  1. ## Takanobu Nobuchika C
  2. \f[2|Takanobu]
  3. \s[2]\e[2|1]
  4. Ah ha! Nobuchika-san, brother of\n
  5. Motochika-sama. Good to finally meet.|
  6. \s[-2]
  7.
  8. \f[5|Nobuchika]
  9. \s[5]
  10. Hmm? Ah! Yes, yes, your name\n
  11. escapes me at the moment...\n
  12. Takanobu-san! That was it.|
  13.
  14. \s[2]
  15. Indeed. Glad to know one of your\n
  16. stature is aware of my lowliness.|
  17.
  18. \s[5]
  19. Lowly? Were you not one of the most\n
  20. respected scholars in all of Ryu?\n
  21. I would hardly call that low.|
  22.
  23. \s[2]\e[2|0]
  24. Key word being 'was', my good man.\n
  25. Without a clan and without a home, I\n
  26. am nothing but a wandering philosopher.|
  27.
  28. \s[5]
  29. Nonsense! In fact, this is a rare\n
  30. opportunity for me to converse with\n
  31. one as intelligent as you.|\e[5|1]\n
  32. Why, I feel giddy just thinking of the\n
  33. various topics in which we could discuss.|
  34.
  35. \s[2]\e[2|1]
  36. You seem far more excited about this\n
  37. that I thought possible. Very well,\n
  38. let us decide on a time for this event.|
  39.
  40. \s[5]
  41. Incredible! I will write down my schedule\n
  42. and give it to you; whatever time best\n
  43. suites you will work perfectly fine with me.|
  44. \s[-2]
  45.
  46. \m[5|5]
  47. \w[8]
  48.
  49. \m[5|5]\s[5]
  50. Here you are! Until next time, Takanobu-sensei!|
  51. \s[-2]
  52.
  53. \s[2]
  54. Of course, Nobuchika-sensei.|
  55. \s[-2]
  56.
  57. \f[5|nil]
  58.
  59. \w[18]
  60.
  61. \e[2|0]
  62. \s[2]
  63. What the bloody hell is this?\n
  64. Old Arnetian? How obnoxious.\n
  65. I had heard he was a bit of a\n
  66. show off, but this is absurd! Who\n
  67. writes in such an archaic language?|\e[2|1]\n
  68. Very well then, 'Nobuchika-sensei',\n
  69. if this is the game you wish to\n
  70. play, then consider me on board.|
  71. \s[-2]
  72.
  73. \f[2|nil]
  74. \w[16]
  75.
  76. \f[5|Nobuchika]
  77. \s[5]
  78. That Takanobu... Not nearly as smart\n
  79. as he thinks he is. And hear I thought\n
  80. I finally met my match...|\n
  81. The humble act was irritating at\n
  82. best, so on our next meeting I will\n
  83. really show off what I can do.|
  84. \s[-2]
  85.
  86. ## Takanobu Nobuchika B
  87. \f[2|Takanobu]\w[8]
  88. \f[5|Nobuchika]
  89. \s[2]\e[2|1]
  90. Ah! There he is, the man of the hour.\n
  91. Good to see you, Nobuchika-sensei.|
  92.
  93. \s[5]\e[5|1]
  94. Likewise, Takanobu-sensei.\n
  95. Now, let us being our discussion.|
  96. \s[-2]
  97.
  98. \e[5|0]
  99. \s[5]
  100. Now, I wished to speak to you on the topic\n
  101. of magic, specifically the natural magics.|
  102.
  103. \s[2]
  104. You refer to Wind, Thunder, and Fire.\n
  105. I am well versed in each of them.|
  106.
  107. \s[5]\e[5|1]
  108. Actually, I am referring to all of them.\n
  109. Surely you are aware of the lost natural\n
  110. magics Water, Earth, Prism, and Blood?|
  111.
  112. \m[2|2]\e[2|0]
  113. \s[2]
  114. E-er, of course! Only a fool not worth\n
  115. their salt would be caught unaware.|
  116. \s[-2]
  117.
