  1. [08:00:38] Saulot was spending plentiful of time practising the Art of Riftmancy, which put a slightly weary state upon him; his mana circuits were at exhaust in fact, due to how strenuous Rift Magic on it's own is. What's making is worse is the fact that you must do it through cognitive casting technique, which was even far more challenging for any Magi. But he handled it, and made a trip to Nostvale for re-supply.
  2.
  3. The trip to the market after reaching Nostvale was brief, and fetching himself a map of the desert alongside with some notes was more than enough. But there was one disturbing note that he received on the market after inquiring about the Stinnox Cave, which supposedly had many people fallen in there, even including Magi - which led Saulot to a thought that he could possibly find something in there.
  4. ________________________________
  5.
  6. The note said: "It is hightly recommended to keep moving throughout the cave while you fight, or else you'll get swarmed."
  7. ________________________________
  8.
  9. Well, what a breather, really. It was frustrating to some extent, knowing that he could simply die in there during his search - but he stumbled upon Mallroth, an old friend of his. Perhaps he could help?
  10.
  11. "Mallroth! Good to see you again. How are you doing?"
  12.
  13. He briefly inquired to his old friend after bumping upon him on the street.
  14.
  15.
  16. (Saulot Vykos)
  17. [08:06:36] Mallroth had spent the majority of his day holed up in the inn, drinking his crowns away with his sorrow. He walked sluggishly, with his eyes half-closed, stuck upon the walkway paved with cobblestones. The alcohol, unlike other times, sunk him into darker thoughts. Maybe his brother were, indeed, dead, maybe even with their bodies burned to ashes and blown by the wind.
  18.
  19. The man stopped upon hearing a familiar voice. His eyes slowly begun climbing up the figure until they met its face, recognising it as his friend, Saulot. A smile appeared in the corner of his face as he greeted him with a nod.
  20.
  21. "Saulot. Greetings.", he begun, keeping his eyes only half-open. "I am doing alright. How about yourself?", he lied, maintaining a weak smile upon his visage.
  22. (Mallroth Eklund)
  23. [08:10:01] There was certainly something in Mallroth's posture that suggested something is up... but he remembered - he didn't see Cyrillim for ages. That wasn't hard to figure out why would Mallroth spend his time drinking away, as suggested by sluggish walk; well, at least, Mallroth would likely sober up during their trip, as it would take some time after all.
  24.
  25. "Greetings. I'm in dire need of help. Have you ever heard of the cave in the desert? I wished to take the trip there for treasures and possibly other things. Would you like to tag along?"
  26.
  27. He had figured that Mallroth has nothing better to do other than drinking away, so he might as well agree. Besides, Saulot had helped Mallroth in the past, even moreso paid for his recovery, so Saulot was hoping that Mallroth would repay the favors.
  28.
  29. Would he though? He wasn't entirely sure just how far Mallroth's morale code stretches out when it comes to paying back the debts.
  30. (Saulot Vykos)
  31. [08:15:08] Mallroth cocked up his eyebrows as his eyes opened up fully. An adventure? Well that would probably help in driving away dark thoughts. Or even provide some answers.. answers in death. The man ndded his head, pressing his lips together.
  32.
  33. "Sure I'll help you, friend.", he said without a trace of hesitation, taking several steps in Saulot's direction. "Have you found information about things hidden within?", he asked with interest as he straightened his back, seemingly trying to get himself back in shape.
  34.
  35. Mallroth hadn't been doing any sort of adventuring in the past few months, maybe even years. He took Saulot's proposal with a dash of excitement.
  36. (Mallroth Eklund)
  37. [08:15:08] Annastasia: ((hi
  38. [08:16:00] Saulot Vykos: (hello)
  39. [08:16:00] Annastasia: (may I join?
  40. [08:16:00] Saulot Vykos: (sure)
  41. [08:16:00] Saulot Vykos: (its about to lead to one trip though, so unless ur char would tag along, this rp would likely be short)
  42. [08:16:51] Annastasia: (o...
  43. [08:16:51] Annastasia: (trip to?
  44. [08:16:51] Saulot Vykos: (stynnox cave in the desert for search of hidden arts)
  45. [08:17:42] Annastasia: (sure
  46. [08:20:16] At last, he found an ally to assist him in such matters. He knew that the Stynnox Cave was dangerous, so he needed every pair of hands he could possibly get without a question.
  47.
  48. "Thank you, Mallroth. We'll be heading out in a bit, just need to check and make sure that all of the provision is in place."
  49.
  50. What kind of a trip would that be if he didn't grab any food or water for the road to the desert? Only a foolish traveller would have no supplies with himself, but that was not the case with Saulot - in fact, he was carrying a backpack that was hung by straps on his back above the mantle, and on top of that, yet another bag that was hung by the shoulder strap, although hidden underneath his mantle.
  51.
