going to leave these gems to their own devices. *You're* going to go back to your pretty little scorched zirconia-crafter Diamond, and tell her that we fucking kicked your ass. Okay?"]
  199. >When this is all sorted, we should *give the amnesiac something to hold on to*.
  200. [OUTPUT: Jade responds by slashing a finger through the holographic screen before her.]
  201. >DODGE
  202. >IMMEDIATELY
  203. >we have a gun to our gem
  204. [OUTPUT: You're currently being restricted and held at gunpoint by Vardiveig.]
  205. >DAMNIT
  206. >isn't that the gesture you use to fire a line explosion
  207. >or..
  208. >also, wait, who's Verda.
  209. [OUTPUT: Presumably the green pearl.]
  210. >Green Pearl, probably
  211. >Mh.
  212. [OUTPUT: A glowing line carves itself through the ground in a curving pattern, right before you. Amarill curses, and kicks you all the way over it, to the other end, before grabbing the green pearl's hand, and dragging her to the side. A wave of ionic blasts burns through the air, practically deafening you.]
  213. >SEE???
  214. [OUTPUT: You are now unrestricted. What do you do?]
  215. >Do we have the aechor canister?
  216. >See if Vardeveig is okay.
  217. [OUTPUT: No.]
  218. >And if EVERYONE'S okay.
  219. [OUTPUT: Everyone appears to be alive. Vardiveig and Verda are off to the side, somewhat close to the second ship. The two are pointing heavy-duty modified plasma weapons at FOMALHAUT and the Imperium gems. Half of the Imperium gems have weapons drawn at your group, the others (including Jade) at Vardiveig and company.]
  220. >water blade the heck out of the people manning the cannon while you're at it
  221. >Ask cyan where the aechor is.
  222. [OUTPUT: She's unconscious.]
  223. >erm
  224. >Would we like to engage in combat?
  225. >since when was she unconcious
  226. [OUTPUT: Since the force of the explosion blasted her into the side of your ship with mild force.]
  227. [OUTPUT: As was said, everyone is alive, certainly.]
  228. >So, I say we attack the Imperium gems. I won't be checking this much, fucktons of homework, but that's my vote.
  229. [OUTPUT: Other opinions on the three-way shootout?]
  230. >that sounds like a fucktastrophe.
  231. >would vardeveig be willing to help us?
  232. [OUTPUT: You don't know.]
  233. >could we ask?
  234. [OUTPUT: If you so desire.]
  235. >Do it?
  236. >Do so.
  237. [OUTPUT: Vardiveig calls back, her grip on Verda's hand visibly tightening. "I'd like to just steal that ship and go, thanks. If that entails helping you out, so be it!"]
  238. >three way shootout it is.
  239. >WAIT.
  240. >if she steals their ship.
  241. >then we'd be left alone with them.
  242. [OUTPUT: Yes.]
  243. >which means are odds of survival are... worse.
  244. >Someone should get the canister, or we should leave.
  245. >we should probably just leave.
  246. >could we ask her to join our party, actually?
  247. [OUTPUT: Do you do so?]
  248. >Sure.
  249. [OUTPUT: "I hate to be the one to point out the obvious, but there's no way in hell I'm getting near The Oddity within the sphere of influence of that maroon psychopath. I've been *fused* with him before. I know what he thinks. Thanks, but no thanks."]
  250. >okay then
  251. >Who's the pilot?
  252. [OUTPUT: Of which party?]
  253. >Us.
  254. >We are.
  255. [OUTPUT: You, with the occasional Cyan as copilot.]
  256. >Topaz carries Cyan inside, Azure should go inside and pilot, Charoite should be on lookout from just inside the ship door.
  257. [OUTPUT: Are you sure you want to attempt to leave?]
  258. >...the aechor canister?
  259. >...nah
  260. >did we bubble the others or
  261. >is probably not secured
  262. >are they merely unconscious
  263. >what happened
  264. >oh ok
  265. [OUTPUT: Topaz is awake, Cyan unconscious, and Charoite freaking out. Nobody has been poofed yet.]
  266. >uh, of the other others.
  267. >i read the log
  268. >this is perfect
  269. >hmm
  270. >Topaz should go and secure the canister?
  271. >Any objections?
  272. >no.
  273. [OUTPUT: Topaz pops her head into the ship, and confirms that the ÆCHOR canister hadn't even been touched, and is still strapped down.]
  274. >good.
  275. >How many are attempting to attack us?
  276. >I... guess we should leave, then.
  277. [OUTPUT: Nobody has moved a muscle yet, save for Topaz.]
  278. >did you forget the murder gems twin
  279. >it feels like everyone forgot them
  280. >"Half of the Imperium gems have weapons drawn at your group"
  281. >How many is that?
  282. Yung Venuz: ^
  283. Yung Venuz: "only 5935838"
  284. >like 3
  285. Yung Venuz: probably 3
  286. [OUTPUT: That is six of them.]
  287. [OUTPUT: Exactly.]
