- Tom walks in, notices everyone else is gone.
- <Tom> "Umm... Tessa? Where did everyone go?"
- Teresa shrugs.
- <Teresa> "I don't know."
- <Teresa> "I sort of assumed Sam would be with you."
- <Tom> "Why? I was just asking the captain some questions about Freya. I thought she'd be with you. Or at least eating dinner."
- Teresa is sort of picking at her food, and shrugs. "I guess I was wrong then."
- <Tom> "Tessa... please don't tell me you broke up with her because of what I'd said to her before."
- <Teresa> "I didn't."
- <Tom> "Well... that's good but... did you get into some kind of fight because of it? You really look kinda..."
- <Teresa> "Like I said, I wasn't the one who broke up with her."
- <Tom> "Wait, what?"
- <Tom> "... Tessa that makes it sounds like..."
- <Teresa> "It sounds like what it is."
- <Tom> "... she..."
- <Teresa> "She couldn't stand that you had a broken heart or whatever the Emissary said. You should be happy, if it's between me and you..."
- <Tom> "... she didn't break up with you. That wouldn't..."
- <Tom> "Why?!"
- Teresa shrugs.
- <Tom> "She..."
- <Tom> "I just told her I finally was feeling okay about you two being together..."
- <Tom> "and she just?"
- Teresa shrugs.
- <Tom> "That... Sam..."
- <Tom> "I told her that wasn't her fault!"
- <Teresa> "It's Sam, do you think she listened?"
- <Tom> "I was finally happy about you two being together..."
- Teresa stares down at her tray, and drops the fork on it, since she's just been pushing food around.
- <Tom> "I told her I was ready to move on."
- <Teresa> "Make's two of us, then."
- <Tom> (which part did she say that at?)
- <Teresa> (the happy part)
- <Tom> "Damn it... I'm sorry."
- <Teresa> "Not your fault."
- <Tom> "I told her that stuff in the dream world because I wanted to get it out of my system so I wouldn't just have it bottled up and I could move on."
- <Tom> "And I did, and now she goes and does this to herself..."
- <Teresa> "Well, I guess she wasn't ready."
- Teresa glares. "Right, to herself."
- Teresa collects her tray. "Excuse me. You're right about it not being your fault, but right now there's only one other person on this ship I'd like to talk to less."
- <Tom> "Tessa, wait."
- Teresa pauses.
- <Tom> "It is my fault, she ended up hurting you because of it."
- <Teresa> "Why do you people always insist on taking the blame for what someone else does?"
- <Teresa> "She made her own decision."
- <Tom> "She did. But she made one like a damn fool because she didn't understand what I told her."
- <Tom> "She loves you. and I'm pretty damn sure you love her too."
- <Teresa> "She loves me like a sister."
- <Teresa> "I want something more than that."
- <Tom> "Is that what she told you?"
- <Tom> "Did she say she only loves you like a sister?"
- <Teresa> "What, you think I just made it up?"
- <Tom> "No. But I don't believe that."
- Teresa shrugs. "Believe what you want."
- Teresa waits to see if he has anything else to say, then leaves.
- <Tom> "She loves you, Tessa. But right now she's too confused and scared of hurting everyone to admit it. She was happy to be with you."
- <Teresa> (retcon beeamu)
- Teresa shakes her head. "And so?"
- <Tom> "Now I'm going to go find her, explain to her one last time that I honestly will be happy without being with her, and try to slap her back into her senses."
- <Tom> "Now you can either come with me so you can stop me from hitting her, or you can go do what I did and go off to sulk by yourself because you feel like you don't deserve anything good."
- Teresa stares at Tom.
- <Teresa> "Who the hell do you think you are?"
- <Teresa> "You don't know me."
- <Tom> "Someone who's already had to go through this and done something really really fucking stupid because of it."
- <Teresa> "Then deal with your own problems. Don't make up new ones for me."
- <Teresa> "And if you hit Sam, I'll tear off your damn arm."
- Teresa leaves.
- Tom wants to say something, but leaves it at that and just goes off to the gym because that's pretty definitely where she is.