  52. It wasn't heavy for him to carry any of that. Gladly, as Magi, he could empower his body physically almost anytime and carry such weight with ease, unlike common people.
  53.
  54. "I advise you to gear up and prepare for the long road too. I already have supplies for a whole group, but you can never be too sure."
  55. (Saulot Vykos)
  56. [08:21:07] Saulot Vykos: (if u want to join anastasia u can drop the post)
  57. [08:21:07] Saulot Vykos: (this is going for application, so the more rp & more posts - the merrier)
  58. [08:28:48] Annastasia: (sorry
  59. [08:28:48] Annastasia: (had writers block
  60. [08:28:48] Annastasia: (ill cy@ XP
  61. [08:28:48] Saulot Vykos: (its ok)
  62. [08:29:39] Mallroth Eklund: (lol aight)
  63. [08:33:55] Mallroth nodded his head in agreement. He travelled back and forth for the past couple of years - he knew better than to delve into the desert unequipped. He opened his cloak, revealing his garments and the various satchels attached to the straps that traverse his body. He begun digging his hands through them, checking each and every one for provisions he usually had stocked.
  64.
  65. The man snorted audibly as he looked up towards Saulot. "I am missing a little bit of food, but if you say you've enough for the whole group then I suppose we're good to go. Or, I am, at least.", he uttered. The man walked to his right slowly, approaching the river beside which he kneeled. He lowered his bandaged hands, cupping them under he water and bringing them rapidly to his face, splashing the water upon it to sober himself up further.
  66.
  67. He shakes his head, inhaling deeply before pushing himself up to face Saulot once more.
  68. (Mallroth Eklund)
  69. [08:37:20] Then there was no time to waste. He nodded along, and spoke to Mallroth right after it as all set - indeed, he had enough provision for them two, and even more people, but had just that as a safeguard to ensure that they wouldn't be lacking anything at all.
  70.
  71. "Let's go then. The road to that cave can take few hours if we're at a quick pace, and we should be there by the evening. It wouldn't be far too long, I think, as both of us can move fast."
  72.
  73. Saulot immediately turned on his feet to proceed to the said cave. He gestured to Mallroth to follow him suit, and hopefully he would - the time in the trip that they would certainly spend should help Mallroth sober up even further.
  74.
  75. Also, the Stynnox Cave is quite dangerous after all. The thrill of the danger and adrenaline rush would finish the job with him getting sober, if time spent on the road wouldn't.
  76. (Saulot Vykos)
  77. [08:43:18] The road took them few hours indeed; both of them were formidable enough to travel the desert. Surprisingly, Saulot had managed to lead the two around the bandit groups and wandering Stinnox beasts. The hot sun was shining up them, and during that Saulot threw his hood on in hopes to shield his head from a possible sun stroke - that wouldn't be really nice to get now, would it? There was still stuff to do, and such could not be allowed.
  78.
  79. During the road, he obviously shared his provisions with Mallroth. The trip across the desert on feet might be strenuous, and considering that they actually ran to the required location, it was only all more harder to pull off. And why would they run? Because otherwise the trip would take far longer, up to day for the very least, if they're lucky.
  80.
  81. A lot of water was drank from the sacs that he shared with Mallroth, and he was glad that he prepared much. There were stops for a quick snack too, considering that the desert could easily drain all energy from men and such rest would be more than just required from time to time.
  82.
  83. Truth be told, it was one of the reasons why he wanted to study Riftmancy. Imagine all this distance defied in a blink of an eye? That would be a bliss for a traveller such as himself.
  84.
  85. But at last, they reached the cave.
  86.
  87. "Mallroth, we reached it."
  88.
  89. Saulot spoke with a sigh of relief as yet another drop of sweat rolled down his head. Even if it were few hours, due to fact that they were running quick it seemed to last an eternity, exhausting the magi to a decent extent.
  90.
  91. "Give me a moment."
  92.
  93. Saulot was breathing quick and in rapid pace. Of course, he was catching a second wind after all, and he had to carry the provision as well after all - whether or not it was light for his strength is another story, that's still extra weight regardless.
  94. (Saulot Vykos)
  95. [08:50:08] Mallroth slowed down to an eventual halt as the duo got close enough to the cave. He planted his hands onto his knees, breathing heavily and cannoning a ball of saliva mixed with mucus upon the hot, desert sand. He kept his eyes locked upon the sand, allowing saliva to drool off his bottom lip. The man had clearly lost some of his touch. Normally such distance wouldn't have this much of an effect upon him.
  96.
  97. He pushed himself back up, straightening his spine before stretching his back slightly, allowing his eyes to drop upon Saulot. "Finally.", he uttered, wiping his forehead and mouth as he allowed his gaze to circle the surroundings. A soft breeze slowly begun caressing the duo's faces.
