  1. -3rd of Autumn's Third-
  2. Following the brief encounter with the mercenaries, the party see what they can do in the aftermath, currently returning to the wagon with the one surviving mercenary, still unconscious.
  3. Adrian: "Valaire. What happened?"
  4. Arkune: "How many more do you think there are?"
  5. Mikolotov: "Mercenary squads like this? Probably a couple around, somewhere."
  6. Adrian: "Enough that we'd best keep up a watch while we're here."
  7. Valaire: "Ah, you saw it yourself, my Lord. The mongrel's magic blinded me, and at one point I just... wanted to leave him alone."
  8. Adrian: "Yes... so I see. I don't have any solution to this..." [Sense Motive: 25]
  9. Night Eyes: "Solution?"
  10. Adrian: "He hit her with an enchantment. One that will last a while, apparently."
  11. Mikolotov: "That doesn't sound great..."
  12. Night Eyes: "Ah, I see. Perhaps we just find a workaround? Do we know the terms of it?"
  13. Adrian: "She said it herself, I think. She suddenly wanted to leave him alone. I imagine that's the extent of it. So, nothing too harmful, at least."
  14. Mikolotov: "Thank goodness."
  15. Night Eyes: "Indeed. We should be able to press on without difficulty."
  16. Valaire: "Being blinded, however... that is a nuisance. I must admit not having expected that as a possible outcome."
  17. Night Eyes: "In many ways, magic is more frightening than any blade."
  18. Valaire: "(It's certainly not like I hadn't planned much worse things...)"
  19. Mikolotov: "What are we going to do with this mercenary, Milord?"
  20. Valaire: "Oh, how sweet. You remembered I was left out and brought me someone to take revenge on."
  21. Adrian: "No, Valaire, I'm afraid you'll have to wait for another chance."
  22. Mikolotov: "...is that why we- oh, right."
  23. Adrian: "Set him down over there. He can deliver a report for me."
  24. Mikolotov sets the man down, unconscious but in a seated position next to the wheel of the wagon.
  25. Valaire clicks her tongue, grumbling something about Eribians.
  26. Adrian: "I suspect we'll find a few more of these mercenaries. I've half a mind to hand one or two over to Ashdale authorities, as a sign of our efforts on their behalf."
  27. "Dhaltra, may I borrow that rod for a few moments?"
  28. Valaire idly manifests a small ball of flame and holds it in her hand, using her other hand's claws to slowly sculpt it into a vaguely humanoid shape.
  29. Night Eyes: "Ah? Yes, lord Adrian."
  30. Night Eyes pulls out the rod, passing it over to Adrian.
  31. Night Eyes turns back to watching Valaire's magic.
  32. Night Eyes: "It is frustrating that we keep encountering them like this..."
  33. Arkune: "What kind of magic is that? Summoning... a puppet?"
  34. Valaire: "I suppose the more accurate term would be an effigy."
  35. Valaire finishes her sculpting, making a man of fire with wolf-like features, and, when she appears satisfied with it, crushing it in her clawed fist.
  36. Arkune: "He seemed... different than the others."
  37. Night Eyes: "He told me he was the only Eriban."
  38. "At least among that group."
  39. Arkune: "Well, I mean aside from that. More skilled than the others."
  40. Valaire: "Clearly a leader of some sort. Not that it matters."
  41. Adrian places one hand on the man's forehead, concentrating and imbuing him with psychic energy. [Unwitting Messenger]
  42. Adrian: "You are to repeat the following to the first lawful authority of Zeltria you meet, myself excluded. 'Lord Kelton sends me to confess that I have acted against the interests of the kingdom and against the orders of the crown.'"
  43. Arkune: "Have... you always been able to do that, Adrian?"
  44. Night Eyes: "It may matter. It seemed he was trying to escape the regime there. What a way to do so, though..."
  45. Adrian: "For a while now. Why?"
  46. Arkune: "It's just... a-ah. Nothing."
  47. Arkune seems slightly nervous.
  48. Valaire: "But he is dead now, no? If he lived, you certainly would have brought him back with you."
  49. Arkune: "You've not used it on any of us... right?"
  50. Valaire: "Used what, darling mouse?"
  51. Arkune: "The magic he used on that mercenary."
  52. Adrian: "No, I have not, and I would not do so."
  53. Night Eyes: "Seems like the kind of magic any noble should have."
  54. Valaire: "Whatever my Lord is doing seems his own business."
  55. "I would prefer simply to occupy my thoughts with visions of delightful fiery revenge until such time that my services are of value to my lord."
