and Keith can't breathe, he can't scream, hes pounding his fist against the arm or clawing at the fingers, kicking out, anything to get just one more breath of air except its not working, hes dying slow and painful and with shiros terrified face the only thing he can see

And it might just be a hunk of metal and wires, but he knows from the way that he can feel the pressure of his fingers against his skin that he'll feel whatever Keith does to his arm, too.
It'll hurt just as much as it did the first time, but if it keeps Keith safe, then it's worth it.

GOD its almost lucky because. its advanced Galra tech. if keith had any old knife it probably wouldn't do much, at least he's not losing anything more. It sure doesn't make it hurt any less the first time keith stabs him though.
and keith is good with a knife, he knows what he's doing, he could figure out the best way to do this if it were any other time or place or situation but its killing him. He's losing feeling, Shiros voice is getting dimmer, every second he isn't tearing away at metal and wires is one hes wasting

and Keith is good with quiet, nobody needs to say anything because he and Shiro just get each other. theres this small, stupid part of him that wants to say everything will be alright as long as they just. stay right here. He knows it won't be that easy, especially when Shiro's always been tougher on himself than anyone else and they're facing what feels like the impossible right now but
it feels nice, right here and now, to just hold on to Shiro until they feel like normal people for a minute