  98. (Mallroth Eklund)
  99. [08:53:32] Saulot had his posture slightly leaned forward too with the rapid breath escaping his lips here and then; it was tough to make the distance across the desert this long and at such quick pace, but that was necessary to do if they wanted to reach the cave within few hours and not a full day. And if anything, Saulot was short on time - besides, the hunters that were going after him would have a very hard time locating him anywhere if he had went into Stinnox Cave by now.
  100.
  101. "Alright, let's move in."
  102.
  103. He spoke to Mallroth after catching the breath. The gaze was cast upon his companion, as if re-assure himself that he was indeed ready whilst he stood just infront of the entrance.
  104.
  105. And to be frank, those Stinnox beasts that were wandering around the cave weren't really giving much liberty to just stick around outside. What if they would notice the duo and thus act aggressive? That could become a disaster, the whole hive of Stinnox scorpions would be awakened within the cave.
  106.
  107. It would turn from adventure into deathwish trip instead if that was the case.
  108. (Saulot Vykos)
  109. [08:54:24] Saulot Vykos: (wanna drop a post or nah? ill carry on if not)
  110. [08:54:24] Mallroth Eklund: (Go on. I'll let you lead this since it's your thing. I'll drop a post when I find the good spot to do so)
  111. [08:57:48] Ah, the relief of the cavern and the chill of death and despair lingering in the air. This cave was a grave for many people, and Saulot knew that all too well. The sharp wheezes of the large scorpions, the sounds of their screeches, perhaps a distant scream of a traveller that got caught within their claws and failed to escape - this cacophony of horrible sounds made it's own, eerie, disturbing atmosphere of the cave.
  112.
  113. This was a place of death, not the refuge as many travellers would think due to initial appearance.
  114.
  115. The desert was unforgiving, but this place was even harsher than the misstress out there. Saulot's brow arched upon all of these sounds and he threw a gaze back at Mallroth; instinctively, Saulot grabbed his staff and held it ready. What if he'd have to defend himself out of the sudden once the scorpions jump them?
  116.
  117. He read the note once more; on the other side, there was a small draft of the map about it. According to it, the entrances ahead of them just led into room of pile. But perhaps it was worth to check it?
  118.
  119. "Let's go forward for now."
  120. (Saulot Vykos)
  121. [08:58:40] Mallroth Eklund: (I'll drop a short line in the meantime as well)
  122. [08:58:40] Saulot Vykos: (alright)
  123. [08:58:40] Saulot Vykos: (ill go after u then)
  124. [08:59:31] Mallroth Eklund: (begin your post, it won't have much impact overall, I suppose)
  125. [09:00:22] Saulot Vykos: (lag)
  126. [09:02:04] Mallroth squinted his eyes as he entered the cave alongside his companion - his hand grasping the hilt of his dagger and slowly drawing it in attempt to be as silent as possible. His gaze travelled across the interior of the cave, trying to make up the details and any creature that might be creeping in the dark. Realising that they could be dealing with much larger creatures, Mallroth kept his dagger in one hand and with the other he reached behind his back, grasping his javelin.
  127.
  128. He followed Saulot in a segment that lied forth. His eyes widened slightly as before them stood tables and various crated scattered across the room. His eyebrows furrowed.
  129.
  130. "And what is this?", he spoke softly, not to loud in attempt to not attract too much attention to themselves.
  131. (Mallroth Eklund)
  132. [09:04:38] The duo made their way inside of the room, but... was it a refuge of sort for the wanderers? This felt like a hole to die in if Stinnox beasts would corner you, and besides there was no library or anything of sort that could possibly benefit, other than probably decayed provision in those boxes and barrels. Saulot sighed, it seemed that it was a waste of time to go in here, but whatever - at least now they'll know what's in here, and could possibly use this area in the future.
  133.
  134. "Seems like some sort of barracks to me... I've heard the tales about Sarradians living in the desert. I suppose this place was once their, but they were pushed back by Stinnox beasts and no longer reside here."
  135.
  136. What a shame, really. Sarradians were quite nice people from what Saulot heard, but they were nowhere to be found around here.
  137.
  138. "Let's go outside. We'll be going to the left side at first, then explore the cave as we go."
  139.
  140. There wasn't any point to stay here anymore. The weapons in the boxes were most likely broken or dull, and any provision that could be hidden in the boxes or barrels would certainly be rotten and spoiled. Much time has passed, and there surely was no maintanance for these.
  141. (Saulot Vykos)
  142. [09:07:12] Viridian Legionnaire: You will cease and desist!
  143. [09:07:12] Mallroth Eklund: (That Viridian Legionnaire scared me lmao)
  144. [09:07:12] Saulot Vykos: (lmao)
  145. [09:08:03] Those larger beasts were encountered... but thanks to staying in the shadows, Mallroth and Saulot were able to evade them, for now.
  146.
