- Jeanne-Vielle is a direct descendant of Valkyrie, who fought famously against the Ruiner (a large, demonic dragon) by the side of Captain Hafþór many many years ago, though both of their names have faded into myth or legend depending on whom you ask.
- After their battle, Valkyrie realized that the endless slaughter would only bring more slaughter, rather than bringing peace. She raised her descendants to be healers rather than warriors, and they lived their lives in pursuit of protecting as many as possible.
- Many generations down the line, Jeanne-Vielle's father is the surgeon-general of a city called Heiwa and her mother is the head nurse for their small but respectable militia. Jeanne-Vielle wished to protect people as well, but like her older sister Aya-Gozen, was not born with the healer's gift, but instead a firey courage and spirit reminiscent of the long-passed Valkyrie. Like all the males in her direct family line, Jeanne-Vielle was genetically male, but appeared female in nearly every way, and chose to live her life as one. Her Father married into the family and was the only member alive of the said family who appeared to be male through and through.
- Aya joined the royal army in hopes of protecting people the only way she knew how, while the younger Jeanne-Vielle studied in the monasteries back home after realizing that the tradition of healing was not suited for her unlike her parents. Aya-Gozen's enlistment took her far away from home, and she fought many battles with a descendant of Hafþór himself, a mountain of an orc known as Strauss in an ironic but fitting twist of fate.
- Jeanne-Vielle never knew much about how her sister lived, until one horrifying night. She had a dream more vivid than any other, one where she watched her older sister fend off countless monsters of the sea alongside Strauss. Though no one alive could confirm if the dream was real or not, let alone how accurate to reality it was, Jeanne-Vielle witnessed Aya-Gozen in this dream invoke the spirit of Valkyrie in a paragnostic display of the divinity. Her spirit wielded wind and water itself and fended off a Kraken in order for the other soldiers to escape. Strauss was wounded, but managed to survive and was sent home due to injury. Aya-Gozen was never seen again after her and the Kraken went underwater.
- Jeanne-Vielle was uncertain of her dream, especially due to how impossible the display of faith was, and never mentioned it to anyone, but the worst part of it was the only thing she was ever certain of. This was proven to her as some time later Strauss visted the family with the spear she left behind, and returned it to the only rightful inheritor. Whether or not Valkyrie, or even Aya-Gozen ever achieved a form of Divinity or found paradise in an afterlife as compensation for their sacrifices, Jeanne-Vielle was utterly convinced they both did. The common religion of humanity was not fit for her, and she turned to the Orc's Gods, believing almost fanatically in the spirit of the Valkyrie as one of them and choosing to follow in her footsteps the very same way Aya-Gozen did.
- This would lead her to train under Strauss after she begged him for nearly 8 weeks before he finally agreed, and she left her family to begin her pilgrimage as a warrior of the Valkyrie. Strauss, now an ex captain, in an effort to keep the only promise he ever made to Aya-Gozen, agreed to travel with Jeanne-Vielle in order to continue watching over her, as well as fight beside her should the field of battle call to them once again.
- ___
- This training took place in a new monastery of warrior monks. From all she had experienced, Jeanne-Vielle's behavior and demeanor was almost inhuman and unapproachable. This caused her even further isolation, and other than Strauss, never had many close friends at all. Many of those who ended up following her after witnessing her exploits feared her, but that fear eventually morphed into faith.
- Having been born with exceptional strength, and receiving exceptional training in the arts of Qi, Jeanne-Vielle never truly managed to understand humanity. The self-proclaimed avatar of the Valkrie fought countless battles, never suffering a defeat. Her frighteningly calm demeanor on the battlefield, never losing her smile even as bullets and arrows flew around her inspired countless stories amongst the warriors who fought with her and Strauss.
- Outside of battle, those impossible displays of life and death, the only other time Jeanne-Vielle ever truly felt human was when she was enjoying wine, spirits, and incenses with the other monks and warriors she trusted. In those evenings, she wasn't seen as the possibly immortal incarnation of the Valkyrie, but just another member in the monastery enjoying their time off. Though her smile stayed the same, her demeanor definitely changed in these evenings, and the people who spent them with her were among the few to ever hear her laugh and feel genuine joy.
- Many years later, at the age of 28, Jeanne-Vielle finally retired from battle. The near-constant seiging of castles and fortresses began to feel tiresome and somewhat troublesome to her, and she felt if she continued these battles would never truly end. Ironically, she came to nearly the same conclusion that her ancestor did, and after spending as much time as she felt necessary with all those she had come to know, said her goodbyes and wandered off into the sunset. Strauss stayed behind, a proper orc to his core and knew he had done everything he promised his old friend and Jeanne-Vielle's older sister. The rest of his life would be spent fighting and training the next generation to protect what mattered to them, and he eventually died in combat, proudly fulfilling his destiny.
- Jeanne-Vielle on the other hand, was not truly an orc, and was not destined for death in battle. Whether it was a blessing from the divines above, or merely a twist of fate, her travels eventually led her to a rip in the weave of reality and to the Nexus. Hopefully here, she could spend the rest of her days doing what she truly enjoyed the most: having fun with people who did not see her as inhuman. She never looked too deeply into the reasoning for her arrival, and simply considered the Nexus as the long-awaited paradise she deserved at the end of her life. The only regret she had, was that she never met the Valkrie or Aya-Gozen again, but she came to terms with that reality and assumed that they had finished their time in paradise and moved on to be reborn again in the future.
