  1. APB Tesla Claw route:
  2.
  3. So it turns out that using using the tesla claw against the final protopet is way faster than using the lancer/sheepinator saving over 80 seconds compared to using the old weapons and getting a perfect fight (combined with the shield in both cases). Here's a video showing the fight with the tesla claw https://youtu.be/N6pz0omg-n0
  4. The main thing is that we don't usually have the tesla claw in APB and we have to get it in Barlow costing us 8000 bolts. We can't buy it when we first visit barlow as we have nowehere near enough bolts to buy the tesla claw, decoy glove and the Siberius co-ordinates so we have to revisit barlow. Using a RAC 1 save to buy it for free is banned from the run so we have to pay the price.
  5.
  6. Here's what we'd do differently to get the tesla claw:
  7. We skip the detour to get the first plat bolt in Barlow and we save that for Barlow 2 cutting off over a minute in barlow 1
  8. We do Gorn mission 2 twice to get the extra bolts that we need taking an extra 5-6 seconds
  9. We go back to Barlow after Gorn using the chargeboots to our advantage to get the plat bolt
  10. We buy the tesla claw
  11. We go back to Snivelak completing it normally
  12. At some point in Smolg or anywhere before the protopet (preferably when we have to switch packs), we'll have to put the tesla claw in our quick select replacing the sheepinator which only takes maybe 2-3 seconds if done fast.
  13. We beat the protopet with the tesla claw
  14. Run done.
  15.
  16. The whole of Barlow 2 + loads and menus combined with getting the extra bolts and swapping the quick select menu would take around 1:35-1:40 losing maybe 30 seconds compared to the current route but since Protopet is fast, we'll be saving around 50 seconds in total.
  17.
  18. One of the problems with this route is that getting the bolt in Barlow 2 is pretty tough to do optimally and without messing up and it saves roughly 25 seconds if done fast. (Could possibly be faster for the normal route but not by much considering extra loads and due to it's diffiuclty especially to do fast, it probably wouldn't be worth it. It's fine with this route however, just hard.
  19.
  20. The main problem however is the protopet itself. You are constantly at the risk of dying as you can easily be killed in one or two hits but the main problem is 3 letters: RNG.
  21.
  22. In the second and third phases, either a bomb or an ammo create can spawn at random and if a bomb spawns, there's nothing you can do. The protopet will eat it and you can't really hurt it. Your shield will probably break and you will die. It's also completely random when one of those two things will spawn so that can be super irritating and difficult, not to mention that there are a bunch of enemies who will be shooting you. You can manipulate where things will spawn depending on where you are facing but that can only do so much when the things spawn at random.
  23. Getting perfect RNG is gonna be pretty rare especially since I've heard the chances of a bomb spawning are higher than an ammo crate spawning.
  24.
  25. Overall, while this is definitely faster, I'm willing to say that it's not RTA viable or at least nobody should go for it until we get an insane WR with the normal route as it is far too risky.
  26. The run will come down to RNG at the last boss and we will constantly be yelling MrSpeedrun's famous quote "I LOST THE RUN TO RNG DUDE" and that's no fun. We can die maybe once in Protopet and still save time compared to the old route depending on when we die.
  27.
  28. This can be easily implemented into a TAS however and would be awesome to see. :)
  29.
  30. I'm not as sure about the tesla claw for any% although I know that the fight will be even more difficult as a one hit death is guaranteed and you have no shield to protect you or to kill the protopet faster.