  147. Hoooo boy. The next room had /way/ more Stinnox beasts in there. It seems they would not go without a fight here, even if they tried.
  148.
  149. "Mallroth, be ready to strike..."
  150.
  151. He spoke softly as if to not irritate the whole cavern full of those beasts at once. The scorpions ahead already took a notice of the duo, and began hissing, flashing their poisonous tails and clawing at the air. Obviously, there was the presence of Occultic powerful magic about Saulot, and animals could feel it, thus would not be eager to dash in and attack - he was labeled dangerous in their eyes, and Mallroth's hints of Depraivity weren't making it any better.
  152.
  153. "Follow up!"
  154.
  155. There wasn't any time to waste. If they kept hissing and drawing attention of their brethren, they'd simply die in here, getting overrun by those scorpions.
  156. (Saulot Vykos)
  157. [09:08:03] {combat} You killed a Poisonous Stinnox! (+10200 EXP, +561cr)
  158. [09:08:03] Mallroth Eklund assumes the Garuda stance!
  159. [09:08:03] {combat} You killed a Poisonous Stinnox! (+10200 EXP, +510cr)
  160. [09:08:03] Mallroth Eklund: (the lag)
  161. [09:08:03] {combat} You killed a Gargantuan Stinnox! (+9020 EXP, +287cr)
  162. [09:08:54] {combat} You killed a Gargantuan Stinnox! (+9020 EXP, +246cr)
  163. [09:08:54] {combat} You killed a Gargantuan Stinnox! (+9020 EXP, +451cr)
  164. [09:09:45] Saulot Vykos: (wanna drop a post?)
  165. [09:09:45] Mallroth Eklund: (Ye sec)
  166. [09:13:10] Mallroth followed Saulot throughout the cavern and, still feeling a glint of the faint gusts of wind that invaded the cavern, he focused his mind on enhancing said wind, giving the duo swifter movement as they manouvered around the cavern. On their way several beasts that felt their presence lashed at them and have been met either with Mallroth's blades or with Saulot's magic.
  167.
  168. They ran, moving through the caverns as fast as they could until they reached a narrow pass. Mallroth breathed heavily, glancing behind himself in paranoia as he awaited for a gesture from his companion. He knew not the passages in the cave.
  169. (Mallroth Eklund)
  170. [09:17:26] Saulot wouldn't abandon Mallroth to mercy of the beasts by leaving him behind and dashing off alone - not only that'd be an act of vile treachery, but also he would dig his own grave by going off alone. This cave was far too dangerous to lurk around alone, and the presence of vile Stinnox beasts had made it apparent.
  171.
  172. Dashing through the next area of the cavern, Saulot had made sure to cover Mallroth's back whenever that was needed, and so it seems Mallroth did the same in return. The two effectively combated those large scorpiosn and made their way to the next area, away and to safer location. But was it over? Oh, it was just getting started.
  173.
  174. "Come on, we have to keep moving."
  175.
  176. The screeches became apparent throughout the entire cave. The note wasn't lying, "keep fighting and running or be overrun". He knew of the fate for many travellers that dared to not follow this advise, and he wasn't going to repeat their fate, absolutely not.
  177.
  178. Saulot was breathing heavily but he still maintained a light jog to his pace, added up and aided by Mallroth's wind manipulation. It helped indeed - in fact, it was great help to their movement, ensuring that they would evade any Stinnox horde.
  179.
  180. But for how long?
  181. (Saulot Vykos)
  182. [09:18:17] Saulot Vykos: (dropping post or shud i?)
  183. [09:18:17] Mallroth Eklund: (I'll let you post. The lag is destroying me.)
  184. [09:18:17] Saulot Vykos: (alright)
  185. [09:18:17] Saulot Vykos: (same here lmao, but its not that terrible at least)
  186. [09:21:42] Panting heavily, the two made their way through the cavern. There were dead bodies scattered across the cavern - a clear testimony of the fact that this place became a grave for many, many travellers out there. It was a frightening thought to be torn apart by those large scorpions if they failed to dodge a strike or otherwise fall in battle, but would Saulot give up due to fear? No way.
  187.
  188. "Halt..."
  189.
  190. He placed his gloved hand over Mallroth's shoulder as the two jogged up to the next area. It's been quite a distance, thus gladly these scorpions still had no clue what's exactly going on, other than being slightly agitated due to screeching going on. There was /something/ for them, but they simply did not know what exactly it is.
  191.
  192. "Prepare to do what we just did before."
  193.
  194. With a grasp upon his weapon, and that is a staff, Saulot was slowly approaching those Stinnox beasts. It's either they prevail or the duo manages to dash their expectations of fresh meal to the ground, alongside with their bodies, of course.
  195.
  196. "Follow."
  197.