  56. Adrian holds the rod, continuing to focus on the man. [Extended Suggestion, DC 17]
  57. Adrian: "You are, furthermore, to return to Zeltria and seek out the nearest guardhouse or other authority. I suspect you will receive more mercy from them than you would from me."
  58. Adrian: "Mikolotov, Arkune, one of you please revive him now."
  59. Arkune: "Will do."
  60. Arkune lays her runed hand upon the man, letting a pulse of its energy heal his wounds. [Cure Light Wounds: 9]
  61. The man wakes from his slumber, looking at the party in horror, before quickly running back in the direction of Zeltria.
  62. Mikolotov: "Well, now that he's gone..."
  63. Adrian: "Thank you. With that taken care of... anything more to do before we continue on?"
  64. Arkune: "What drives people to commit treason as those mercenaries did? To just accept coin regardless of the morality of their job?"
  65. Night Eyes: "They probably have hatred to this land, also."
  66. "To get paid to join others and do something you're too scared to do yourself..."
  67. Arkune: "Hate and greed... it's horrible that they're so widespread."
  68. Night Eyes: "And yet they are the same instincts that keep us alive at the worst of times. Isn't it funny?"
  69. Valaire: "They are potent emotions, and certainly not undesirable if used in the right manner."
  70. Night Eyes: "Still, you are right. The effects, on such a scale. are truly terrible."
  71. Valaire: "For those who have theirs less under control, it becomes a tool you can use to manipulate them."
  72. "For those with the powerful weapon of leadership, it becomes almost effortless to manipulate people motivated by hate or greed to do whatever it is you wish~"
  73. Adrian: "Whether harmful or helpful, there's no use trying to change all of mankind. It is what it is."
  74. Arkune: "Perhaps we can at least reduce it between these nations..."
  75. Night Eyes: "Agreed."
  76. Arkune: "Before people like those mercenaries drive it higher."
  77. Valaire: "You certainly cannot abolish the emotions themselves. Even all of us have them."
  78. Night Eyes: "We may not be able to stop the root, but we can treat the symptoms."
  79. Arkune: "(Or would it be fruit?)"
  80.
  81. -6th of Autumn's Third-
  82. The party continue onwards, managing to rest at inns when they are able to, and after three days, they stumble across a town, between hills, covered in a thick fog.
  83. The city seems to be deserted as you pass through, the only activity seeming to come from the inn.
  84. Valaire: "Well, that is a disappointing welcome for my lord, Adrian."
  85. Night Eyes: "Do you think it is the border skirmishes?"
  86. Arkune: "Why this far in, though?"
  87. Adrian: "I hope that's all it is, but it doesn't sound likely."
  88. Arkune: "Fog... more dragons like back with the Mountain King?"
  89. Valaire: "Associating fog with dragons seems a bizarre connection to make, little mouse."
  90. Arkune: "These ones could summon it!~"
  91. Valaire: "Fog is fog. There is no reason to assume it is any more supernatural than rain or snow."
  92. Night Eyes: "We found a wyvern causing it in the mountains. However, the question is whether or not wyverns live in this region."
  93. Adrian: "Fog is more common than wyverns, in my experience. Is it rare on Lunar Isle?"
  94. Valaire: "Just to humor you, of course..."
  95. Valaire sighs, snapping her fingers and muttering something as her eyes take on a shimmering glow. [Detect Magic]
  96. Arkune: "Not that rare... I guess I've just read too many stories."
  97. "Like, in books, fog is always so ominous..."
