Hey later tonight, can I talk to you about some sort of a map making thing for after the tourney's over? I have something in mind that I was thinking of doing that I typed out while we had technical issues during one of my classes, and I want to see if it interferes with anything you guys have planned or if you have anything planned, or if it improves on anything have planned or anything

Is it a map making contest? My plan for this year was to have the top 6 maps be from the "map rating comittee" or whatever the fuck that was, and then have the final map be the winner of a map making contest. If you have plans in that regard we could just use the winner of your "map making thing"

Not quite. I was just going to have a tournament only featuring new maps. The post I typed up mentioned stuff like how the fourth dawn and gone camping have no tournament experience while sylvan cliffs and song of the south did, and how the latter two maps scored better than the former and stuff like that. It was going to be an attempt to solve the problem of no new maps and the lack of tournaments aside from the annual championship
Idk trying to explain it makes it sound a lot stupider than it seemed in my head
But I guess the tournament could still work, but instead of just asking for maps it could use the maps from the context

There are plentry of maps with little to no tournament play, you could do it before, after, or during the map making contest its not a huge deal.

Yeah but the main thing that I've heard Ben bitch about was that map makers have no incentive to make new maps because the format means that you're "only going to use the same 7 maps every year". So it's less about using maps with no tourney experience because a lot of the maps without it are just bad but that's a different story. But if you're doing a map making contest I could definitely just use the maps from that
Or maybe I just need to learn to accept that ben's a fucking dumbass and not take anything he fucking says to heart

Up to you, more tournaments isn't a bad thing.
I just don't feel like running more than one a year.