  198. It wouldn't take long for Saulot to start blasting yet another portion of magic.
  199. (Saulot Vykos)
  200. [09:22:33] {combat} You killed a Gargantuan Stinnox! (+9020 EXP, +410cr)
  201. [09:22:33] {combat} You killed a Fierce Stinnox! (+2250 EXP, +45cr)
  202. [09:22:33] Saulot Vykos joined the party!
  203. [09:22:33] {combat} You killed a Gargantuan Stinnox! (+9020 EXP, +328cr)
  204. [09:22:33] Saulot Vykos: (bruh your hp)
  205. [09:22:33] Saulot Vykos: (this is legit chance of death event lmao)
  206. [09:22:33] Mallroth Eklund: (Yeah FF is on)
  207. [09:23:24] Saulot Vykos: (ohhhhh)
  208. [09:23:24] Saulot Vykos: (so thats why)
  209. [09:23:24] Mallroth Eklund: (It was from your damage lmao that's why I added you to party)
  210. [09:24:16] Mallroth Eklund: (I'll drop a post in the next area)
  211. [09:26:49] Gladly the previous room wasn't as big as the first one, and those Stinnox beasts were quickly slaughtered by the two. The screeches began to echo throughout the cavern even more, agitating and alerting the remaining scorpions. How much time did they even have until the beasts would begin to swarm them, and eventually put their journey to the end?
  212.
  213. There was no point pondering too much about such, it would only drop Saulot's focus from the battle. Leading Mallroth after himself, Saulot was going to the only remaining area that could possibly be rich on the loot - the lair of the Stinnox Queen, the dangerous beast of the desert that resided in here.
  214.
  215. At least it wasn't that dark, there were torches across the walls wherever they walked. With a sigh, after realisation where Saulot had brought the two, he glanced at Mallroth.
  216.
  217. "Let's keep going." - he pointed at the Stinnox beasts ahead, clearly implying they have to keep fighting.
  218.
  219. But did the two really have any choice? The cavern was swarmed with these, and no way that could go without some bloodshed, whether their blood or their. Only one side would remain victorious.
  220.
  221. And Saulot was out of his way to make sure it would be his side.
  222. (Saulot Vykos)
  223. [09:26:49] {combat} You killed a Gargantuan Stinnox! (+9020 EXP, +246cr)
  224. [09:26:49] {combat} You killed a Poisonous Stinnox! (+10200 EXP, +510cr)
  225. [09:26:49] {combat} You killed a Poisonous Stinnox! (+10200 EXP, +510cr)
  226. [09:26:49] {combat} You killed a Poisonous Stinnox! (+10200 EXP, +510cr)
  227. [09:26:49] {combat} You killed a Poisonous Stinnox! (+10200 EXP, +459cr)
  228. [09:27:40] {combat} You killed a Poisonous Stinnox! (+10200 EXP, +255cr)
  229. [09:28:32] {combat} You killed a Poisonous Stinnox! (+10200 EXP, +306cr)
  230. [09:33:39] They moved in, greeting the venomous beasts with steel and magic. The wind that was swiftening their movements now became a mere breeze - they were too deep in the caverns for it to help them, and Mallroth wasn't that much of an adept magi to strengthen it any longer.
  231.
  232. He covered Saulot's back as they moved forth, allowing his companion to lead the way, slasing and poking at the beasts that closed up on them, dodging their stingers gracefully and striking with might. "I'll catch up with you, keep going!", he spoke as he took several more moments to strike his javeling through the heads of two stinnoxi that approached before immediately dashing forth to catch up with his companion.
  233.
  234. The duo halted at the what seemed to be the end of the cavern. As he walked, Mallroth did his best to avoid stepping on the bones that embroidered the floor of the cavern. He breathed heavily, feeling the air getting more and more tensionate. Glancing towards the wall he noticed the sihlouette of a mighty beast, lit up only partially by a nearby torch. His gaze turned to Saulot, inhaling deeply and clutching his weapons. "This looks bigger than any of those back there. We should be quick, more might be coming.", he spoke softly, keeping his gaze locked upon the mighty beast afterwards.
  235. (Mallroth Eklund)
  236. [09:38:46] This trip would sure be tough to ever pull off alone, and Saulot was glad that he had Mallroth with him, covering his back. The charges of lighting and shadowflame flew off his hands, sometimes striking against Stinnox with a tip of his staff to stun them, if only to use the magic to finish them off; the screeches of incoming horde of Stinnox were impending, much like the looming doom for the two. They were getting cornered in this area, whether they liked it or not - the dash of killings that they did was putting them in a bad position. But Saulot's mind was firmly set upon the task and he continued through.
  237.
  238. But his gaze stopped upon the Queen Stinnox, the large, dire beasts that would challenge the travellers as they came to her lair. She was far more stronger than any of the Stinnox they encountered before, and for a good reason. Saulot's eyes narrowed at that, and he shot a brief glance at Mallroth.
  239.