  98. Valaire: "You read far too many fanciful tales and not enough reality, mouse. This fog is absolutely ordinary."
  99. Adrian: "This town is not."
  100. A woman pokes her head out of the inn, looking at the group in mild shock.
  101. Valaire: "That, alone, is a concern."
  102. Adrian: "Greetings. Might I ask a moment of your time?"
  103. Village Woman: "S-sure, but you'd better come inside quick, the mist monster could eat you!"
  104. Arkune waves politely
  105. Arkune: "Mist monster?... See! I WAS righ-"
  106. Adrian: "...Very well."
  107. Night Eyes: "Oh. Maybe Arkune was right."
  108. Arkune: "Wait, carp..."
  109. Night Eyes: "Shall we?"
  110. Arkune: "Best find out what is wrong..."
  111. Valaire: "(I hate superstitious idiots...)"
  112. Arkune: "And... um... avoid being eaten."
  113. Adrian steps inside, gesturing for the others to follow.
  114. Arkune follows as well, taking a glance at the village again before entering.
  115. Night Eyes follows Adrian indoors.
  116. Valaire: "You aren't going to be eaten by fog, little mouse, but we might as well follow Lord Adrian."
  117. Arkune: "But what if there really is something?"
  118. Valaire: "Then we kill it, same as we did with that mole thing."
  119. Village Woman: "Quickly, quickly... er... you'd best leave the horses in the shelter round the back."
  120. Adrian: "Ah, thank you."
  121. "(If there really is something, staying out of its way for a few moments won't do any harm. Either it will still be there afterward, or it will leave.)"
  122. The group leave their horses in a small stable around the back of the inn, heading inside, to a room with only around ten or so people, few looking particularly happy.
  123. Arkune bows to the crowd.
  124. Arkune: "(Small town?)"
  125. Adrian: "I'd like to know more about this 'mist monster', if possible. Such as how long has this fog lasted." [Diplomacy: 18]
  126. Village Woman: "A-ah, right, well..."
  127. Arkune: "Is this all of the village? Or are there others out there?"
  128. "Like, is there just the inn, or has everyone been staying inside?"
  129. Village Woman sits down at one of the tables.
  130. Village Woman: "Well, uh, sir... a couple of weeks ago, this mist suddenly starting coming in, time to time..."
  131. "Most people who went out were attacked... killed, by a monster."
  132. "We can't see that well in the fog, but it was... a huge... winged thingie."
  133. "Sometimes there's two of them, sometimes not even hiding inside is enough..."
  134. "They ate my ma and pa and destroyed our house..."
  135. The young girl starts panicking, hyperventilating a little.
  136. Night Eyes: "...maybe Arkune really was correct."
  137. Valaire: "Hm... Lord Adrian, a thought occurs, if you would hear."
  138. Adrian: "At the very least, this is more than an empty rumor. Yes, Valaire?"
  139. Valaire: "Perhaps dealing with this little problem of theirs would endear you to the people and aid the cause of peace we are seeking."
  140. Arkune: "Slaying monsters is always a heroic deed!"
  141. Adrian: "I agree. Have there been prior attempts to fend off this creature?"
  142. Village Woman: "Y-you're gonna try to slay it? That's sounds impossible..."
  143. "Yeah, but, the guards..."
  144. Village Woman looks down, shivering.
  145. Arkune: "We've slain fiercer beasts before!"
  146. Adrian: "I assume you have not found any weaknesses of its. But any particular strengths would be helpful to know."
  147. Arkune: "They did mention wings, so it can fly, presumably."
  148. "Have you noticed anything like fire, frost, or lightning?"
  149. Valaire: "Look at it this way, girl. If we fail, you haven't lost anything, because we're people you barely even know. But if we succeed, what does that mean for your village?"
  150. "There is nothing to lose and everything to gain."
  151. Village Woman: "Okay... I will pray for your success."
  152. Village Woman turns to the rest of the tavern.
  153. Village Woman: "Hey, um... These people are gon' try to slay the mist monster!"
  154. Night Eyes: "You don't serve Slayer's Respite out here, do you?"
  155. Faces in the tavern look on the party, with a mixutre of confusion, hope, and concern.
  156. Village Woman: "I think we have some... this was my ma and pa's bar, I can go check the cellar?"
  157. Valaire: "(Well, even if we fail, at least they'll think you're a hero for doing it, my lord.)"
  158. Adrian: "(I suppose.)"
  159. Valaire: "(But it's certainly not like we'll fail in any event, is it?)"
  160. Arkune: "You can have it ready for when we return victorious!~" boasts Arkune to try to cheer up the crowd.
  161. Night Eyes: "Please do. Might help us navigate the fog."
  162. Village Woman: "Right, it could!"
  163. Adrian: "(Indeed. I don't intend to die in some nameless Ashdale backwater.)"
  164. Valaire: "Ah! A thought actually does occur, I might actually have a nice little trick for this handy."
  165. Night Eyes: "This is a drink you have before the hunt, Arkune."
  166. Arkune: "Ah?"
  167. Adrian: "What do you have in mind, Valaire?"
  168. Valaire reaches her hand up her other sleeve, beginning to search for something.
  169. Village Woman heads down to the cellar, and in a couple of minutes, returns, hefting a large barrel and setting it up behind the counter.
