  1. In the book the The Secrets of the Tsil Cafe food ultimately brought them the characters in the book together rather than apart. The book the Tsil Cafe is mainly about food and the characters usually have a culinary background or is involved in culinary one way or another. So in that sense The Secrets of the Tsil Cafe is definitely a book where food is the driving force when bringing characters together. Mostly in three scenes of the book. Where Wes takes his first girlfriend on a date to his fathers restaurant. The thanksgiving dinner that was held at Wes’s home and lastly the relationship between Wes and his grandfather because of food.First on pages 20-22 The Secrets of The Tsil Cafe depict the scene where Wes goes on his first date with his girlfriend named Marci. Even though she does not end up liking the majority of the food. This shows how they were brought together and established a relationship over food. Not only did it bring Wes and Marci together, but Wes’s father who was the chef and who was cooking for Wes and Marci.Second scene where I noticed that food ultimately brought people together was when Wes had thanksgiving with his family in the pages 39-46 where majority of his family from both his mothers and fathers had came also a couple of friends also attended. Thanksgiving is known for bringing families together and this is usually a staple in the holiday. But in the case of The Secrets of The Tsil Cafe the food that is being served is also Old World and New World. But this does cause some conflict as well with Robert Hingler and his father; But ultimately the food had brought them together. Lastly the relationship with Wes and his grandfather. This scene in The Secrets of the Tsil Cafe is one of my favorites since you had rarely seen Wes with direct contact with his grandfather and in pages 271-275. When Wes is in charge of preparing a meal it brings his dad and grandfather all in the same scene contributing to cooking a meal with Wes. Usually Robert and his father could never get along but in the case of Wes’s behalf they had always found common ground and I food does the same thing to people. Finds common ground even with people of various backgrounds. The Secrets of the Tsil Cafe is a fascinating book with twists, turns and various recipe’s. But if there is one thing I could say that I pulled out of this book is that food ultimately brings people together.
