- Chapter 19 - 1756 to 17: The American Revolution
- When the Thirteen Colonies of the Empire of Britain came together, pushed out their oppressive overlords, and declared themselves as independent states, a decision remained to be had. How should these states be ruled? Under a single, central government that ties them all together? How should that government be ruled? Each state sends delegates to Delaware, the capital of the Colonies under the Empire. The states represented are Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Georgia, New Jersey, Rhode Island, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire.
- Several other influential figures also play a part. Verigan Cadwal is there, for one thing. In this first meeting of the Founding Fathers, many things are decided. Firstly, the new government of the States will be a Constitutional Republic, to ensure that no new tyrant will ever rule over the land again. Secondly, a temporary Chancellor is voted from among the Founder, a man named Qwerty Wulfwaru. Lastly, Verigan Cadwal, although he does not put himself forward, is quickly made General of the American Armies.
- A war strategy is quickly written up. Naturally, the States expect Galicia to come to their ally's aid, so the armies (which are being rallied at this moment) will subdue New Galicia quickly and easily. Only once their southern borders are secured will the armies turn toward the north, Radekzia, and deal a fatal blow to the last British colony on the mainland. The Founders expect to easily annex Radekzia into the new independent nation.
- They know it will be several months before British reinforcements will make it to America, so Verigan Cadwal quickly sets out to meet his armies in Georgia.
- Across the waters, the Empire is not in a good place. Their strongest colony has just declared independence, and several European nations have thrown this rebellious rabble their support. Russia, Carinthia (with their union partner Hungary), and Picardy.
- In August of 1756, Verigan Cadwal leads 24 thousand Americans into New Galicia, taking San Agustin and engaging a Galician army in Mayaca. The Galicians flee before their superior foes, and soon Mayaca is under siege.
- A new Admiral is chosen in Delaware, a talented man named Moosemac Eadbald. He leads the American navy to many victories.
- By 1757, all of Florida is occupied by the States. Cadwal orders the armies north. Come summer, the invasion of Radekzia will begin.
- Aquitaine withdraws after a Carinthian invasion. It hands over a pile of gold and monthly reparations for taking part in the war.
- To the north, Radekzian Loyalists have crossed the border into Vermont. Just east of them, a Danish force of 13 thousand has landed in Maine.
- Cadwal leads 1st army from the east as General Effros (a new find) leads 2nd from the south into Vermont, where the Danes and the Radekzians have combined. It is a victory for the Americans, but it does not feel like one. Thousand have died on both sides, and they each withdraw to get reinforcements.
- Then the two armies enter Radekzia. In October, Memphremagog is taken, and the new British colony of Maisouna is burned.
- On November 14th, 1757, the Founding Fathers meet once again, this time to sign the Declaration of Independence, a formal declaration that says the States of America, United under a common defense, are no longer British Colonies. A man named Idhrendur Osin writes it and he, with the 55 other delegates, sign the document.
- In response to the declaration, European nations took greater interest in the conflict. In fact, the Teutons send an ambassador to discuss diplomatic relations.
- The war continues in the north, and several more Loyalist and Danish armies are destroyed. Verigan Cadwal appears to be unbeatable, and his legendary acts are told all across the States.
- In 1759, 2nd army is sent south to deal with a string of rebellions in New Galicia.
- Cadwal's first defeat comes in November of 1759 against a British army of 50 thousand in Maine. Since 2nd army is currently putting down a rebellion in Florida, Cadwal was left with 20 thousand against the much larger foe.
- He withdraws to Massachusetts and requests reinforcements from Congress. Unfortunately, the young nation is running out of manpower.
- In Europe, the war is going fine. Brittany is completely taken by Picardy, and Denmark has lost all its German possessions. Unfortunately, Britain's vastly superior navy means the entire continent is under blockade, so no aid will arrive to America.
- In September of 1760, the 2nd army arrives back in Radekzia. They run accidentally into a small Radekzian force of 14 thousand men in Memphremagog and engage them. Just as victory seems imminent and General Effros begins celebrating, the 50 thousand man British army arrives.
- Effros sends word immediately to Cadwal, requesting assistance against overwhelming odds, over 50 thousand versus less than 20 thousand. When he gets the news, Cadwal heads for Memphremagog quickly. Humble as he is, he already thinks it is a lost cause. By the time he shows up to the battle, the Americans are down to 10 thousand and the Brits have sustained less than 5 thousand casualties. With his 27 thousand men (plus 2nd army) against the 50 thousand, Verigan Cadwal charges the enemy, riding along the front, leading his men.
- On the British side, General Andrew Hereberht had been expecting victory, even with the new American reinforcements. Yet, his men turn and flee. Despite the numbers, the largest battle of the war is an American victory.
- The entire British army is eventually captured in November. It is the largest American victory of the war. It seems the end may be near.
- Finally, as the Americans threaten to push up and occupy all of Radekzia, Britain agrees to come to the negotiating table. The small Iberian nation of Andalusia agrees to be moderator, as it is an unbiased middle ground, allied with no participants in the war.
- The congress sends delegates to help negotiate, and each of the nations involve do the same. The peace conference starts on the 20th of October, 1761, 5 years after the start of the war.
- It is now time for the Congress to decide on the peace terms.
- Vote (Please comment either A, B, or C):
- All delegates of the USA agree that, no matter what, two things must be in the terms: independence from British rule, and Florida. It would be dangerous to let their enemies control lands to the south and north. Other than that, these are the different terms presented to Congress.
- (A) Light
- All that will be asked is money to repair damages done during the war.
- (B) Moderate
- 4 Radekzian provinces will be annexed by the USA, putting the latter in a better position to defend or attack their northern neighbor in the future.
- (C) Harsh
- 11 Provinces will be taken from Radekzia, effectively crippling Radekzian naval power.
- This vote will end at 9:00 AM EST, July 5th.
