  1. >What Discord has pulled out with this carnival will probably never stop to amaze you. The shopping district that he has created for all of those vendors that wanted to make an extra coin from this event was simply something out of this world.
  2. >The changing stained glasses that were above of this part of the town displayed imageries of happy sales ponies, and just like the rest of the town, they were constantly changing.
  3. >Saying that the images change had a patter would be redundant at this point. The sales ponies were actually from different eras, the happy jingle that was playing seemingly by no one kept the cheerful mood among the crowd.
  4. >The little shops themselves were so magical in their nature that you were simply too enamored to question the logic behind them.
  5. >Small tents on the outside, but when ponies entered or exited them they revealed huge stores. Some very rudimentary, others were super high-class.
  6. >And this was also when your little group entered in a small conflict
  7. >Applejack stomps her hoof on the ground, looking at her friends with some frustration ”Ah said that Ah need sum’ spare parts fer mah cart! Ah saw one of those whacky tents that Discord set up were sellin’ ‘em, so Ah say that we go there first!”
  8. >”What?! Come on, Applejack that’s the lamest place to go! Especially when there’s a shop that’s pretty much only about Daring Do! I even saw that they had replicas of the temple that she explored during her adventures in “Raiders of the hidden cart!” can you imagine if they also have signed books?”
  9. >RD gasps, getting more excited about what could be in that store “Oh, Oh! Or what if Daring Do is secretly running that shop? That would be so awesome!”
  10. >Rarity in turns rolls her eyes and chuckles ”Rainbow Dash, please calm down and think about what you just said, a signed book, really? You don’t need such banal mementos when you pretty much are friends with the actual mare”
  11. >The white unicorn then turns to Applejack and raises an eyebrow ”And Applejack, please, spare parts for your little cart? Darling, you can get those at any ironmongery in Ponyville, there’s no need for you to buy them right now. Especially when we are at the biggest shopping district that Equestria has ever seen!”
  12. >Applejack huffs as her first reply, not taking kindly those words ”Well, those were high quality parts! And Ah’m always as busy as a stump-tailed cow in fly time! Who knows when in tarnation Ah’ll have the time to get those parts again!”
  13. >RD joins Applejack in her little protest ”Did you see how awesome that replica was? They got every detail right! It even had those skeleton ponies that Daring Do fought in chapter 16! I HAVE to own that thing! It was so frickin’ cool that it would be a crime that anypony got it instead of me!”
  14. >”Why don’t you drop that for a moment and listen to what moi has to say? Not far from here I saw a little shop that held what were simply the most fabulous and stylish hats and scarfs that I’ve ever laid my eyes upon! Wouldn’t that be a much better location to visit than a simple ironmongery or…whatever Rainbow Dash wanted to go?”
  15. >Applejack replies immediately by shaking her head “Nope”
  16. >And RD joins in ”Of course not! What kind pony in her right mind would want to go and buy hats and scarfs when winter got delayed for like three months?” Clearly RD didn’t want to hide her sarcasm at that point
  17. >Applejack lets out a chuckle and gives RD a sly grin “Yeah, Ah wonder what pony was so knuckle headed as to cause such fuss over Cloudsdale that they were forced to delay a whole season. Ah can’t complain though, it has given me more time to work on mah farm before the snow hits”
  18. >RD blushes in embarrassment and pulls AJ hat down “I thought that we agreed to never speak of that ever again! And besides, why would I want hats? I fly so fast that I don’t need them, and I have like, a million scarfs already!”
  19. >”Ya mean those that look like yer little turtle pet? …” Applejack adjust her hat and grins at RD once more “Because ah gotta admit, Ah reckon they’re as cute as a button”
  20. >Okay, this was getting a little too uncomfortable to watch, so you decide to step in
  21. “Heeeeey….here’s another idea…”
  22. >The three mares turn their attention to you, which was good because you felt that they were going to kill each other.
  23. “What if we split up and then come back here in say... an hour? That way, everyone can buy whatever they want without having to fight over where to go first or the decisions of the others”
  24. >”Just an hour?!” Rarity gasps “But darling, didn’t you see how many and wonderful accessories and clothes they sell at this place? Such a small amount of time won’t be enough for me to even begin to scout for the fabulous hidden secrets of fashion that this marketplace holds!”
