  1. ==WHAT IS HALO CUSTOM EDITION?==
  2. HCE (Not to be confused with the PC version of Combat evolved, which is typically called HPC) is a stand alone version of Halo PC that supports custom content. Released by Gearbox, HCE boasts not only custom multiplayer content but singleplayer.
  3.
  4. ==NOTICE==
  5. If you have issues with mega grab this tool. This also bypasses the need to install their shitty plugin.
  6. https://megatools.megous.com/
  7. >Download the desired build
  8. >Extract to it's own folder
  9. >Locate cmd.exe on your computer
  10. >Copy and paste it into the megatools folder
  11. >Run that cmd.exe
  12. >Type "megadl <link>"
  13. >To paste a link into cmd right click and hit paste, do not try Crtl+V it won't work.
  14.

  16. ==WHERE TO DOWNLOAD==
  17. '''Mega''' : https://mega.nz/#!8qJkjYAI!0buYiy2ty6aOITzrbeatMTIyWgEJnoXEsEJ5d2ejSAM
  18. The megalink is a repack of what I run on the server, it's larger than the torrent due to having all the maps you'll need for the gamenight hopefully which cuts down on time downloading to join
  19.
  20. '''Torrent''' :http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/10173195/Halo_CE_%5BCustom_Edition%5D_1.10_Patched
  21. Contains just HCE 1.10 and HAC2.
  22.
  23. ==DDL SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS==
  24. To reduce file size I compressed the maps folder before packaging everything in the easy to digest 5 gig download. Before running HCE make sure you extract the maps.7z folder. just right click the archive and hit "extract here" as it's already in a maps folder and running "extract to 'maps'" would create a maps within a maps folder and Halo will obviously fail to run.

  44. (Chimera is pre-packed in the ddl already, refer to this post for commands to throw into console)
  45.
  46. >Optic
  47. Optic is a addon for clients that allows you to use the announcer and medals from H3, Reach or H4 (but let's be honest H4 is shit). Optic itself is already part of HAC2. the medals must be installed.
  48.
  49. H3 Medals/Announcer: https://mega.nz/#!5rp0CRgb!UpA0tk29XfpnLi8liH5e2v5G4qcR0jfcTzvM4jEMroA

  51.
  52. '''installing optic packs'''
  53. >Download the pack of your choice
  54. ==DO NOT EXTRACT THE CONTENTS LEAVE IT IN IT'S ARCHIVED FILE==
  55. >Run HCE and then close it to create the folders
  56. >navigate to your documents folder
  57. >Go to My games>HaloCE>HAC
  58. >Create a folder named "pack"
  59. '''Final path should look like: My Documents>My Games>HaloCE>HAC>pack'''
  60. >Drop the archive into the pack folder
  61. >Start up HCE
  62. >Open console
  63. >Type "Optic" to view all loaded packs, this is to confirm you installed the pack(s) right
  64. >Type "Optic_load <filename>" with the filename being as it is on the archived file
  65. (Example: Optic_load Haloreach)
  66.
  67. '''SETTING FOV'''
  68. When in game hit F6 and adjust by moving your mouse. Hit F6 again to set it
  69. ==OR==
  70. Open console and type "fov #", with # being the desired FoV
  71.
  72. ==HELP THE CHAT KEEPS BLINKING IN AND OUT OF EXISTENCE!==
  73. HaloPC and Halo Custom Edition both have a rudimentary chat functionality stapled onto them. Fret not as there are two options here.
  74.
  75. '''1'''
  76. Download a chatbox mod, follow it's enclosed install instructions
  77. http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?search=chat+box&B1=Search
  78.
  79. '''2'''
  80. Open console and type "Custom_chat 1". This chat is styled after the text seen in Halo Reach and is a bit better. This option is also the best option if you don't want to download too much shit.
  81.
  82. ==HOW TO CONNECT==
  83. Go to multiplayer and join via direct connect.
  84.
  85. '''IP''' : <MISSING STRING HERE>
  86. '''PW''' : rage
  87.
  88. ==CAN THIS RUN ON LINUX?==
  89. Yes, but you either have to hunt down a wrapper or make one. Can't help you.
  90.
  91. ==HELP I AM ON WINDOWS 10==
  92. SoL
  93.
  94. ===GAME IS SHIT I CAN'T HIT PEOPLE===
  95. HPC and HCE through Microsoft mandate were made to be 56k dial-up modem friendly. To properly hit targets aim slightly AHEAD of where the player is going. (You may have to aim ahead where the reticule isn't red anymore)
  96.
  97. ===WHERE IS THE VOIP ROOM SINCE HCE NO SUPPORT VOICE CHAT?===
  98. There is none and I don't want to create one because it'll lead to circlejerking.
  99.
  100. ==I WANT TO HOST MY OWN SERVER==
  101. https://mega.nz/#!lT4nkLYK!FW8Xw259pnF0UuAFoLrnpcyWvhR8ZqY4r7YfHJOb-rM
  102. The above link is my SAPP configuration including a map vote list already built saving time.
  103. '''Instructions (Basing off windows install)'''
  104. >Go to my documents
  105. >Look for folder called "My games"
  106. >Open it
  107. >If you've run HaloCE before you'll see a folder for it
  108. >unzip the archive
  109. >You'll find two folders, both of these go in the HaloCE folder
  110. SAPP has not only my configs, but SAPP documentation in PDF format, Save games has all gametypes as well as a bunch of "blank slates"
  111.
  112. Inside you'll also find a program called "Flare" This allows for more customization of game modes than the in game options give you.
  113.
  114. ==FOR THOSE WANTING TO PLAY SPv3==
  115. '''NOTE YOU WILL NEED A "LEGIT" COPY OF HCE, DON'T WORRY I'VE GOT YOU COVERED'''
  116.
  117. >Download SPv3 here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/jy6nfbnrwnqhtb9/SPV3.1.0f.zip
  118. >Download HCE installer from halomaps
  119. >Run the HCE installer
  120. >Keep the default directory
  121. >Put in this CD key: MVY49-RXRJP-WJHK6-98CT9-HF6VY
  122. >Install, do not restart
  123. >Install the 1.10 update
  124. >Run the installer from the mediafire link above
  125.
  126. The CD key provided is a spare one I have. Since HAC2 and OS can't play nice together it's good to have a install of HCE for SPv3 while the HAC2 version is used for MP.
  127. Open Sauce (OS) is a 3rd party application that is meant to expand HaloCE's capabilities.
