- Routine.
- This word held a lot of influence over the young knight, perfectly describing the going-ons in his everyday life. Having been limited to the city of Danarium; constantly patrolling the streets in hopes of activity.
- A yearning for adventure welling up in him, the past few years of his life proving to be rather uneventful, save some extraordinary events happening once in a blue moon, i.e, running into an Ice-Witch who proceed to freeze himself and his companions over. Resulting in some rather serious nerve damage.
- Raising his gloved hands to his face, his brow knitting together in frustration. It had been a year since the aforementioned incident took place, his hands were better, but, they did not serve him as they once did prior to the meeting with the Witch.
- Experiencing minor spasms, a drawback to the natural healing having taken place over the year, unable to do much in regards to wielding a simple mug, let alone a blade. He at least now could participate in such activities, making sure to monitor the time spent actually committing himself to any form of strenuous labor involving the use of his hands.
- In the distance, the Knight spots a familiar face. Uriel, the young Oscuri male he had become acquainted with, a blonde haired fellow walks beside him.
- Eyes widening in surprise for a moment, he would note the strangers rather imposing image, his arms encased in a.. metal of sorts. This sight is a peculiar one to the Knight, having never seen such a thing, he makes a note in his head to inquire about it, if given the chance to speak with the fellow at some point.
- Shifting his hand, the palm now facing outwards towards Uriel, he extends a brief wave over to the Oscuri, a brief smile painting his face, greeting the man, hoping to spark up a conversation; an eagerness to speak with him about the situation involving his weapon on his mind.
- He had still to meet the fellow known simply as.. "B".
- (Ultor)
- Walking amongst Danarium, Bastelthal's boredom had risen immensely. The travel between the base and this place was so far and wide he'd grown insanely bored ofcoming here. He'd really hoped he wouldn't have to come here much more often. He'd REALLY wanted to get back to his inventing and blacksmithing that he'd carefully been honing over the past few months to a fine edge. Though he had years of experience with both, he was just now getting very invested in the two practices.
- Uriel had tagged him along to Danarium for a multitude of reasons, but he'd explained that there was a man who wanted Bastelthal to forge a sword for him. He was a bit excited at the prospect, given he'd never before had a commission of any sort from anybody, but he'd gladly do it. Working on blades for somebody else was a practice that he'd never had the great motivation to add to his hobby. Stiffening up, the man matched Uriel's description.
- Though he hadn't in public for quite sometime, Bastelthal donned his 'B' mask for the sake of mixing things up. His breathing made a slight whistling noise through the apparatus on his chin that let oxygen in and out. He'd have to make sure the weapon he was making for such a man would have a man worth bearing it for, of course.
- Reaching his metal hand out, it clanked slightly, though quietly. "Pleasure to meet you finally, Ultor. I'm the man you're looking for, yeah?" he teased cheekily. "Hope I live up to the reputation this asshat's put me up to with you, I'd think." After getting the greetings out of the way, he crossed his arms, resting his weight on one leg. "So, what exactly is it you're looking for me to forge? Got details?"
- (Bastelthal Gelgan)
- His smile fading, replaced with a tight-lipped stare, he looks looks to Uriel for a moment, before shifting his gaze to the stranger, introduced to him as "B."
- Finally able to match a face to a name after so long, having hounded the Oscuri for well over a year about the mystery forger's whereabouts. It seemed he had finally been given some answers, along with a personal visit from the man in question.
- His eyes falling to his metallic appendages again, B's arm held out towards the Knight. He would in return extend his own hand, black glove drawn over bandages, white strips can be seen stretching out along his forearms.
- He clasps hands with the man, his grip subtle, not in reference to being lax; still displaying a firm grip on the man's hand, it would be obvious that the young Knight wished to withhold some facts about himself from the Smith.
- A smile dotting his face again, canines flashing briefly, golden hues locked onto the stranger. "The pleasure's mine, Friend." Returning greetings, he raises his arm, opting to give a little shake, as was a custom of his.
- "I have had quite a bit of time to ponder the details in the past year or so.. I'm sure I can brief you about the crucial bits with ease.. There is one question I have though..: Ores, can you gather them?" A gleam is present in the Knight's eyes for a moment, gazing at the man.
- He has high hopes for acquiring a suitable blade, in regards to this; he found himself seeking.. "exotic" materials, in order to forge the weapon. Thus leading him to not only seek a traveled smith, but a way to procure such materials, in order to craft his fantasy weapon.
- (Ultor)
- Yikes. As he'd hoped against, Ultor was also seeking some of the materials he'd want for his sword. Though it had been some time since he'd last went out searching for ores and such, he had supposed it was possible... though, quite the task, of course. He'd often went to markets in Tilandre to buy his materials, so it was a strange request to him. He rubbed his chin, tiny metal sounds resonating from the finger joints of his prosthetic.
- "Hmm... Gathering materials, eh? It's been quite some time I've actually went out to do it, if I'm being honest. It'd probably be a pretty penny as well, if I'm being honest. I never travel alone as well on these sorts of expeditions for ores, so I'll likely have to bring some of the Ebonwings along with me if you're really seeking out something special."
- His eyes darted to making contact with Ultor's, though this was obscured by the glass walls that cover his eyes inside the mask. The process of working in the ores was a simple one for him, easily. The risk it posed for him to go searching for precious materials in these lands did worry him a bit though, admittedly.
