So. Trump has won. To those of you who voted for him- I hope you are ready to stand by everything he stands by. I hope you know how to explain to your kids why a man who says he can "Grab them by the pussy" is president. And how when he says that he is referring to women he can touch without their consent and said he could do it all because he is famous.

How it's apparently ok to demean women, minority races, promote violence, threaten others, make fun of those with disabilities, and resort to bullying tactics to get your way - or at least according to President-Elect Trump. How lying is ok, as long as people believe you. How it's ok to not ask God for forgiveness but claim to be a Christian.

I hope you are ready to explain to the rest of the world- why we a country that used to pride itself on strides forward has fallen back. How we have elected a man who has used racial tensions to divide us. To use religion against those who do not believe the same as some.

Because I'll tell you what- I was staring at classes of Japanese JHS students who were wondering why we elected Trump. And a staff room of teachers anxiously watching the election wondering what was happening as we saw markets drop. As the US markets hit their down limits.

None of us knows what this means for the future other than that perhaps it doesn't look very bright.

I have many minority friends, friends with disabilities, and many friends in the LGBT community. And I want you to know that even though I may not be on American soil- I am an American Citizen. I voted. And I will do whatever I can to help support you during this time. I love you. You are valued. You are loved.

It may not seem this way- but don't let the loud voices of hate extinguish the light you bring to this world. We have made it through many horrible things... we can make it through this.
