- Sonic CD "Glitchless" speedruns (werster rules)
- These are the rules I'm using for "Glitchless" runs of SCD. I put glitchless in quotation marks because glitchless is impossible to define across classic sonic games, there's just way too much borderline crap. So a overrule ruleset that suits exactly what everyone wants or thinks is right on impossible to make. Instead, I'm just making my own, only for me. As such, I'm not constrained by what actually makes sense, and am instead just banning everything I want. Which is, as it turns out, basically everything. Whether I think they are glitches or not.
- There's 2 criteria for the reasoning:
- 1) The reason I'm doing these runs is I'm tiring of how broken the games are, and wanna get more gameplay out of the levels. So basically banning everything means I do more things different then the glitched levels, which is what I want.
- 2) I think about what people would want to see from a "glitchless" run, and I think they don't wanna see borderline shit. They wanna see nothing but what they think is 'intended'. So it makes sense.
- Onto the banlist:
- Going through any objects or solidarity in any way
- Zips
- Moving Peelout
- Level wrap
- Screen wrap
- Passing above any off screen ceiling (e.g. Collision Chaos 2/3, Tidal Tempest 1, Metallic Madness 2, etc) [For clarity, going above the stage's camera is ok, but NOT a ceiling, so going above something by going off screen is what is banned.]
- Jumping through the wall in Metallic Madness 2
- Phasing through loops
- Passing through solidarity during the sequence after a Time Travel
- Instant reset code
- (There might be some other stuff I've forgotten. Basically, if you think something might be banned, it is)
- --
- The non banlist:
- Any visual of audio glitch that has no impact on the gameplay (For example, an enemy having "glitchy" visuals from loading too fast)