  170. Valaire: "It never hurts to come prepared, my lord."
  171. Arkune: "I suppose then they can have another round of drinks ready for us to return to then~"
  172. Valaire draws a scroll case from her sleeve, smiling. [Faerie Fire]
  173. Valaire: "If our little thing likes hiding in fog, a little trick to keep it from hiding should do just the thing."
  174. Adrian: "Good thinking."
  175. Village Woman returns to the table, having five glasses of red coloured wine.
  176. Village Woman: "There you go, on the house."
  177. Valaire offers the scroll to Adrian, smiling.
  178. Night Eyes raises the glass.
  179. Night Eyes: "May it bring success. Thank you."
  180. Valaire: "It's a little too... abstract for my own talent, but perhaps you will have better luck persuading it to work for you."
  181. Adrian takes the scroll, examining it. [Spellcraft: 12]
  182. Arkune: "Interesting flavour, never had somethin' this fancy before."
  183. Valaire: "You should have been with us when we were sharing some Dragon Bitter the other day."
  184. The group head outside, to the misty town, the fog somewhat cleared, but a harrowing roar being heard to the north.
  185. Arkune: "Well, I presume that's our prey."
  186.
  187. [Arkune : Initiative: 20.02
  188. Mistlord Wyvern : Initiative: 16.03
  189. Night Eyes : Initiative: 14.03
  190. Adrian : Initiative: 14.01
  191. Mikolotov : Initiative: 11.01
  192. Valaire : Initiative: 8.03
  193. Mist Wyvern : Initiative: 5.02]
  194. [Arkune : Perception: 12
  195. Night Eyes : Perception: 29
  196. Adrian : Perception: 9]
  197.
  198. Arkune: "Where is that bugger..."
  199. Night Eyes: "On our left."
  200. Arkune: "Thanks!"
  201. Arkune draws her mace and approaches.
  202. Night Eyes: "Two of them. Use caution."
  203. Arkune: "Those are... huge!"
  204. "Are those...?! More dragons! I think!"
  205. Arkune attempts to swing at the mist-shrouded beast
  206. [Arkune : Heavy Club
  207. Attack: 21, Damage: 13 - Concealment: miss]
  208. The mace misses the Wyvern by inches, it snarling.
  209. Valaire: "(I'm getting really pissed that the mouse keeps on being right about this sort of thing...)"
  210. Night Eyes: "(It defies reason, doesn't it?)"
  211. Adrian: "(Her dumb luck is rather surprising at times.)"
  212.
  213. The giant dragon steps forwards, lunging at Arkune with both tail and tooth.
  214. [Mistlord Wyvern : Bite
  215. Attack: 13, Damage: 13
  216. Mistlord Wyvern : Tail Slap
  217. Attack: 20, Damage: 9]
  218.
  219. Night Eyes dashes forward to guard Adrian, drawing her blade defensively and projecting illusory clones. [Mirror Image: 4]
  220.
  221. Adrian opens the scroll provided by Valaire, turning his attention toward the barely-visible wyvern as violet light begins to outline it. [Hypnotic Stare, Faerie Fire]
  222.
  223. Mikolotov steps forward, spear raised to fend off attacks.
  224.
  225. Valaire: "Ah, there you are, big boy. Come to mama."
  226. Valaire advances towards the large dragon, speaking something in an arcane tongue before gesturing at it. [Blindness, DC 16]
  227. [Mistlord Wyvern : Fortitude Save: 16]
  228.
  229. Mist Wyvern growls, swinging its tail in a lethal arc, slamming it down behind it.
  230. [Mist Wyvern : Tail Slam
  231. Attack: 29, Damage: 17
  232. Crit Confirm: 22, Crit Damage: +6]
  233. Arkune: "Aaargh!"
  234. "W-why are these so strong?!"
  235. Mikolotov: "They said they were monsters..."
  236.
  237. Arkune backs away, standing by Mikolotov as she uses her rune. [Cure Light Wounds: 6, Compel Alacrity]
  238. Valaire: "You certainly seem to have gotten beaten up, little mouse..."
  239. Arkune: "Carp... this can't go like last time..."
  240.
