Nirulea : Monkey Match Makers 1

The land of Nirulea is covered in a plethora of adventurers, each looking for some kind of job to earn them more wealth and fame. Whether it's across the sea, the blistering dessert, high mountains, valleys, it doesn't matter what an adventurer has to do to get the job done. And one such group of adventurers find themselves entering into a city-state of sorts, having seen a flyer about a job on their way in. It directed them to the tavern, which they found themselves standing outside of, readying themselves to enter.

"This still strikes me as a strange request upon this flyer..." The diminutive light-pink kobold mumbled to herself, looking over the flyer they brought with them "Not much of an explanation on what the job actually is"

"Nothing better than a nice inn after a long day's walk!" Liza said, pushing open the door and stepping into the tavern, her hips swaying a bit more than one would consider natural.

"W-wait for me miss Liza" she stumbled, hurrying after the large cow

Bawks said nothing as he pushed his way into the tavern, he looked around a bit "well so long as we get a good job, that puts food on the table it dosn't matter where I get my job"

"That's normal. Don't want folks runnin off 'fore they hear what the job is" Terra remarked, the 'rough and tumble' dragoness making her way in behind the two "'Sides, not like it matters much to us, right?"

"I'm sure we'll be able to ask more from the person who put it out there." the cow shrugged. "But first we have to actually find them..." she said, glancing about the tavern.

Upon entering the tavern, they were greeted with the music of a fiddle, men and women alike laughing and dancing to the sound of the music. And hopping from table to table was the player of the fiddle, a slender monkey, a warm grin on his face as he hopped about, continuing to play for the tavern. The group, however, had more important things to worry about, like finding their patron: a man by the name of Dorcas. The flyer didn't describe what he looked like, either...

A rather massive Zebra waddled in behind the Kobold and bovine, their entire body quivering oncontrolably as they moved "I wouldn't worry too much about it, you do have me after all. I'll be your cleric for this. don't worry about thanking me, I can always accept food or jewels as payment for my services."

"I'm more confused than anything about how you can still fit through doors..." Salsa muttered under her breath, watching the immense zebra make her way in

The festivities alone brought a smile to the cow's face as she made her way through the tavern, making her way over to an open seat at its counter and occupying it with her wide rear. "Excuse me?" she said, trying to call out for anyone working there over the noise of the music.

"Heh, they make em wide round here cuz of folks like her. What say we find us a seat and wait for this Dorcas guy, eh?"
The dragoness already had an eye on a likely table, but was willing to let the others make the first move, so to speak(edited)

"Fine, your culture continues to befuddle me" she sighed, hurrying off to join the cow at the counter

Behind the bar was a voluptuous wolfess, her hips swaying gently to the music as she looked towards her new customer. "Yes, how may I help you, sugar~?"(edited)

"Either we find him or he finds us, and personally," she leaned back into her seat, "I don't think we should need to run around a place like this for something to simple, wouldn't you say?" she turned to face the wolfess. "Oh, yes, a round of drinks for me and my friends, and we're also looking for someone in town, would you happen to know a 'Dorcas'?"(edited)

"Do you know where Dorcas, the man who put out this flyer, would be?" Salsa asked, crawling her way up onto a stool, handing over the flyer to the wolfess

"Sounds good to me." Terra says, finding herself a seat near, but not exactly next to the well rounded cow. "Yeah, this Dorcas guy, we're lookin for him"

"I wouldn't know about any flyer. As for Dorcas-" The wolfess said, pointing towards the musician still hopping from table to table as he played his fiddle. "That would be him."

"Thank you very much" the kobold said, bowing to the wolfess, before climbing back down the stool and heading over to the bard

Bawks looked over at that monkey with the fiddle, "huh so that's our client huh"

"Pardon me, Dorcas, me and my group are here to help you with your problem" the tiny kobold said, looking up at the monkey

Liza chuckled to herself. "Well at least he makes himself easy to see." she leaned against the counter, watching him play about. "I'd hate to get in the way of his fun, maybe you should let him finish this song, at least?" she asked the kobold.