  118. \r[2]
  119. \s[2]
  120. (What the bloody hell is Prism magic?!)\n
  121. Some kind of light-based magic? Must be.)\n
  122. (Another name for Soul magic?)|
  123. \s[-2]
  124.
  125. \w[16]
  126. \r[2]\e[2|1]
  127. \s[2]
  128. Ahem. What is it you wanted to say?|
  129.
  130. \s[5]
  131. Well, during my youth I have always wondered both\n
  132. why those magics have fallen out of favor what\n
  133. kind of connection they have with Light and Dark.|
  134.
  135. \s[2]
  136. Ah! You mean to ask why Light and Dark mages\n
  137. need to resort to tomes while user of the\n
  138. natural magics merely need a channeling totem?|\n
  139. It's rather simple, really; Light and Dark\n
  140. magic are not "true" magics, but merely an\n
  141. adaption of our lost magic types.|\n
  142. For example, Blood magic became Dark magic\n
  143. over time, and lost much of its strength\n
  144. in the process, forcing a need for tomes.|
  145.
  146. \s[5]\e[5|0]\m[5|5]
  147. Ah... Right, how could I have forgotten...|
  148. \s[-2]
  149.
  150. \r[5]
  151. \s[5]
  152. (Blood magic is raw Dark magic?) (How is\n
  153. that... Would that mean Prismatic magic is\n
  154. Light magic at it's most volatile state?)|
  155. \s[-2]
  156.
  157. \r[5]
  158. \s[5]
  159. Ahem! W-well, are you aware of why these\n
  160. magics became lost in the first place?|
  161.
  162. \s[2]
  163. Blood magic is far too powerful in its\n
  164. natural state, leading the practice of\n
  165. it to be widely banned in many countries.|\n
  166. By Prismatic, I assume you mean Soul\n
  167. magic? Prismatic is a more modern term.|
  168.
  169. \s[5]
  170. Soul...? Er, yes, I believe those are the same.|
  171.
  172. \s[2]
  173. Then the reasonings are similar. With the\n
  174. other 5 magics, the sacrifice needed was much\n
  175. smaller, just a bit of energy and the totem.|\n
  176. However, Blood and Soul... required the user's\n
  177. actual life essences or procuring it from\n
  178. another higher being.|
  179.
  180. \s[5]
  181. Fascinating...|
  182.
  183. \s[2]
  184. Don't you mean "Of course, I knew that"?|
  185.
  186. \s[5]
  187. You saw through my facade... I admit it,\n
  188. you have bested me, Takanobu-sensei.|
  189.
  190. \s[2]\e[2|0]
  191. I was acting a bit childish myself. When\n
  192. you said Prism magic, I had no idea what\n
  193. in the world you were referring to!|\n
  194. And honestly... I barely know anything\n
  195. about Earth and Water magic as well.|
  196.
  197. \s[5]
  198. Truly?|
  199.
  200. \s[2]
  201. I never had a need to look into these\n
  202. sorts of magic before, they have been\n
  203. lost to time. I'm a Dark Mage after all.|\n
  204. Whatever pertains to what I specialize\n
  205. in will be what's most important to me.|
  206.
  207. \s[5]
  208. That makes sense, I understand you.|\n
  209. However, I have a proposition: Instead\n
  210. of the two of us trying to impress the\n
  211. other, why not put our brains together?|
  212.
  213. \s[2]\e[2|1]
  214. Are you certain you can keep up with me?|
  215.
  216. \s[5]\e[5|1]
  217. I should hope so! I have read the\n
  218. books you published after all, and\n
  219. I have not become a blubbering mess.|
  220.
  221. \s[2]
  222. Heh, some of them are difficult to\n
  223. grasp, I suppose. Something I should\n
  224. have probably taken into consideration.|\n
  225. But yes, working together sounds lovely.|
  226.
