  2. @Max: That's actually like. My least favourite Wasserman song? It lacks the type of energy his stuff usually has
  3.
  4. 20:12 <Zarek>
  5. I kinda don't like the idea of label locking. It feels very restrictive on what is, to me, one of the coolest mechanics in Masks -- the ever-changing nature of the labels. Plus when you DO shift labels that gives you less room to work with because you can't change one of them. I get that it's trying to reflect coming into yourself, but it doesn't f
  6. 20:12 eel like something I want to get as part of an advancement because it feels like a DOWNGRADE.
  7.
  8. 20:12 <maxwellelvis>
  9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edbl6_OxRIE This one's Jeremy Sweet, but...
  10.
  11. 20:13 <Duraz>
  12. one thing is that it allows you to protect part of your character that you want to preserve
  13. 20:13 imagine if we were less cooperative about what we shifted when we shifted one another's labels
  14. 20:14 you might appreciate the chance to say "Nope. My Danger's max, and will stay max!"
  15.
  16. 20:14 <Mukora>
  17. Max doesn't seem THAT dangerous
  18.
  19. 20:14 <Duraz>
  20. also, I get the impression that we're supposed to run through Masks characters faster than we are
  21.
  22. 20:15 <Zarek>
  23. I get it from a design perspective, but I just. Don't really wanna do it. At best I'd wanna get Red up to 3 Danger and then lock her there because that's the stat she's probably least likely to think is fluctuating, but even then, I JUST recently lowered Danger, so.
  24.
  25. 20:15 <Duraz>
  26. so locking a label wouldn't be something that lasts for as long, because you're doing it in preparation for sending them out to be a paragon of the city and rolling up a new one
  27.
  28. 20:16 <Mukora>
  29. It's odd that characters can't die if they expect you to roll new ones pretty often
  30.
  31. 20:17 <Zarek>
  32. It's a superhero game, of course characters don't die.
  33.
  34. 20:17 <Duraz>
  35. but you can have them retire (to be safe from the GM forever more) or become paragons (adult hero NPCs, essentially)
  36.
  37. 20:17 <Mukora>
  38. Superheroes die all the time!
  39.
  40. 20:17 <Duraz>
  41. and depending on how your sessions go, you can get to the point where that's mechanically possible pretty fast
  42.
  43. 20:18 <Zarek>
  44. It's entirely possible for most of our characters to retire or become paragons right now, I think.
  45.
  46. 20:18 <Duraz>
  47. next level, I could
  48. 20:18 probably won't, but could
  49.
  50. 20:18 <Zarek>
  51. There's a part of me that aaaaalmost wishes the game DIDN'T give you potential when you failed a roll.
  52.
  53. 20:18 <Duraz>
  54. I wish it was more stable
  55. 20:19 doesn't have to be fast, but steady
  56.
  57. 20:19 <Zarek>
  58. I'm okay with it not being stable because it's keeping me from having to change Red's playbook (which I'll probably do fairly soon, I don't wanna retire her yet)
  59.
  60. 20:20 <Duraz>
  61. now, after that, you'd still have the same number of advancements marked, right?
  62.
  63. 20:20 <Zarek>
  64. I've been assuming you get the new playbook's advancement list.
  65.
  66. 20:21 <Duraz>
  67. you do, but you have to stay under the line
  68.
  69. 20:21 <Zarek>
  70. It would seem odd to change playbooks but STILL be right on the verge of HAVING to retire the character.
  71. 20:21 Under the line?
  72.
  73. 20:21 <Duraz>
  74. I mean, the halfway line?
  75.
  76. 20:22 <Zarek>
  77. The halfway line in the advancements? Not sure I follow.
  78.
  79. 20:22 <Duraz>
  80. after the first five advancements, you can go over the line into the next set?
  81. 20:22 when you change books, I think that you start under the line
  82.
  83. 20:22 <Zarek>
  84. Ohhh, okay.
  85.
  86. 20:23 <Duraz>
  87. oop, I'm being summoned
  88.
  89. 20:23 <Mukora>
  90. I like that the Delinquent's Moment of Truth is like a perfect setup for playbook change.
  91. 20:23 ← Duraz left ([email protected])
  92.
  93. 20:26 <Zarek>
  94. I have the problem that the playbook I most likely want to change Red to is a playbook already in play.
  95.
  96. 20:27 <Bocaj>
  97. Yeah?
  98.
  99. 20:27 <Zarek>
  100. I was thinking Janus.
  101.
  102. 20:27 <Bocaj>
  103. Have Red arm wrestle Iguana over it
  104.
  105. 20:28 <Zarek>
  106. Though I do have other potential options.
  107.
  108. 20:29 <maxwellelvis>
  109. Funny thing, Zarek, looks like they found a similar thing to your solution to the Hunter dilemma.
  110.
  111. 20:29 <Zarek>
  112. What, with the distinctions and bonds? I noticed the similarity, yeah.
  113. 20:30 Oh, actually, wait, did you mean the Innocent?
  114. It just occurred to me that's probably a more apt comparison.
  115. 20:30 → Wackd joined ([email protected])
  116.
  117. 20:30 <maxwellelvis>
  118. The Innocent, I meant.