  288. >what weapon types are we facing here
  289. >gem destabilizers or something of the such?
  290. >Are they using gunpowder weapons, or are they *too sophisticated for that?*
  291. >Probably too sophisticated.
  292. >yeah
  293. [OUTPUT: A KNIFE, some gem destabilizers, a psychic dampener gem, and, of course, the ion cannon itself.]
  294. >oh no a knife
  295. >also how's the psychic dampener work
  296. >"they have steven on their side"
  297. >http://theedgeofstevensknife.tumblr.com
  298. [OUTPUT: The calcite can make it impossible for you to utilize your hydrokinesis whilst in its proximity, by merely existing.]
  299. >oh ok
  300. >what about our wings
  301. >or other gem weapons
  302. [OUTPUT: Weapons are fine.]
  303. >ok
  304. >who's manning the cannon, or were those three just to prep the cannon
  305. [OUTPUT: FOMALHAUT is currently controlling the main interface for the cannon, whilst an era four peridot mans the secondary interface.]
  306. >gotcha
  307. >Is it pointed at our ship?
  308. >i assume neither are crucial
  309. [OUTPUT: It is currently pointed at your ship.]
  310. >Oh.
  311. >That's a pretty good reason not to flee.
  312. [OUTPUT: Hah.]
  313. >Anyone here object to using our aechor canister?
  314. >me
  315. >i object
  316. >for what reason
  317. >on the basis that it probably still won't work
  318. >it's an exploding barrel
  319. >did you forget what the gluon destabiliser did
  320. >Throw it at those manning the cannon, I mean.
  321. >Any objections now?
  322. >shrug, might still fail
  323. >how high up is the peridot
  324. >and what's the distance between the peridot and FOMALHAUT
  325. [OUTPUT: About halfway up the ramp.]
  326. [OUTPUT: And, around a meter or so.]
  327. >What's the barrel's explosion radius?
  328. >yeah we're not covering that distance with the barrel
  329. >uh, recount terms of challenge
  330. [OUTPUT: Not die.]
  331. >...
  332. >gee that's fucking specific
  333. >Is our water strong enough to pick one of them up?
  334. >oh wait
  335. >nevermind
  336. >hm
  337. >try to get more info on the specifics of the challenge
  338. [OUTPUT: Jade complies, glaring daggers at Vardiveig all the while. "Conditions... altered. You make sure these two don't get away."]
  339. >:/
  340. >:/
  341. >"amazing"
  342. >eldritchabomination aodatathingy
  343. >contemplate how difficult it would be with vardiveig's help
  344. [OUTPUT: You don't even *know* what FOMALHAUT's capable of.]
  345. >How close is the calcite to FORMALHAUT?
  346. >formalhaut
  347. >they're now wearing a suit
  348. >amazing
  349. **FORMALHAUT. 9/20/16.**
  350. >it's a very nice suit
  351. [OUTPUT: The calcite is at the bottom of the ramp.]
  352. [OUTPUT: You already know where FOMALHAUT is, and now you know where the calcite is.]
  353. >okay so
  354. >What's the distance between them, in effective barrel explosion radius units
  355. >how big of an explosion did the last barrel create...
  356. [OUTPUT: It was sizable enough. It caved the mines in above you.]
  357. >...alright then
  358. >Sizable enough to murder both of them?
  359. >uh, chuck a pebble at fomalhaut experimentally
  360. >see how good their reaction time is
  361. [OUTPUT: You chuck a pebble at Jade. There is a flash of light, and the thing sails away from her in halves. It looks like she was just showing off.]
  362. >...alright then
  363. >about how fast was that
  364. [OUTPUT: Around half of a second, definitely.]
  365. >yeah no way we're wasting the barrel
  366. >yeah
  367. [OUTPUT: What do you do?]
  368. >what are our options?
  369. [OUTPUT: You can comply with Jade's request, and attack Vardiveig and Verda, or attack the Imperium gems.]
  370. Yung Venuz: I'm going to assume the only real reason we have to not kill the gems is the death risk?
  371. Yung Venuz: Besides plenty of others i have probably overlooked.
  372. >well, we're not attacking vardiveig.
  373. >so, imperium it is.
  374. >I guess the thing is, *how* do we attack them.
  375. >should we fuse?
  376. >everyone's scattered.
  377. >ah.
  378. >knowing the syllables would be great right about now.
  379. >jade has a really good reaction time so we can't barrel them
  380. >yeah
  381. >fomalhaut
  382. >rather
  383. >...I just thought of somethin fucking horrible
  384. >?
  385. >what if this is where our favor for malpeiyc comes in or something
  386. >and we need to do something so he could bust us out of this
  387. >nah
  388. >hm.
  389. >we can win this, i think
  390. [*You think I'm going to waste my favor on something as hilarious as this? Yeah right.*]
  391. >kek.
  392. >kek
  393. >it's just a matter of proper stratgey
  394. >the reason the crystal gems won last time was because they had a half human that was immune to gem destabilization tech.
  395. >thanks malpeiyc for preventing stupidity