  25. >”Sheesh Rarity, calm down, you are always overdoing it with this kind of stuff” RD looks to you and grins “Besides, that’s enough time for me to grab that awesome replica before anypony else can, AND to check out the rest of their inventory too! An hour is no problem to me!”
  26. >”Sounds fine fer me too. Ah don’t think that Ah’ll need that much time but” Applejack chuckles “Ya never know what kind of ponies ya might run into. So we are meetin’ here in exactly an hour then, no problem, as ah said Ah’ll be finished with mah business in two shakes of a sheep’s tail!”
  27. >”Alright, if everypony is so adamant to keep such a tight restriction in our schedule, then I have no option but to agree…” Rarity crosses her hooves and huffs “But I’m placing the blame on all of you if I miss the next big trend in fashion!”
  28. >”Wait…” RD stops her excitement for a moment so she can ask you something “What are you going to do, squirt?”
  29. “Me? Huh…”
  30. >You rub the back of your head…hmmm…thinking about it…you better bring something for your mothers…and Cherrywood.
  31. “I think that I’ll get some souvenirs for my moms and Cherrywood. I’m sure that I will be able to find something in this place that they will like…”
  32. >”Anon, if you don’t mind my curiosity…” Rarity approaches you with a little sly smile on her face “Would I be wrong to assume that this Cherrywood is the lucky filly that you decided to steal her heart? Could you please tell me more about her? That is, if you don’t mind me prying a little more into your life”
  33. “Yeah, I have no problem I guess. You see, Cherrywood is…”
  34. >You feel your cheeks warm…oh man, why were you blushing about this…just for thinking about your adorable…fluffy…kind…super intelligent…cheerful…amazing…bat
  35. >”Well, Cherrywood is….she is….”
  36. >”My, oh my…” Rarity gives you a little smirk, but not one of contempt or anything. It felt like she was enjoying this in a more friendly way “I think that the pony who got his heart stole was you” She giggles and pats your head “Oh well, please don’t take this as if I was making fun of you, as a matter of fact, I actually have another advice for you, would you want to hear it, darling?”
  37. >You slowly nod and reply with a meekly voice
  38. “Y-yes…sure…”
  39. >”Don’t worry, in fact I think that what I have to say would qualify more like a compliment, you see Anon. It is clear to me that you are really in love, and trust me I know how wonderful that feeling can be, especially when we it is first love that we are talking about.” Rarity lets out a sigh, you can feel some nostalgia coming from her
  40. >”I can trust that you will be a gentlecolt at all times, so my little advice is that you enjoy every single moment that you spend with your special somepony, and do your best to keep her happy. First love only comes one in your life time, so this is something that you have to treasure”
  41. >You nod
  42. “Thanks Rarity, and yeah… I really, really like Cherrywood. She’s cute, intelligent, and brave and has a super kind heart. I’ll do my best to keep her happy, I promise”
  43. >Rarity smiles at you “I have absolute certainty that you will fulfill that promise, but if you excuse moi. I have to go now, those sales won’t last forever and this beautiful mare has to make the best that she can with the little time that she has”
  44. >And with that the three mares go their separate ways, getting lost among the crowd of ponies that filled the market district streets.
  45. >Aaaah, now it was only you, Aegia and…
  46. “Spike? What are you doing here?”
  47. >”Well, I’m not here for you if that’s what you are wondering…nope, I’m here for that!” Spike points at a tent that had a sign that read “The incredible bitduck – arcade and comic book shop”
  48. “Mate, that actually looks like a lot of fun…”
  49. >You take a step towards the tent but are immediately stop by Aegia “Non. Zat kind of entertainment is bad for you. We are not going in zere”
  50. >Spike chuckles “You heard the mare, those arcades are too much for your fragile royal mind”
  51. “Oh come on! It won’t take that long…”
  52. >Now, you were never into videogames or comics, but something about it just…made you to really want to go inside. Especially now that Spike was just looking at you with that little shit eating grin
  53. >”Now let’s go. We have little time to do any shopping, Mon petit” Aegia lowers her head and scoops you so you fall on her back.