  240. "We have to hurry up. I hear all of them coming to defend their home, and I'll take the liberty to assume that this is the queen."
  241.
  242. And that was the case, indeed. If they dared to slay the queen, they'd face all of the Stinnox that were in this cave, as one unified force out there to crush them. There was no time to waste.
  243.
  244. "I'll get her attention, keep an eye out for the exit in case they arrive earlier! Get her from the back after I move in!"
  245.
  246. Saulot had the plan to go in first, figuring that Mallroth would best act if he had an opening to strike past the shell of the queen. After all, Stinnox carcass was known to be rather tough, even used as armor sometimes.
  247.
  248. "Let's go, we can't wait!" - he exclaimed, just before attacking the queen first.
  249. (Saulot Vykos)
  250. [09:39:37] {combat} You killed a Queen Stinnox! (+24400 EXP, +854cr)
  251. [09:39:37] Saulot Vykos: (drop the post if u wanna)
  252. [09:39:37] Mallroth Eklund: (I'm reading up sec)
  253. [09:45:36] As Saulot dashed forth to get the Queen's attention, Mallroth remained put for just a few second, glancing in the distance. His eyes squinted as the screeches became lounder and louder. He got carried away and awaited a second too long - Saulot was already battling the Queen. Mallroth immediately turned on his heels and dashed towards the collossal beast with breakneck speed. He dropped backwards, sliding through the bones and dirt underneath the qeen, pushing the blades of both of his weapons into the Stinnox's abdomen, causing its.. blood (?) to spray and pour over the man's garments.
  254.
  255. The beast screeched loudly in pain, echoing throughout the entire cave and attracting the attention of all the beings within - their Queen was in danger.
  256.
  257. Mallroth immediately pushed himself up and, having attracted the beast's attention to himself, he nimbly dodged its attacks, awaiting for Saulot to deliver a finishing strike upon it.
  258. (Mallroth Eklund)
  259. [09:54:59] The reaction from Saulot didn't have to wait - as soon as Mallroth did that, he unleashed absolute, full power of his blast upon the queen; it was a mix of lightning and fire alike, firing the magics at her much like a barrage cannon. The flames engulfed her in a horrible heat, whilst the lightning's electrocution reached all the way to the organs of the beast, inflicting immense pain and damage upon her.
  260.
  261. With the wounds upon vulnerable area inflicted by Mallroth, and devastating damage laid on top of that all over her body, it wouldn't be a matter of big time until the queen has fallen. Exhaling quietly once the deed was done, he glanced at his own hands that unleashed such power and shook them a bit, if only to make sure he didn't catch any flames on himself on accident.
  262.
  263. But there was no time to wait. He had figured that Mallroth would make his way from under the queen with ease, though to confirm such theory, he shouted out to him:
  264.
  265. "Mallroth, are you okay?"
  266.
  267. While at that, Saulot searched the corpses of the men dressed as magi. He tapped around for any notes, any magical knowledge that might be hidden in their long lost bags that were carried along with ther bodies and dropped off here, thus harboring some loot eventually. There were many items in general as well - the sheer number of bones and bodies at this place could already suggest that many travellers with their personal items ended up dying here.
  268.
  269. Bingo! It's like the fate itself was leading him. From yet another magi dressed as someone who'd belong to Azraelite religion, he found the notes upon Riftmancy; the notes were elaborating about the usage of Rift magic not only through cognitive magic, but through Mixed Casting.

  271.
  272. Note said the next: "One may draw the mana from their raw emotion, whether it be due to current situation or emotion associated with place, akin to Symbolic Magic technique. However, the casting process will still have to go through Cognitive Magic, thus making it Mixed Casting. You may only harness mana easier this way, but beware of excessive charge as it may bring harm to unprepared mana circuits."
  273. ____________________________
  274.
  275.
  276. So there was a chance to screw up... well that was just great. Seemingly there was nothing else related to Riftmancy. Sure, there were notes about Elemental Magic, perhaps even Spiritual Magic, but very little about Forbidden Arts. It was in fact his luck that Azraelite magi, who likely actively practiced it, had it here.
  277.
  278. "Mallroth, cover me! I'll get us out of here."
  279.
  280. There was no time. The Stinnox were at the exit already and blocking it out - if anything, Mallroth had to fight them while Saulot prepared escape.
  281. (Saulot Vykos)
  282. [10:02:40] After the Queen's fall Mallroth took no time to think, he noticed Saulot searching the corpses of the unfortunate and immediately placed himself at the entrence, bending his knees and entering a battle stance once more. The screeches and skittering sounds of the approaching Stinnox made up a terrifying symphony that echoed through the cave.
  283.
  284. He breathed heavily, glancing back at his companion before stepping forth, awaiting for the dire beasts to approach.
  285.