  227. \s[5]
  228. Fantastic! I shall meet you in the study?|
  229.
  230. \s[2]
  231. I will be there.|
  232. \s[-2]
  233.
  234. ## Takanobu Nobuchika A
  235. \f[6|Nobuchika]\m[6|5]
  236. \w[8]
  237. \s[5]
  238. Takanobu-sensei, look what I\n
  239. have stumbled upon!|
  240. \s[-2]
  241.
  242. \f[2|Takanobu]
  243. \s[2]
  244. Hmm? What have you found out?|
  245.
  246. \s[5]
  247. Well, you know how each of the natural\n
  248. magics have a direct race tied to them?|
  249.
  250. \s[2]
  251. Right... Aracana are Thunder, Lycan\n
  252. are Fire, and Kites are Wind.|
  253.
  254. \s[5]
  255. Well it turns out Earth and Water were\n
  256. tied to a race as well. Earth being\n
  257. Saytrs, and Water being the Undine.|
  258.
  259. \s[2]
  260. Hmm... I feel as if I should have\n
  261. known about the Undine connection...|\n
  262. However, the Aracanae are still the\n
  263. odd ones out. They do not have any\n
  264. elemental affinity tied to them.|
  265.
  266. \s[5]
  267. Right, they are classified in\n
  268. the old chronicles as monsters,\n
  269. devoid of elemental affinity.|\n
  270. Which we now know to be demonstrably false.|
  271.
  272. \s[2]
  273. The connection with magic makes me question\n
  274. if our elemental affinity chart is also wrong.\n
  275. Elves are not actually tied to Thunder...|
  276.
  277. \s[5]
  278. You think the two are closely connected?|
  279.
  280. \s[2]
  281. Given how every other magic type lines up\n
  282. with a race that is tied to the same\n
  283. elemental affinity, it seems logical.|\n
  284. Perhaps elves and humans have a common ancestor.|
  285.
  286. \s[5]
  287. Ah, meaning they have no specific affinity\n
  288. that they are drawn to... an interesting theory.|\n
  289. However, if we are stating that all elemental\n
  290. affinities are tied directly to a magic type,\n
  291. that leaves out one rather glaring problem: metal.|
  292.
  293. \s[2]
  294. Metal magic does not exist, right... Perhaps\n
  295. it refers to physical weapons? Most are made\n
  296. out of a hard metallic material.|
  297.
  298. \s[5]
  299. Hmm... And it was said that Orcs were the\n
  300. race to really jettison the entire weapon\n
  301. making practice... This seems quite plausible.|\n
  302. I have a question, though.|
  303.
  304. \s[2]\e[2|1]
  305. Hopefully I have an answer.|
  306.
  307. \s[5]
  308. Earlier you stated that Blood magic is the\n
  309. more raw version of Dark magic. This would\n
  310. mean the same applies to Prismatic and Light.|
  311.
  312. \s[2]\e[2|0]
  313. That was my conclusion as well, yes.|
  314.
  315. \s[5]
  316. This would mean that the... Er... Demon tribe\n
  317. were practitioners of Blood magic then?|
  318.
  319. \s[2]
  320. Indeed. And the Celestials were users of\n
  321. Soul - er, Prismatic magic to combat them.|
  322.
  323. \s[5]
  324. So much information to wrap my head around...\n
  325. We should document as much of this as we can\n
  326. for the future generations, Takanobu-sensei.|
  327.
  328. \s[2]\e[2|1]
  329. A sound idea, Nobuchika-sensei. There is no\n
  330. use in having information and not sharing it.|
  331.
  332. \s[5]
  333. Hmm... You have written books and scholarly\n
  334. essays, would you be able to help me as well?|
  335.
  336. \s[2]
  337. Only if you agree to be my co-author.|
  338.
  339. \s[5]\e[5|1]
  340. Nothing would make me happier!|
  341. \s[-2]
  342.
  343. ## fuckin nerds