  54. >You know what, fuck that. You were going to teleport away from her. She’s not even your real bodyguard.
  55. “I said that I want to…”
  56. >Aegia slaps your horn, making your magic go away and in turn, making you to recoil “Zat won’t work wiz me, Mon petit. I know hundreds of ways to prevent a unicorn to cast his or her magic. You are not going zere, zat’s an order. We are going to lurk zis place so you can get somezing for your mozers. Understand?” Aegia gives you an icy glare that honestly unnerves you
  57. >You nod frantically and give her a military salute
  58. “Yes, ma’am! I understand ma’am!”
  59. >Aegia nods and reaches to her saddlebag, pulling out a bunch of coins and gave everything to Spike “Monsieur Spike, I would advise for you to not go in zere. But you are not my responsibility. I have to request zat if you see one of zose books zat young ponies enjoy so much, please buy one for yourself and one for ze Prince. Zere’s extra money for you to buy whatever else zat you might want”
  60. >”Aww sweet! Thank you! And…” Spike looks at you and snorts “I’ll find something for the “Prince”” Spike gives you a wink with a shit eating grin “Now if you don’t mind, this dragon has some high scores to set and comic books to get!”
  61. >You narrow your eyes and growl
  62. “You…”
  63. >And with that, Aegia walks away with you on her back. Spike enters the tent, but not before giving you one last smirk…motherfucker
  64. >That son of a fucking bitch, first he gets those awesome French fries, now he gets to play fucking videogames and reading comics while you are stuck doing boring shopping. Fuck his fucking shit…
  65. >The marketplace was fairly impressive; again, these little shops and tents held much larger buildings inside them. Some of them were about magic, other bookstores…but…you were still angry about what happened to actually care anymore.
  66. >”Tell me if you see somezing zat is of your interest Mon petit. Ze Princesses were kind enough as to give me enough money for you and moi”
  67. “….”
  68. >You weren’t talking to her, not after she denied you of your little fun time at the arcade. Aegia slightly narrows her eyes and gently puts you down on the ground
  69. >”Now, now, I wasn’t hired to deal wiz temper tantrums. Zat is not the behavior zat I would expect from you, Mon petit. Even less considering zat you are ze Prince. You will now behave in ze correct manner. Zat is, unless Mon petit really wants to learn why I’m ze commander of ze secret service. Understand?”
  70. >Once again that cold, cold glare of hers made you flinch at first, and then snap into reality, effectively making you drop your angry mood
  71. “Y-Yes ma’am Aegia! I understand ma’am Aegia!”
  72. >”Good, zat is more like it.” You see that for just for a brief moment, Aegia made a little smirk before going back to her emotionless self “Now Mon petit, do you see anyzing zat your mozers would like?”
  73. “Well…huh…”
  74. >What would Luna and Celestia like? You start to inspect the market taking into account what you know about them.
  75. >Celestia is the ruler of Equestria, but you know that the perfect princess thing is just a mask that she wears because everyone can’t see her as anything else.
  76. > In reality she’s kind of arrogant, smug, confident, a trickster and a little self-centered. But beyond that, you also remember that she really doesn’t like to be around extravagant stuff, her office was incredibly simple, sans that desk and her super comfy looking chair.
  77. >So it’s a given, at least for you, that she wouldn’t like stuff like gems or over the top gifts. She’s too humble and cool for that.
  78. >Luna was much more straightforward when it came to show who she is to everyone who isn’t super close to her, but regardless, she has a secret side of her own.
  79. >For starters, she still had some problems dealing with her past as Nightmare Moon, but she’s doing her very damn best to get over that.
  80. >And secondly, she’s way, way more girly than what she lets on, she’s super cuddly and just loves to show you her love at every moment that she can…which was something that you’ll never complain about.
  81. “Hmmm, I think that I have an idea of at least what kind of stuff they might like. If anything, the style of it”
  82. >Something simple but with a deeper meaning would do the trick…like that super cute teapot that you just laid your eyes upon. It was on a tent that had a sign that read “The crimson afternoon –Rare antiques and other vintage objects”
  83. >The teapot had a peachy color and was shaped like a cute female lion, she had her eyes closed and was depicted as if she was making a small little roar.