- "Would you be interested in coming along with us? It's entirely up to you, but I'd cut your costs a bit for that price as well." he said, lowering an open palm with his offer. After his reply, Bastelthal sat in silence for a moment, thinking to himself of the most important question before vocalizing it to the young man. "So, what ores are there that you seek?"
- (Bastelthal Gelgan)
- Retracting his hand, he would bring it to his face, placing his index and thumb atop his chin. Thinking on B's question.. He had spent a huge portion of his time pondering what ore would be best for his weapon.
- Seeking something light in nature, having had adversity to the bulky armaments he previously donned, and not finding the balance of most swords up to par with his standards. He sought a blade that would make use of his speed, yet not lacking in power; something he could still rely on to cut a swath of destruction through a enemy if need be.
- With this in mind, he had done researching into a multitude of ores that would most likely meet his requirements. His search allowing him to narrow his list down to a rather peculiar list of common and uncommon examples of ore.
- "Blue Mercury would be the one I hold the most interest in.. Mythril also came up in my studies, followed closely by a ore known as Blood Copper..." Listing ores in order of importance to him; Blue Mercury ranking first, an oddity in comparison to Mythril, most preferring the light material to the seemingly dangerous Blue Mercury.
- Having read up on the material, it seemed to harbored a long list of problems, in regards to exposure. Apparently noted to affect a wielder's health if around the substance enough; it came with a great risk to even suggest such a ore for a weapon.
- "These are subject to change, depending on your input; I am aware of the rarity of these ores, and if it is not within your interest to seek them, we can discuss other options forthwith." He reassures the man, not wishing to pressure him into a fool-hardy search for such a dangerous material, only listing it for the sake of bringing up all of his options.
- He does not place hope in procuring the dangerous Blue Mercury.
- (Ultor)
- Bastelthal's head visibly jolted at the mention of Blue Mercury. He stared at Ultor... gaze unmoving. While his versing in ores wasn't extremely vast, Blue Mercury was one that was mentioned constantly in the books he'd read as n "AVOID IF POSSIBLE" type of ore. He stood, arms crossed to remain stoic at the mention of it. He'd certainly not expected such a high request to him by his first commission. Letting Ultor finish, he raised one finger, looking down slightly. B's personality had surfaced this time; his logical, calculating, serious side.
- "...First. There's something I must first tell you; This is not of importance to the sword, but more for you and I. Do not seek Blue Mercury for your sword. I would hope you've brought it up out of ignorance on the subject matter, personally. It causes symptoms that are similar to a sort of madness, and is to be avoided at absolutely every cost you can. I'm afraid I must refuse the offer of Blue Mercury. It's not just for my own safety, but for yours as well. I recommend against you seeking another blacksmith if you truly want a sword of blue mercury - any smith worth their salt will avoid that poisonous substance at every cost." B's second finger, his index finger, was now raised.
- "...Second. There's something I must tell you second; Mithril is not a substance that is extremely hard to come across. My supplier in Tilandre has a supply of it, though I must warn you, it's going to cost you if you'd like a sword with it. It's a pricey material, given the amount of time it takes to acquire, given it's not exactly ultra-rare, nor a common type."
- "....Third. There's something I must tell you third; Blood Copper as the main element is out of the question, if you're seeking a quality sword. Your best shot is Mithril. It's already within my reach to obtain, and it's a reliable material. You will, however, have to pick a material to accompany this if you'd like me to forge a sword of it. Mithril is a substance I'm willing to work with." he said.
- Turning around, Bastelthal looked back at Uriel. "Send me a letter, or meet at the Ebonwings base once you've decided. It's north of the swamp. I'd like to give you time to think about this. It's a long travel back, so those are your two options, I'm sorry. The travels here are long and weary." Remembering his manners, he turned back to Ultor, raising his metal hand again. "It's been a pleasure meeting you, Ultor."
- (Bastelthal Gelgan)
- B's words do not go unheeded, although, they are not necessary. The knight was fully aware of his rather insane proclamation; word of the ore's poison having been knowledge that was afforded to him.
- He inclines his head, giving a nod to the man at the brief run down on the ore. As he moves onto discuss mythril, sharing that he would be able to acquire this material with little strain, the cost being high in return of course. Due in fact to it's known rarity, despite the sudden ease of requirement as of late.
- Covering the Blood Copper next, apparently this one being unsuitable for forging on it's own, not listed as a worthwhile endeavors in terms of utilizing it as a main component. He again, presses Mythril forward, only suggesting that the Knight find another material to pair with it.
- Lowering his fingers from his chin, crossing his arms about his chest, strips of banadage present as his cloak slides partially out of the way, allowing one to view within. "There isn't much need for that.." He pauses for a moment as the man turns away, his mind having already been made up; he had more than enough time to study the ores and choose from them. The refusal of Blue Mercury was well within his expectations at the time being, preparing accordingly in regards to this.
- "Mythril was to be expected of the three, this ore would work as the main component. As for the second material needed in light of choosing mythril.. I would like to request it would Blood Copper be used, if, this is acceptable." His ideal sword was one that he had spent a long time pondering.. Working out the kinks as best as he could, he had decided long ago on the materials to be used to forge his weapon.
- Reading up on the two ores: He was accepting of Mythril's light make up, the image of his swift weapon beginning to take shape as he read more into it, the talk of it's applications via magick only furthering his desire to acquire it.
- Supplemented by his findings on Blood Copper, finding that this material would fit well with Mythril; providing a sturdy base, gifting him with the power he required, without heeding the make up of the aforementioned ore, being in possession of it's own magick aiding properties, actually proving to be a suitable conductor of arcane energies.