  241. Mistlord Wyvern advances, shooting a concussive blast of mist at the party.
  242. [Mistlord Wyvern : Mist Ball
  243. Damage: 12, Reflex DC 15 for half]
  244. [Arkune : Reflex Save: 18
  245. Night Eyes : Reflex Save: 25
  246. Adrian : Reflex Save: 13]
  247. Night Eyes reflexively leaps over the ball, being buffeted slightly by the blast.
  248. The place where the ball exploded is now covered in the thick fog.
  249. Adrian winces, stumbling back from the burst of wind.
  250. Arkune: "What was that!?"
  251.
  252. Night Eyes recalls the previous wyvern, directing her blade towards the beast's claws.
  253. [Night Eyes : Rapier, Frost
  254. Attack: 23, Damage: 5 + 6 Frost]
  255. Mistlord Wyvern is struck by the blade, growling at the doppelgangers.
  256.
  257. Adrian glares at the two dragons, mustering magical focus before shouting up at them.
  258. Adrian: [Draconic] "You may have cowed the villagers, but we are not so easily terrorized by an overgrown drakeling or two. Recognize your superiors!"
  259. [Blistering Invective, DC 16: Intimidate: 21]
  260. [Mistlord Wyvern : Reflex Save: 8
  261. Mist Wyvern : Reflex Save: 15]
  262. The large draconic being seems unaffected, roaring at Adrian, but the smaller partner seems to be quite scared, recoiling as it bursts into flame.
  263. Arkune: "Did... you just scare a dragon and set it on fire?"
  264. Valaire: "Never dismiss Lord Adrian's talent, mouse."
  265. Adrian: "I'd rather hoped to scare both of them."
  266. Night Eyes: "My lord's indignation is not to be dismissed."
  267. Mikolotov: "I thought the phrase was 'sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me'..."
  268. Valaire: "Well, it means we can just be less merciful on the larger one, then, for daring not to be cowed."
  269.
  270. Mikolotov steps up, trying to thrust his spear into the wyvern's mouth.
  271. [Mikolotov : Lance
  272. Attack: 12, Damage: 5]
  273. Mikolotov: "Gah..."
  274. Mikolotov misses the face, the spear bouncing off its wing.
  275.
  276. Valaire: "This might sting a little, mouse."
  277. Valaire procures a scroll and a vial of blackish liquid from her sleeve effortlessly, reciting arcane language from the scroll while pouring the liquid carefully upon Arkune's wounds. [Infernal Healing]
  278. Arkune: "Th-that feels weird..."
  279. "What did you pour on me?"
  280. Valaire: "A little something to help treat your wounds."
  281. "Don't worry, it's perfectly harmless."
  282.
  283. Mist Wyvern advances on Mikolotov, biting at him, then swinging its tail viciously
  284. [Mist Wyvern : Bite
  285. Attack: 8, Damage: 9
  286. Mist Wyvern : Tail Slam
  287. Attack: 14, Damage: 16
  288. Both strikes bounce harmlessly off Skye's armour.]
  289.
  290. Arkune places her hand against her wounds again, trying to ignore the strange spell on her. [Cure Light Wounds: 11]
  291.
  292. Mistlord Wyvern works on thinning the amount of doppelgangers for Night Eyes, lashing out with a bite, and its tail.
  293. [Mistlord Wyvern : Bite
  294. Attack: 27, Damage: 20
  295. Crit Confirm: 21, Crit Damage: +7 - Mirror Image: miss
  296. Mistlord Wyvern : Tail Slap
  297. Attack: 16, Damage: 12 - Mirror Image: miss
  298. [Night Eyes : Parry! - Attack: 17]
  299. Its debilitating bite shatters one of the doppelgangers, its tail taking out another.
  300. Night Eyes makes note of the Wyvern's movements, taking an opportunity to lunge at its jaw. [Studied Combat]
  301. [Night Eyes : Rapier, Frost
  302. Attack: 13+5, Damage: 7 + 1 Frost - Fearsome Guise, Intimidate: 28]
  303. Mistlord Wyvern is struck squarely in the jaw, barely getting past the armoured scales.
  304.
