  12. Organizations Gather to Protest Global Conference of Law Enforcement Chiefs

CHICAGO- On Thursday, October 22nd, The Black Youth Project 100 (BYP100) Chicago Chapter will lead a press conference to announce demands to the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). In coordination with the Workers Center for Racial Justice and The Advancement Project, The press conference will feature Chicago community members sharing personal accounts of police violence, and stating specific demands to the IACP urging law enforcement officers to end mass incarceration and police violence against Black people.

  16. The press conference is a kickoff to the I Shocked the Sheriff Counter-Conference that will take place from October 22nd -24th; during the IACP Conference in Chicago. The I Shocked the Sheriff Counter-Conference will focus on justice reinvestment, community control of the police, and increasing police accountability and transparency. Young people from all across the U.S. will convene in Chicago at the I Shocked the Sheriff Counter-Conference to demand an end to police violence and mass criminalization of Black people from one of the most powerful organizations of police leadership in the world.

We do this through building a network focused on transformative leadership development, direct action organizing, advocacy and education using a Black queer feminist lens. We are an organization affiliated with the Black Youth Project.
