*This is extremely well spotted*. Not only is this a clever cut but it's also a *very sneaky edit*. What I have to say will only make sense to those who actually step through the footage frame by frame with a video editor. I am referring to the original footage between 20s and 21.5s. (What I have to say will likely need to be written up better.)


First of all - the general "style" of cut we see is a "zoom cut". This is an innocent enough video editing technique that helps to keep those with *poor attention spans* "interested". A casual viewer would think that all they did was play the video. Paused the video to perform the cut. Zoomed in. Then resumed playing to complete the "zoom cut". *But that's not what actually happened* (which is why this was well spotted).


First of all - if this was innocent then here is how it would have been explained. The zoom cut took place *but restarted a few frames back* (instead of a smooth transition). If this were a *normal* and *innocent* "zoom cut" then you'd simply call it "sloppy editing" (because it's not a smooth transition) and move on. _But again - that's not what actually happened_.


When you pause the video just prior to the cut and step backwards a few frames you can see where the "cut" was supposed to be (just as his lips closed). Advance forward a few frames (but still prior to the actual cut) and take note of his eyes and lip movement. If this were an innocent "zoom cut" then we can expect to see those same few frames repeated *only now zoomed in* (hence a sloppy edit).


However - when you examine the frames immediately following the "zoom cut" *you can see he closes his eyes and his mouth begins to form a different shape*. _This would indicate a completely different take!_ But there's a problem. His arm movements and hand positions are as we would expect it to be with an innocent zoom cut *using a single take* (i.e., just sloppily done).


And so what makes this a (very) "sneaky edit" is that his body movements and hand positions *are in motion* as we would expect (moving downwards) seemingly with a single take *but his mouth and eyes are different* (suggesting two different takes).


*What we see in this clip is suggestive of "motion capture" where his body motions were recorded separately to his speaking movements and the speaking portion placed over the top*. For example - if you record 25 seconds of someone in genuine weightlessness (everyone accepts 25-30 seconds of usable "weightlessness" in a zero-g plane) *performing movements very quickly with a high-speed camera* [these days even an iPhone can record HD at 120-240 frames per second] then when that footage is played back at a normal frame rate (24-30 fps) the movements appear "normal" (because they were initially performed at an accelerated rate) but the *appearance of weightlessness* will now be significantly extended. The problem with this technique is that speech becomes impossible. And so the speech component is recorded separately and normally (though likely while posing in a similar position to make it easier *but this has no need to be done in weightlessness*) and is then placed over the top using "motion capture". _If there is a magic trick to what is happening with the "ISS" then this is probably how it is done (for at least some of the "ISS" videos)._


But the lie system *does not make mistakes* - that is an axiom. So we cannot expect to catch out "NASA/ESA" so easily. We can expect that upon further scrutiny we will find something that invalidates the proposition of his body motions being filmed in a single take (thus misdirecting us from "motion capture" as a technique). If you observe the thumb on his left hand *it has changed its position* between cuts. It could be that his thumb position has been digitally altered in order to prevent us from claiming "his body motions were filmed in one take".


"NASA/ESA" can now claim it really was a completely different take (even if it wasn't) and there is no way to prove otherwise. By making a subtle change to the video like that *we in the audience can no longer prove the body motions were filmed in a single take* because there is now a "deal breaking" change (the thumb position).


Now - even if that change is innocent and not a digital alteration (i.e., not done to mask the body movements being filmed in a single take) then what we have here is proof that "NASA/ESA" are very much in the business of making completely different takes appear to be singular and seamless. Just like with the "brushing of teeth" video. This is on that level though more subtle.


_The sneaky edit in this clip is entirely unnecessary._


*If it's all innocent* then that means at best "Thomas Pesquet" paused in mid motion then resumed what he was doing and at worst means it means it was a completely different take and "Thomas Pesquet" performed near-identical movements - but why? The only reason would be to fool us into thinking it was a single take! For what "NASA" and "ESA" are supposed to be - that's highly unnecessary and time-wasting - for isn't their time too precious and limited to worry about seamlessly joining multiple edits as though it's a single take?! (And all for an audience of people who have a low attention span!)


*IF IT'S NOT INNOCENT* - then what we see is *suggestive of using "motion capture"* to overlay speaking movements on top of body movements and the thumb position change serving as a so-called "counter forensics" precaution (to say "that's not true!" to the accusation of the body movements being performed in a single take).


I am still writing a substantial post on this very "motion capture" technique (though it's quite simple and I've outlined it above) and this video provides a good reason to take that technique as a serious possibility. I have likely not explained things very well (typing quickly) and will aim to be more clear about these points later.