"Your posters mentioned we would be payed for this, enough to buy a dress and a buffet to celebrate with, yes?" The Zebra waddled over to the bar, smooshing her belly against it.(edited)

By the time the group had made their way over, the song was over, everyone laughing and raising their drinks to the bard. He bowed to them before hopping off the table, snatching up his hat and fishing out the gold people had given him. He looked towards the group with a smile. "Ah, yes, traveler's of the land, warriors and mages alike, I welcome you! Please, follow me," He said, leading the group over to a table.

"It's not just about the money, dear." the cow said to the colossal zebra, brushing up against her side (not like it was easy to avoid her) as she followed after the bard. "Lead the way, sir~"

Walking ahead of the group, Terra picked herself out a seat at the end of the table the musician had lead them over to, scooting her chair back and propping her feet up on the table "Alright, so, this problem of yours. Time to spill the beans, mister"

Salsa scrambled after the party, struggling to keep pace with their long legs, before climbing into her seat "Indeed, as my pirate-enthusiast cohort has stated, I am most curious as well"

The Zebra huffs, tugging on her belly rolls, and tuning herself about, manuvering her way over to the table, squishing her belly as far as could against the table, almost working as a table herself, "What was wrong with the bar over there? ...But yes, what does this paying job offer bring with it?"

"Ah, yes, well..." The Bard said, stammering a little bit with his words. He scratched the back of his head silently as he looked over at a few bags next to him. "Now, before I say anything, let it be known that I will be giving each of you 500 pieces of gold for your services. Will this suffice for anything I ask of you?"

Bawks let out a small whistle, this would defiantly bring some food for a while, but it did seem kinda sketchy, he looked at the monkey for his response

"Simply wanted consent. Now, as for the job..." Dorcus was cut off as a commotion started up in the tavern, a few different voices sounding out.
"She's taking on more!"
"Again?! Didn't they learn their lesson last time?"
"Who cares!? Let's go watch!"
People in the tavern started to leave quickly and eagerly, Dorcas sighing softly as he got up, holding the bag of money as well. "Well, I suppose it would be better to show you, if anything. Come." He started to lead the group out of the tavern.

With a sigh, salsa clambered down her seat and followed the tight-lipped monkey, tail swishing in fierce curiosity about the mission

The Zebra seemed irritated about all the moving about, reluctantly moving her flab out of the booth and after the group with a slow waddle, "A new Dress... and a buffet... better be worth it..."

Outside the tavern, a group of people were crowding around a chain-link fence, fencing off what appeared to be a practice field of sort for soldiers. In the center of that field were 5 men surrounding an enormous woman, probably weighing as much as their Zebra friend. Though it wasn't clear at first glance, the woman was, indeed, a Panther, clad in ill-fitting armor, her gut not even contained inside of it, and a broad sword rested on her shoulder. It looked as though a fight was going to start, five against one.

"So, you have it out for the giant cat lady, did she sit on a fiddle of yours?" the small kobold asked, looking up at the monkey

The cow's face went a bit red at the sight of the new blob. "I... don't suppose fighters around here are paid in food when they win?"

"I would hope not. I'd preffer to have my cash to spend on outfits... and then food."

Before too long, one of the men charged at the Panther. She easily sidestepped his attack, moving with speed far exceeding someone of her size. She slashed her sword at him harshly, barely blocking another strike from another one of the men. Her strokes were strong and firm, nearly knocking the men off their feet with each swing, not even breaking a sweat as she moved about. It didn't take long for her to overpower the men, disarming them swiftly and standing over all of them, victorious. The crowd around the fence cheered her on as they watched her fight, though Dorcus had a... strange look on his face. "Her speed... her grace... her elegance..." The monkey muttered softly as he watched, barely even noticing the group beside him.

"Not much, considering most pass out after I ask them if they can tailor an outfit for me. The most I could get was this two peice for a pouch of cash."

The tavern was completely silent for a moment, the bard in question in the back of the tavern, looking to be counting up the gold for the group. He winced, looking up weakly. "R-right here..."

"Well, if he's there, they're gonna have to throw in a bit of a meal before we get to whatever they want. I've been needing a snack, and these jogs around town aren't helping that." The Zebra trudged her way back into the Tavern.

"No need to be like that, Terra!" Liza called out as she chased after the enraged dragon. She went over to the monkey bard. "Sorry about that. Why'd you leave right after the fight, if you don't mind me asking?"

