Starting with the caring "Man In The Mirror" and ending with the hymnal "The Moon Is Walking", Moonwalker is a informative anthological film, featuring music videos based off of "Bad", all ending with the ebony tale of a drug dealer whose goal is to get kids hooked.
A movie that starts out with the "Man in the Mirror" music video, it then changes to a montage of video clips of Michael's career. Next comes a parody of his Bad video by children, and then Michael is chased by fans in a fantasy sequence. 2 more videos are shown, and then a movie in which Michael plays a hero with magical powers. In it he is chased by drug dealer Mr. Big and saves three children. Videos included in the movie are "Smooth Criminal" and "Come Together".
I first saw this when they showed this around easter time 1993/4 and didn't think much of it then, I bought this on DVD last summer when I started getting into Michael Jackson (I liked his music before) and enjoyed it more now I am older. It is a good film but it won't be this classic film like The Sound Of Music, West Side Story, The Wizard Of Oz etc. Michael Jackson as an actor was good and so were the other cast members. There were a disturbing scenes like the little girl Katie getting slapped by the gangster Frankie Lideo who was played by Joe Pesci. The scene that frightened me when I was younger was when Michael turns into a robot. My favourite song on the film was Smooth Criminal I think it was better than Thriller in my opinion.
Almost 20 years after it&#39;s release I decided to see just how bad this film really was. Needless to say my expectations zero...<br/><br/>It is surely one of the worst pieces of cinema I have ever seen.<br/><br/>This film can only have value to mental health patients or researchers wishing to better understand the strange creature known as Michael Jackson.<br/><br/>Weird, silly, pretentious pap. But then what would could you expect when the plasticene mans&#39; vision is brought to fruition...<br/><br/>I can imagine that Joe Pesci to this day wakes up from nightmares resulting from his involvement in this horrible, horrible film.<br/><br/>Smooth criminal? The *real* crime was not burning M.J&#39;s script prior to production or recasting MC.Hammer to play the lead role. Or Bobby Brown. Or Milli Vanilli. Or my dog Vino...

Quite astonishingly the newly released European Blu-ray versions - at least the German and British ones - are censored. Two scenes involving Mr. Big and Katie got trimmed. In the first one Mr. Big hits her and in the second one the heroin injection is missing as well. It is unknown whether all Warner Blu-rays feature this cuts.<br/><br/>However, the 1990 Guild Home Video VHS version (UK rated PG) may have these edits included in an earlier edit.
