The LEGO Movie is a 3D animated film which follows lead character, Emmet a completely ordinary LEGO mini-figure who is identified as the most "extraordinary person" and the key to saving the Lego universe. Emmet and his friends go on an epic journey to stop the evil tyrant, Lord Business.
An ordinary LEGO construction worker, thought to be the prophesied as "special", is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the LEGO universe into eternal stasis.
The symbolism in this movie is outstanding. This is a very big movie on so many levels that most audiences won't understand (except on a subconscious level perhaps). Oh, and it's funny and keeps kids entertained too! My kids were laughing throughout the movie, and although they didn't understand the underlying symbolism or any of the "adult" oriented jokes, it was entertaining enough to keep kids, adults, and even elderly in the audience entertained at a purely superficial level. At a deeper level, there's plenty of brilliant use of words, symbols, names, and a very deep story of creation, cosmic laws and free-thinking that will leave you pondering this movie for weeks to come. A must-see for all, and I would recommend NOT waiting for this to come out on DVD as the 3-D effects and animation are incredible!
When I first thought to take my kids to see this movie, I wondered how they would take a well-known toy and turn it into a movie. Well it was done and with great success. It is highly entertaining at a child's level, and has a storyline that adults can equally be entertained with and appreciate. The storyline has a great message to all age groups. The visual aspects were also nothing short of spectacular. My kids laughed the entire time and my attention was never lost during the movie. The theme song is catchy and will stick with you for many months to come. This is definitely a movie to add to the collection. And yes, EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!
Ridiculously funny and meticulously detailed, The LEGO Movie is far better than a toy tie-in movie has any right to be. Despite a couple of dips, you’ll be grinning throughout.
