  1. Golem Rock/Ground Type 80 HP / 120 Attack / 130 Defense / 55 Sp. Atk / 65 Sp.Def / 45 Spd
  2. Abilities: Rock Head (This Pokemon takes no recoil damage from moves)
  3. Sturdy (This Pokemon can not be OHKO'd, and is left with 1 HP if a move would OHKO)
  4. Sand Veil (This Pokemon's evasion is increased by 20% in sandstorm)
  5. Golem has access to great STAB spread moves, and with great survivability, it proves to be a great attacker against pesky electric, fire, and flying pokemon. however it is very slow and has six weaknesses (grass and water do 4x damage.) Golem functions best on a trick room team because of its terrible defensive typing and poor speed.

  7. Golem @ Lum Berry / leftovers
  8. Ability: Sturdy
  9. EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
  10. Brave Nature
  11. IVs: 0 Spd
  12. - Fire Punch / Heavy Slam / Sucker Punch
  13. - Earthquake
  14. - Rock Slide / Stone edge
  15. - Protect

  17. Golem's best ability on any set is Sturdy because Sand Veil is illegal and it doesn't learn Head Smash. Earthquake and Rock Slide provide great coverage together. (you can run Stone Edge over Rock Slide, as it hits one opponent about twice as hard with a high crit ratio, but at the expense of missing twice as often and not causing flinches.) Fire Punch is the preferred coverage move, destroying grass and bug types that dare oppose earthquake's mighty wrath. Heavy Slam can be used if you're afraid of fairies for some reason. It hits every fairy for 120 base power. Sucker Punch is for impatient people who can't use protect while their teammate sets up Trick Room again.

  19. Team Options
  20. Golem would greatly appreciate a teammate with sandstorm to remedy it's tragic Special Defense. Musharna and Misdreavus also make great teammates for Golem as they are able to use Trick Room without getting hurt by Earthquake. Musharna has great options like Helping Hand, Heal Bell, and Light Screen. Misdreavus uses moves like Will-O-Wisp, Destiny Bond, and Perish Song. Maractus and Cradily would also make great teammates, providing a sound answer to water types like Floatzel and Golduck. If you're not running Sandstorm, i recommend Maractus over Cradily as it is a better switch-in to grass, and resists Golem's own Earthquakes.

  22. Other Options
  23. You might consider running an assault vest set especially if you aren't using Trick Room. If you're looking for sheer power, you can run Choice Band, but beware that you may have trouble ever attacking at all. Do not run Life Orb because you are sturdy. you could consider running Explosion on a Choice Band set if you're really brave.

  25. Checks and Counters:
  26. Anything with Aqua Jet is a serious threat (and the rhymes don't stop.) Golem is very weak to most special attacks, and anything that manages to attack before him becomes a threat. If Golem isn't holding Leftovers, one stray Fake Out could devastate him, rendering Sturdy useless. fortunately for Golem, there aren't many good priority attackers in NU.
