- Get Persim Berry hidden in middle of rocks near Poke Centre
- Mt. Moon:
- Get Rare Candy on 1F at the south-east area of the map
- B1: If you didn't catch a Rattata, catch a Paras here. They are 100% Encounter on B1.
- Give the Persim Berry to Squirtle here if you have to catch a Paras
- Trainers: All Water Gun, with Bubble to finish them off. Watch out for the Rocket spinner.
- Swap Water Gun and Bubble during the Super Nerd fight
- Route 4:
- Teach Mega Kick over Withdrawl
- (The guy on the right gives Mega Kick)
- Cerulean City:
- Get the Rare Candy above the badge house
- (It is right below the 3rd flower)
- Give the Persim Berry to Squirtle if you haven't already
- Use regular Potions to heal to max HP before Misty
- Use both Rare Candies to get to Level 19
- Teach Bite over Bubble
- From this point on, it is usually good to finish off any Pokemon with Bite if they are at a low amount of HP
- Misty:
- Swap Bite and Tail Whip during Staryu
- Staryu: Mega Kick, Bite