  286. They came. Mallroth immediately dashed forth, twisting and turning his body, flailing his arms like a hurricane - slashing and stabbing any moving thing around himself. He pierced skulls and tails and carcasses, dodging stingers and sharp limbs gracefully. He did his best. The stinnox tore at his garments and his bandages, exposing parts of his skin.
  287.
  288. Saulot better do something quick.
  289. (Mallroth Eklund)
  290.
  291. [SERVER CRASH]
  292.
  293. [10:41:04] And indeed, it would be better if Saulot did something as soon as possible. With the newly acquired notes, he began channeling his magic through fear and anxiety to escape this place alive after all. That part was of Symbolic Magic, but only served as a mana source, whereas Cognitive Technique still played the role in this Mixed Casting - he still connected the mana source to his consciousness as he normally would and channeled through visualization. But was it very wise to do at the moment?
  294.
  295. It was a strenuous task. He saw Mallroth ahead fighting off those vile beasts, all while the Rift took it's place with initial spark and began expansion. The voice echoed his head, much like a guidance to help him feed his emotion about the place he was going to:
  296.
  297. 'Imagine the blooming hills, full of life and breath of the wild to them...'
  298.
  299. That's it! He could always escape to Wychwood like this, as that place was all too familiar for him. Forcing his consciousness to work all of it's might to conjure the Rift, he called out to Mallroth while it was already getting prepared. Obviously, time was passing quick to conjure such Rift, considering the experience he had gotten previously - but to be honest, in such stressful situation, it was like each second was equal to a whole hour.
  300.
  301. "Mallroth, start getting back here!"
  302.
  303. Ripping apart the Lifestream itself through sheer willpower with cognitive technique, the amount of mana was more than enough, as it was drawn from the raw emotion of fear for a suitable magic - the magic that was intending to help them flee, escape this hell. It could only carry two, merely due to fact that Saulot had very little experience.
  304.
  305. "Run into light!"
  306.
  307. Saulot held the Rift for Mallroth, while his mana circuits were suffering immense stress... but for how long he could hold it? The experience almost became painful.
  308. (Saulot Vykos)
  309. [10:45:20] Mallroth flew backwards following a powerful hit by the tail of a Stinnox. His back hit the wall and, with a dull groan he quickly pushed himself back up and dashed to the side, unwilling to get completely swarmed by the beasts. He continued to slash and stab, all the while being force to allow strikes to be delivered in return.
  310.
  311. He heared his companion call out. Finally, there was hope. Mallroth tossed his javelin forward towards the head of one of the beasts, piercing through it whilst he turned on his heels to make a dash for his life. His eyes widened as before them Saulot stood engulfed by bright light. Following his words and adivce he leaped forth towards the light in hope of escaping. The skittering beasts approached quickly behind him.
  312. (Mallroth Eklund)
  313. [10:45:20] Saulot Vykos: (Just as a note for logs in application--)
  314. [10:46:11] Saulot Vykos: (About to do /roll since Saulot's mana circuits are being overcharged)
  315. [10:46:11] Saulot Vykos: (1-2 = bad temporary nerf, 3-4 = light temporary nerf, 5-6 = no nerf)
  316.
  317. [10:49:36] At least Mallroth made it out for sure... the Rift thinned out, as it could possibly only carry two people at this stage of experience. Saulot held it for one last second for himself, just before jumping into it; if he were any other second later, the beasts would swarm him and eat him alive.
  318.
  319. The two were transported to the Wychwood forest, upon the bloomy hill that Saulot knew all too well.
  320.
  321. But was the travel safe for them? Yes, it was. Though, was it safe for Saulot to do the magic that demanded such huge amounts of mana focused through Cognitive Magic Technique under such short amount of time, plus inexperienced? That could be something absolutely devastating for Saulot.
  322. (Saulot Vykos)
  323.
  324.
  325. SAULOT VYKOS ROLLED A DICE AND IT LANDED ON: 4
  326.
  327.
  328. [10:50:27] Saulot Vykos: (follow)
  329. [10:51:18] {combat} You killed a Lesser Yokai! (+300 EXP, +20cr)
  330. [10:56:25] Mallroth would land first upon the grassy land. He jumped in, sure, but the land would be rather safe - his fall is softened by blooming flowers and grass, and the beautiful land that was full of life. For a change, it was amazing to see such place after the cave that was bearing nothing short of stench of death, one that conjured an eerie atmosphere and a gut feeling that was simply telling you to get out as soon as possible.
  331.
  332. Right after Mallroth, Saulot followed up. He collapsed, and a pained expression soon was painted upon his face. He writhed on the ground with his teeth barred and heavily exhaled; the young magi did not dare to get up yet, as it were far too painful for him to do so.
  333.
  334. "Mallroth... are you okay?"
  335.
  336. His voice rang across the air, but the source was the fallen Magi with burned out circuits. Gladly, the damage wasn't big, but damn, the pain... He just wished it'd go away, if it even would at all.