  305. Adrian backs away from the creature's range, eyes flashing with light as he continues to mentally assault the larger wyvern. [Murderous Command, DC 16]
  306. [Mistlord Wyvern : Will Save: 14]
  307.
  308. Mikolotov hops back, jabbing the beast in the face again.
  309. [Mikolotov : Lance
  310. Attack: 21, Damage: 6 - Concealment: hit]
  311. The lance finally hits its mark, wounding the creature's snout.
  312.
  313. Valaire grins in satisfaction with Adrian's choice of spell, turning around and aiding her new ally-of-convenience by throwing a barrage of white-hot flames at the weaker of the two. [Magic Missile, Damage: 4, 4, 2]
  314. The flames barrage the smaller wyvern, scorching its wing.
  315.
  316. Mist Wyvern bites and flicks its tail against Arkune, not able to advance any further.
  317. [Mist Wyvern : Bite
  318. Attack: 13, Damage: 9 - Concealment: miss
  319. Mist Wyvern : Tail Slam
  320. Attack: 25, Damage: 14 - Concealment: hit]
  321. Arkune: "Why are their tails so strong!?"
  322. Valaire: "That's typically due to them throwing their entire weight in the blow. Do try not to die..."
  323.
  324. Arkune backs away again, trying to keep up with the barrage of wounds, feeling slightly off as Valaire's spell helps, somewhat. [Cure Light Wounds: 13]
  325.
  326. The giant Wyvern snarls, tearing into its now enemy with a vicious maw and tail.
  327. [Mistlord Wyvern : Bite
  328. Attack: 23, Damage: 16
  329. Mistlord Wyvern : Tail Slap
  330. Attack: 17, Damage: 11]
  331. The attacks break the creature's left wing, audible crunching sounds being heard, before its attacker looks on Adrian in fearsome rage.
  332. Adrian: "Mikolotov, help Arkune!"
  333. Arkune: "I certainly wouldn't mind some of your healing."
  334. Valaire: "It seems your little charm may have made it quite annoyed, my lord."
  335. Adrian: "It appears so. Hm."
  336. Night Eyes: "Stay behind me, Adrian."
  337.
  338. Night Eyes keeps her gaze focused on the larger wyvern, aiming again for the jaw.
  339. [Night Eyes : Rapier, Frost
  340. Attack: 29, Damage: 7 + 1 Frost
  341. Crit Confirm: 20, Crit Damage: +9]
  342. The rapier buries itself in the head of the beast, a cracking and crunching sound being heard, as several of its teeth fall out, and its jaw becomes disfigured.
  343.

  349. Valaire: "I truly do admire your battle strategy, my lord."
  350.
  351. Mikolotov moves over to Arkune, resting his hand on her body, imbued with healing energy. [Lay On Hands: 7]

  355. Arkune seems to breath easier as her health is restored.
  356. Arkune: "Thank you, Miko!"
  357. Mikolotov: "It's my duty, Arkune. Please try to not die."
  358. Adrian: "Is it really worse than cutting them to pieces? I doubt we intended to leave them in any state to care about the difference for long."
  359. Arkune: "More it's driving them against eachother... I guess anything goes in this kind of case, though!"

  458. Arkune dodges the worst of it.
  459. Adrian: "Night Eyes?! Are you alright?"
  460. Valaire wanders over to the inn door, knocking on it.
  461. Arkune: "Should we finish it off?"
  462. Village Woman: "Y-yes?"
  463. Night Eyes: "I'll be alright. You kept it from inflicting any harm before that."
  464. Valaire: "A delivery for you, courtesy of my lord."
  465. Night Eyes climbs up from the floor, shaking herself to her senses.
  466. Village Woman: "A... delivery?"
  467. Village Woman pokes her head outside, looking at the monstrous wyvern, lying defeated.
  468. Valaire: "Come out and see for yourself."
  469. Adrian: "It's heartening to know I can count on your help, but I don't want you hurt, either."
  470. Night Eyes: "Arkune, could you lay it to rest?"
  471. Village Woman: "Oh... oh my gods..."
  472. Arkune quickly finishes off the beast with her sword
  473. Arkune: "The beast is gone, and your town is safe!"
  474. Adrian: "(If there's two of them, more aren't unlikely...)"
  475. Night Eyes: "(Good point. Maybe we should ask patrols further into the region.)"
  476. Arkune moves closer to Valaire, whispering to her.
  477. Arkune: "(Um... so what was that magic? It felt... weird...)"
  478. Valaire: "(Do not ask questions you will regret knowing the answer to, little mouse.)"
  479. Arkune: "(I... suppose I can drop it for now.)"
  480. Village Woman: "Wow..."
  481. "You... you've really saved us all."