  84. >The teacups that went along with were the lion’s cubs; each one was depicted in a different manner. There was an angry one, a lazy little lion, one that was a smug bastard and another little cub that looked like he was just happy of being there.
  85. >Awww, you were sure that Luna would love that
  86. “And I think that I just found the perfect gift! My mom would love that teapot!”
  87. >Aegia raises an eyebrow ”Which one? You need to be more specific, Mon petit. You have two mozers after all”
  88. >You let out a small groan. You do forget that ponies can get confused about that. It was honestly your mistake, no big deal
  89. “I’m talking about Luna, now please, let’s go, I really don’t want for anyone else to buy that teapot before I can. And I’m sure that we may find something in there that my mom Celestia would like too”
  90. >Aegia nods and follows you into the store “Understood”
  91. >A bell rings when the two of you enter the tent. The first thing that you notice was that this one actually wasn’t that big when compared to the crazy stuff that you saw outside. In all honesty, and while the inside was bigger than the outside, it wasn’t a very big store.
  92. >Old clocks, plates, pots, mugs, paintings, little sculptures and much more were fairly cramped together. But it wasn’t like the shop was a mess, far from it, everything was very clean, and seemed to be in order, well, for the most part.
  93. >It’s hard to explain how this shop felt like. The atmosphere of this shop was definitely cozy, but also… old. Like if you if you just stepped into a little time capsule, sending you to a time when everything was much simpler and straightforward
  94. >At the very end of the store you could see a rustic desk, with a cash register that seems that it had seen better days, and behind the desk there was an old earth pony mare.
  95. >She was fairly chubby, her mane was completely white, and her fur was colored with a grayish brown. She was wearing a pair of thick glasses and a scarf with red and golden colors.
  96. >”Oh costumers! What a wonderful surprise!” The mare exclaimed with delight “Come in, come in! Please, what can I do for you?” She was wearing a warm and welcoming smile, motioning Aegia and you to come closer.
  97. “Well, I saw that lion teapot and I actually was interested in buying it…”
  98. >”Ooooh, wonderful, wonderful! Let me go and get it for you my dear…” The old mare gets up from her chair, and very slowly walks to where the teapot and cups were “I’m so happy that I finally got somepony interested in buying something from me little shop…”
  99. >”Excuse moi for asking madame, but why is zat?” Aegia was looking through the shelves, a little sculpture of a firefly caught her attention “Zere are so many wonderful zings in here”
  100. >”Oh, please, don’t think about that too much…” The old mare waves her hoof dismissively “It’s only natural that ponies won’t care about these little trinkets and old memories that probably were made long before they were born when they have all of these wonderful shops around them….is this the teapot that you wanted my dear?” The old lady asks to you.
  101. >You slowly nod and walk to the mare
  102. “Yes, that’s the one, thank you Miss…”
  103. >”Misses my dear, even when my husband has…well, you know…gone to a better place, I’m still faithful…” The poor lady takes a deep and melancholic sigh “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, my name is Mrs. Gold Dust, a pleasure to meet you”
  104. “I’m sorry Mrs. Dust, my name is Anon, and this right here is Aegia. I have to say that I really like the little shop that you have set up, that’s why I’m a little surprised about what you just said, sorry for asking but… are we really the first customers that you’ve had?”
  105. >Gold Dust slowly nods as she starts to carefully wrap the teapot with some paper “The first ones since my friend Heart Watch convinced me to come to this event…I can’t complain though. Not when that Discord has paid for the travel expenses” The old mare laughs a little “I have to admit that it was quite the surprise…Couldn’t help to bring a few ponies interested though, but…”
  106. >When she finishes wrapping the teapot, Gold Dust then moves onto the little cups “Always look on the bright side of life, that’s what my husband, Celestia bless his soul, always used to say…I still wish that more ponies had took interest in my little shop… but that’s okay, that’s okay…I’ve had my fair share of disappointments through my life”
  107. >You feel your heart sink a little. You can feel that this poor lady was sad…you just wished that there was something that you could do for her
  108. “….”