  337. (Saulot Vykos)
  338. [11:02:24] Mallroth fell through the rift upon the grass, the blooming flowers caressing his exposed skin. The blood from his wounds painted the grass in a shade of crimson. The man widened his eyes, blinking several times in disbelief as his gaze wandered about in the new, strange land he now was. A few seconds ago the duo was about to be massacred by Stinnox.
  339.
  340. He breathed heavily and, after glancing around himself in paranoia a bit more, he allowed his body to drop back upon the grass, glancing towards Saulot. His eyebrows arched slightly as his facial muscles contorted into an expression of worry, noticing his companion being in pain.
  341.
  342. "I've.. seen better days.", he uttered shortly as he props himself in one elbow before approaching his companion. He rests his hand upon his shoulder and glances around before re-focusing on his visage. "That was-- That was amazing..- Is there anything I can do?!", he spoke, unknowing how to assist his friend.
  343. (Mallroth Eklund)
  344. [11:04:57] But was there anything that Mallroth could do about mana circuits? Probably not. Saulot pondered for an answer, but didn't want to answer 'no' as if there was absolutely nothing that Mallroth could go, in fact, there was. Saulot rose his torso just a bit, and pointed at the treehouse in the distance - the refuge that Saulot was using as of late to live around the Wychwood forest. He needed rest.
  345.
  346. "Just... get me over there... please."
  347.
  348. Saulot was doing his best to uphold the composure, but the burned mana circuits weren't really helping him with that, at all. He sighed, slowly trying to raise himself and be helped by Mallroth, but he was struggling to do so, clearly.
  349. (Saulot Vykos)
  350. [11:05:48] Saulot Vykos: (ill show u where it is script-wise after u drop the post)
  351. [11:08:22] Mallroth glanced over his shoulder to see the the treehouse Saulot spoke of before nodding his head. He carefully grasped upon his companion's arm, moving it over his shoulders and holding it in place with one of his hands. He then moved his free arm over Saulot's back and under his arms, helping him up slowly, in attempt to cause as little pain as possible.
  352.
  353. If he had not been hurt and fatigued, Mallroth would've tried to carry his companion in his arms, but the last thing the man would wish to risk right now is dropping Saulot accidentally,
  354.
  355. He moved slowly, holding Saulot up for him to move as little as possible.
  356. (Mallroth Eklund)
  357. [11:10:56] Slowly but steadily they reached the Treehouse hidden in the woods. Mallroth helped Saulot on the stairs and through the doors, finding his way to the bedroom. He carried his companion carefully and gently lowered him upon the bed, proceeding to drop backwards onto his bum and lean against the wall, breathing heavily.
  358.
  359. He looked up at the boy, wiping the sweat from his brow with his sleeve. "Did you get what you were looking for?", he asked as his gaze begun to wander around the room.
  360. (Mallroth Eklund)
  361. [11:15:12] A small sigh escaped his lips. At last, it was the time to rest and break away his mind from the risky situation that the two had gotten themselves into. But the pain was still there, and thus he needed some sleep - perhaps that'd help the recovery, after all.
  362.
  363. "Yes... I did. We escaped thanks to what I found."
  364.
  365. Clearly Saulot was looking for magical knowledge of sort, and at last, he found it. If it were capable of delivering people like this, one could figure out that it was an act of Riftmancy... if Mallroth had ever heard of such magic, of course. The Lifestream was bent in the caves, but Saulot could care less - those beasts could die from distortion for all he cared.
  366. (Saulot Vykos)
  367. [11:19:28] Mallroth nodded his head as a smile creeped into the corner of his mouth, followed by a light, hearty chuckle. "That surely was amazing, friend. You saved our skin there.", he uttered, his tone filled with grace.
  368.
  369. A deep sigh of relief exitted the man's mouth as he pushed himself up, stumbling towards another bed upon which he dropped. His eyes closed, blood still trinkling lightly from his wounds. But he could care less. He was way too fatigued to patch himself up for now, and the wounds weren't necessarily fatal. He released a dull grunt every now and again.
  370.
  371. "I am glad I helped you with this, however."
  372. (Mallroth Eklund)
  373. [11:19:28] Mallroth Eklund: I fucked up the code smh)
  374. [11:19:28] Saulot Vykos: (rofl)
  375. [11:21:10] "Thanks for that help, really. You helped me a ton."
  376.
  377. Saulot briefly uttered, though he couldn't stay up anymore. His eyes were closing due to sheer fatigue that he was experiencing, and a small yawn escaped his lips; his eyes soon closed, and he simply fell asleep, escased in his mantle and armor.
  378.
  379. The young magi was too tired to continue his training, but that was understandable. Perhaps another time he could finish it at last and grasp the art of Riftmancy as a whole.
  380. (Saulot Vykos)
