  1. ti-guru@localhost:~$ sudo nextcloud.enable-https lets-encrypt
  2. In order for Let's Encrypt to verify that you actually own the
  3. domain(s) for which you're requesting a certificate, there are a
  4. number of requirements of which you need to be aware:
  5.
  6. 1. In order to register with the Let's Encrypt ACME server, you must
  7. agree to the currently-in-effect Subscriber Agreement located
  8. here:
  9.
  10. https://letsencrypt.org/repository/
  11.
  12. By continuing to use this tool you agree to these terms. Please
  13. cancel now if otherwise.
  14.
  15. 2. You must have the domain name(s) for which you want certificates
  16. pointing at the external IP address of this machine.
  17.
  18. 3. Both ports 80 and 443 on the external IP address of this machine
  19. must point to this machine (e.g. port forwarding might need to be
  20. setup on your router).
  21.
  22. Have you met these requirements? (y/n) y
  23. Please enter an email address (for urgent notices or key recovery): MY.EMAIL@gmail.com
  24. Please enter your domain name(s) (space-separated): cloud.MYDOMAIN.COM
  25. Attempting to obtain certificates... error running certbot:
  26.
  27. Saving debug log to /var/snap/nextcloud/current/certs/certbot/logs/letsencrypt.log
  28. Obtaining a new certificate
  29. Performing the following challenges:
  30. http-01 challenge for cloud.MYDOMAIN.COM
  31. Using the webroot path /var/snap/nextcloud/current/certs/certbot for all domains.
  32. Waiting for verification...
  33. Cleaning up challenges
  34. Failed authorization procedure. cloud.MYDOMAIN.COM (http-01): urn:acme:error:connection :: The server could not connect to the client to verify the domain :: Fetching http://cloud.MYDOMAIN.COM/.well-known/acme-challenge/<LONG ACME KEY>: Timeout
  35. IMPORTANT NOTES:
  36. - The following errors were reported by the server:
  37.
  38. Domain: cloud.MYDOMAIN.COM
  39. Type: connection
  40. Detail: Fetching
  41. http://cloud.MYDOMAIN.COM/.well-known/acme-challenge/<LONG ACME KEY>:
  42. Timeout
  43.
  44. To fix these errors, please make sure that your domain name was
  45. entered correctly and the DNS A record(s) for that domain
  46. contain(s) the right IP address. Additionally, please check that
  47. your computer has a publicly routable IP address and that no
  48. firewalls are preventing the server from communicating with the
  49. client. If you're using the webroot plugin, you should also verify
  50. that you are serving files from the webroot path you provided.
  51. - Your account credentials have been saved in your Certbot
  52. configuration directory at
  53. /var/snap/nextcloud/current/certs/certbot/config. You should make a
  54. secure backup of this folder now. This configuration directory will
  55. also contain certificates and private keys obtained by Certbot so
  56. making regular backups of this folder is ideal.