"You really need to stop running off on people like that" Salsa scolded "That's how you get the reputation of being a flake, and I'm pretty sure that just like in my homeland, flakes aren't really looked fondly upon by the ladies"

Bawks walked back to the tavern, just as Terra had her outburst, "welp now then perhaps you can just tell us what this is all about"

Stomping over to the table, the dragoness sat down with a loud huff, a burst of smoke wafting from her nostrils "You better have a damn good explanation" she said grumpily

"Yes, yes, I'm sure. However... simply being under her gaze sometimes is too much for me..." He sighed softly, looking down at his paws. "As you have likely guessed, my job for you has to do with that Panther you all saw fight. Her name is Tera. I... I wish to be something towards her, though I feel myself not able enough to do so." He narrowed his eyes a little bit. "I wish for us to make a few journeys for a few things. I heard of the things she enjoys while being around the tavern, but to get them requires a bit of traveling. If you still wish to help me, I will be paying you in full once we complete our journey. If not, I judge you not for leaving me."

"Our journey will begin across the sea, to where her homeland is. I wish to get her something there that will remind her if home. Food or such shall do. Then, as I have heard, there is a dessert in her lands where there is said to be the most beautiful flower the world has ever seen. That would be our next destination. Finally, in the mountains of her lands, there is said to be a sage, who can help to unlock people's true potentials. I wish to meet with this sage.... if I am to even try and be on her level, I must get stronger. Thus the reason for our journey, and for the sage."

"I would die for her," Dorcus said simply, raising his palms for a moment. "And I could never hope to match her in a fight. Those who were in the recent war have said to have seen her take on nearly the entire enemy army on her own, taking barely any damage from them, walking out nearly unscathed. As for extra coin, I will be paying for this as well. I have saved up for months on end, living on the edge so that I may do this."

"We have crossed paths multiple times, but, as you could have guessed, my nerves were broken quite easily." He sighed as he got up. "Never the less, while we are still young, I say that we get this journey underway. And if you are this reluctant, the faster you do it, the faster you get your pay." The Bard smirked as he hefted up the bags, entering into a back room of the tavern before returning. "The barkeep allows me to keep my things here, so you have no worries of losing your money. Anyway, let us be off."

"It'll be a much better surprise if we just show up one day with everything she loves, I'd think." Liza noded, standing up from her seat and standing by the monkey. "Just show us the way, sir~"

"Ah... I thought not that it would be this late in the day already. I will pay for you to have a room to yourselves, so we can travel out in the morning," Dorcus said, starting to leave the tavern as well. "At the break of dawn, we head to the docks to take a ship."

"I suppose you wouldn't be nice enough to get a cart for this trip. I can walk, but that doesn't mean I can run a marathon." The Zebra huffed, looking over to the Bard, still waiting for a meal.(edited)

The following morning, the group found themselves upon the deck of a ship, feeling it rock back and forth just a little roughly as thunder clouds roamed above them. The captain of the ship was steering diligently, making sure they never went off course. Dorcus was leaning against the rails of the ship, looking slightly sick but keeping his balance on the rocking ship. "I didn't know that there would be a storm today... Captain, is there anything in these waters that we should know about?"

"Aye, a few sea monsters have been told to scour these waters! Sunk a few ships here and there if I'm not mistaken!" The captain laughed in a gruff tone. Dorcus looked away nervously as they continued on, the storm starting as rain pounded down on the group, strokes of lightning flashing about the sea around them.

After a few minutes, the ship lurched to one side, nearly knocking them all to their rears, the sounds of splintering wood filling the air around them. Towards the bow of the ship, they saw a scaled, sharp claw rise up, smashing against the deck of the ship.

With a swift motion of her claws, her small parasol turned back into a magic staff with a rather fancily cut and encircled emerald at it's tip "It seems like we might be in for a scuffle"

The serpent of the sea rose up, scales a deep turquoise and beady red eyes glaring at those on the ship. It roared out loudly, raising its claws up. The water around the ship rose up a bit more, water nearly overtaking the deck. Dorcus was trembling a bit, a rapier in his paw. He looked towards the others getting ready and steeled himself, holding his rapier up. "I-I have to start somewhere! Let it be here!"

While the kobold dodged easily, the frog got knocked onto his back roughly, knocking the wind out of him. As he opened his mouth to breathe, water rushed into his gullet, filling him up and making him feel sluggish and waterlogged.