  482. Night Eyes: "(That said, if I recall rightly they travel in pairs at most.)"
  483. Valaire: "There were two, no less, but the other is a little up the street."
  484. Village Woman: "Thank you! I'll go tell everyone!"
  485. Valaire: "(I do look forward to that free alcohol...)"
  486. Village Woman runs back inside, telling everyone about the brave heroes who slew the mighty mist monsters.
  487. Mikolotov: "(We could use some R n' R after that...)"
  488. Adrian: "Good to know. I feel better about celebrating, knowing it isn't likely to be in error."
  489. Valaire pauses, turning to the slain wyvern.
  490. Valaire: "Pairs, huh?"
  491. Arkune: "Do you think we could turn these into more armor?"
  492. Valaire: "And with what Lord Adrian made it do to its partner..."
  493. Arkune: "Was... a little disturbing, but necessary."
  494. Mikolotov: "I imagine so. The armoured plates on its wings might even be able to make more powerful armour..."
  495. Valaire: "I think I have a newfound respect for my lord's talents."
  496. Adrian: "Better it than me. I couldn't exactly stop after that."
  497. Night Eyes: "He saved a village."
  498. Valaire: "You heard it from them. They celebrate us as 'heroes'."
  499. Village Woman bursts out of the doors, looking at the dragon, excitedly beckoning in the party.
  500. Village Woman: "Please, Slayers, come on in and celebrate with us!"
  501. Arkune nods.
  502. Arkune: "We'll be right there."
  503. Valaire grins devilishly.
  504. Valaire: "Looks like the party preparations are complete."
  505. "I'll just help myself, then..."
  506. Valaire wanders into the inn, her barbed tail coiling itself around her waist.
  507. Adrian follows Valaire inside, stepping carefully around the wyvern's remains.
  508. Arkune enters as well, gladly accepting and food and drink offered.
  509. Village Woman: "We're really glad you were here when we really needed you, you will always be welcome in Everwood."
  510. Valaire: "A Zeltrian noble becoming the hero of an Ashdale village... this would certainly go a long way towards improving national relations, wouldn't you say?"
  511. Village Woman: "...Zeltrian Noble?"
  512. Arkune: "We just did what was right, Valaire."
  513. Adrian: "Thank you. I'll be sure to pass by again. It's a charming little town."
  514. Arkune: "No need to worry, miss."
  515. Adrian: "Ah, we haven't properly introduced ourselves, have we? I am Lord Adrian Kelton of Black Hills, traveling to Kyaro on behalf of the crown."
  516. Village Woman: "You are? But... last I heard, you were preparing to attack us..."
  517. Valaire: "My lord is here to prove to the people of Ashdale that we seek to make reparations for national relations in the past."
  518. "He was sent by the crown itself to prove that any rumors of attacks are being perpetrated by treasonous rebels, not by Zeltria itself." [Diplomacy: 24]
  519. Adrian: "As she says. Our intentions are only diplomatic, not hostile." [Diplomacy: 26]
  520. Village Woman: "Well, thank you! I'll be sure to pass on word to people about you."
  521. Night Eyes: "Mist Wyverns are solitary creatures, travelling in pairs at most. It is unlikely that others will come."
  522. Village Woman: "Still, please, feast and make merry for the rest of the day. Oh, and almost all our rooms are free because of the... ex-monster. We've be honoured if you stayed here tonight."
  523. Valaire: "And if nothing else, if it was those two's 'territory', other wyverns should be sufficiently warded away from coming here for some time."
  524. "(Certainly not one so... abnormal.)"
  525. "Free food, free alcohol, free room. Perhaps being a hero isn't so bad..."
  526. Adrian: "Thank you. The accommodations are very helpful."
  527. "We'd best move on tomorrow, but it's a nice chance to properly relax."
  528. Valaire: "It is. It would be good to get a room to myself, too..."
  529. Arkune: "Thank you, all of you, for the gifts."
  530. Arkune: "They are well appreciated after our journey."
  531. The party make merry until the evening, where they retire to their quarters to sleep for the night.