  109. >Mrs. Dust finishes wrapping everything and places the teapot and cups in a small box that had a bootlace around it, she turns to you with a warm smile “Will that be everything my dear?”
  110. “Not really, if you don’t mind…I would like to see what else I can find in here…”
  111. >”Oh no, please, by all means be my guest…” Using her mouth, the mare grabs the box by the bootlace and places it on the desk, Mrs. Dust then sits on her chair “Please let me know if something else catches your attention my dear”
  112. >You start looking through her shop, finding tons of little stuff that you at least thought would be neat. Something that caught your interest above everything else was a small metal sculpture, no larger than the diameter of the base of your hoof.
  113. >It was a stallion, and he looked old, but despite the sculpture being made of metal, you could see tons of little details on it, making him look like he was determined to fight a huge dragon or to rescue his loved one. His lance was just a broom and his armor looked like it was made of pots, casseroles and other household objects.
  114. >By his side there was a little and chubby stallion, dressed in what you assumed was a mere robe. And just like the old knight, he was made with so much care and skill that the frustration and annoyance that he showed was almost palpable.
  115. “Mrs. Dust, I think that I’ll take this one with me too…”
  116. >You levitate the small sculpture and place it on her desk.
  117. “Now, if you don’t mind, I’ll keep looking through your little shop. I have to admit, I’m having lots of difficulties with deciding what to buy, there’s so many neat things here”
  118. >You actually get so much into your little research that you weren’t able to pay attention to the conversation that was taking place between Aegia and Mrs. Dust. You were too busy feeling like an adventurer that was discovering hidden secrets from the past to actually listen to them.
  119. >”Ooooh, wonderful, wonderful!” With a smile on her face, Gold Dust starts wrapping the small sculpture “Then I will not bother you my dear” Mrs. Dust takes notice on Aegia interest on the little firefly “Would you want me to wrap that replica of the rare rainbow firefly, Miss…”
  120. >”Aegia and oui, zis sculpture is magnifique” Aegia handles the sculpture to Gold Dust, but doesn’t bother to continue looking for more stuff, instead she was just keeping an eye on you.
  121. >Gold Dusts starts to wrap up the small firefly while looking at you. She couldn’t stop but to find your interest in these old trinkets as something that was completely adorable ”I have to say, Miss Aegia, you made a great job at educating your son, it’s so rare to see a foal that is so well-mannered these days…”
  122. >”Excuse moi, madame, but I’m not ze colt’s mozer. I’m just his caretaker”
  123. >”Oh, I’m sorry, I’m sorry” Gold Dust lets out a small laugh “It was just silly old me being the dumb pony that I’ve always been. I guess some things never change”
  124. >Aegia nods ”Please don’t zink too much about it madame. Now if you excuse moi, I have to talk wiz Anon…”
  125. >After too much searching, you finally stumble upon a mask that you can’t describe as anything other than a goblin. You grab it with your magic and inspect it.
  126. >You adjust your little glasses so you can examine the gross goblin more thoroughly.
  127. >His eyes were hollow so you could see through them, the skin was green and filled with scars and warts. He had an incredibly long and pointy nose and this nauseating evil grin…
  128.
  129. >The thrill of discovery got you in such way, that you can’t help but to strike a heroic pose and exclaim triumphant….
  130. “Ha ha! At last! I have found a suitable gift for my adorable bat! Now she won’t be sad that I didn’t bring her anything from this expedition!”
  131. >”Not now Mon Petit….” Aegia covers your mouth with her hoof and drags to a part of the shop where the old lady couldn’t see you. When she’s sure that the coast is clear, she begins speaking in a very low volume “Well, have you zought of somezing?”
  132. “Some-“
  133. >”Shhhhh, keep your volume down, mon petit” Aegia removes her hoof from your mouth, and looks expectantly for your answer
  134. >You tilt your head in confusion, you don’t know what the fuck was going on. But you decide to humor her, so you keep your voice low
  135. “Aegia, why did you brought me here? Why do we have to whisper? What was I supposed to think about?”
  136. >Aegia rolls her eyes and brings her face closer to yours “Have you zought how are we going to help zis poor mare?”
