Vack Destroying Vegeta

I want to apologize to everyone because the current issues we had with Vegeta aka Anubis (because he choose to reveal his identity already) I should have saw coming. To give some back ground this is a message I sent to him on Dec 4,2016

I want to first say when you are in Good Vegeta mode you are a fantastic guy. You play an awesome necro and you have a good knowledge of the lore of the world of EQ. And you can be super helpful to those around you.



That being said we need to address some concerns both on your part and on our part. After speaking with shadow he brought to us a couple of your concerns which we want to address and we need to address some of our concerns.



Your Concerns * (This is just a beginning of a list – We will follow up with some conversation and address any other concerns.)



• Main Tanking – After speaking with Noonian he had indicated he would get you up so you could main tank more mobs and not only when Noonian died etc. And you feel like you are not being given that chance.



A) This is 100 percent true that Noonian wants to get you to be able to main tank more. We as a GUILD want you to have a much more active role. Here are the main reasons why you are not being given the chance.



1) There is one major reason we don’t have you Main tank. And that is you do not listen. When you are given instruction you do not do it as you are asked. You need to learn to follow in order to learn to lead. Until you can follow directions you will not be asked to main tank. Once we learn that you can be trusted to do what is asked of you this role will be opened up to you.



2) Trust your healers – I am not sure if you realize this but you panic and you look at your health bar. So when you are tanking you yell at the healers to heal you. The healers HATE that. All of them do nothing but stare at the main tanks health bar and we are constantly calling out for spots. And once you die, because you will, you also take those deaths graciously. You also complain when you die. That also makes it so the healers do not like you to main tank. So ignore your health bar and compliment your healers both when you live and when you die.



3) You are selfish – You only want to go on raids that benefit you. You may not realize you are doing this but when you want some gear for your toons you try and push for those raids so much that the rest of the guild notices and makes comments about it and we get a lot of complaints about this behavior from you. But when you feel like the raids would not benefit what you toons may need you do not do the work or want to help. A Main Tank need to be unselfish and help the Guild achieve more. Until you are willing to be unselfish and serve others we won’t be asking you to Main Tank.



• Leadership – (And Not listening to your suggestions)



A) There are two components to this one.



1) This one again comes to down to learning to follow to lead. In order to be part of the leadership team you must learn to follow. Whether you know this or not you have an know it all attitude. In order to be listened to you need to learn to listen. You may have an opinion on something but that doesn’t mean it needs to be shared.



2) Stop being a jerk to other players. You may think you are doing in jest but it doesn’t come across that way. And it makes other players resent you to the point of asking that you get removed from the guild via our asshat rule. Until you learn to be gracious and kind to other player leadership will be denied to you.



Our Concerns – And moving forward



Let me preface with this – I think that essentially you are a really good guy. (I could be wrong) But that is the reason we have kept you in the guild despite the complaints we get about you internally and externally.



• No asshat rule – We have a no asshat rule to prevent strife in the guild.



A) You definitely are an asshat from time to time. But you can be a good guy as well. It seems to me that it is an insecurity issue. And I hope we can have an open dialogue about it. I think you are an asshat because you are easily offended because of insecurities. This REALLY needs to change about you. If you cannot then this guild is not for you. You are burning your bridges and I am sure you have been here before where people did not want to group with you. And you may blame others but it is really you. You are the one causing this, I know this may be hard to hear. But you have the potential to be a great guy or an ass. Start choosing the great guy side and in all aspects of your life.



• Exploits – If you want to investigate things of this server please do so on your own time and not at a raid. We want nothing at all to do with anything that takes an advantage of the mechanics of this server to our advantage. They have banned guild on here because of it and just want nothing from it.



• Negative Attitude – You have a really negative attitude that spills out when leadership is not around.



A) You may not realize the number of complaints we get about your attitude. But we get a lot of them internally and externally. This needs to change or we can part ways. Again I think you could be a great asset and that is why we have kept you as long as we have. But you are at the end of your rope.



Veg I think you could be a great asset. The question is can you let go of whatever insecurities or resentment you have boiling up and be that great asset. Because if you can’t we need to part ways. I am done defending you and I am done giving you any more chances. Shadow and I would like to spend some time and talk with you about your concerns and our concerns and moving forward. When is a good time for you?



This is not a part ways conversation unless you want it to be. I want to find a way to keep you and make you a bigger part of this guild. But can you make the personality changes necessary to do so? That is what we need to discuss.

Now as you can see as of last year there was some real concerns about whether we where going to have him stay a part of the guild. After some conversations I thought he had turned a corner with his behavior. So when we were having issues with P2002 and the conversations about spinning up a QOL server came into being he had somehow found out about it and offered to help.


He had some neat ideas and seemed very eager to help and assured me that he wanted to be part of the team. And he would take direction and the team as a whole would make decisions for the server. He indicated he was super excited about being part of the team. I will admit I and the rest of the team had some reservations and he won me over with his promises of wanting to be part of a greater team. So I unfortunately as it turns off talked on his behalf to join the team.


Once Odin had spun up the server Vegeta wanted access to “Help” and Odin gave him access to EOC (Interfaces with the database and server rules) to help with all the things that begin with the server. During this start up phase we asked him to work on getting the server in working order. He was given tasks such as reducing the spawns of Fables, spawn timers for raid mobs, reducing the augments spawn rates and a few other tasks.


He decided to work on other items instead of those he was asked to help with and starting breaking zone connects and just deleting things instead of reducing their spawn rates to zero so they would be easy to reintroduce. And in addition to this he refused to document his work in our Discord channel or let anyone know what he was working on. The one thing he did work on that was good was the charm that got around the massive food consumption (which is implemented properly now). So we created Trello and a Change log and made it mandatory for the server staff to log their changes. He refused to do this saying it was like ‘work” and we said yes it is work. Creating a server is hard work. We kept trying to work with him and he even asked us to bring on an acquaintance of his to “help” with the server and said he was code guru and he could help with the SQL side of the server. Which he never did any code for us in retrospect.


His friend was allowed to join with the thought that more hands make light work. Unfortunately that is when it really started going down hill. This is when Vegeta gave himself 29 million platinum and his “friend” gave himself several very powerful items. When I confronted him he assured me it was for testing purposes. Of course I responded what requires 29 million plat? We then made sure all GM’s knew that any items that where granted needed to be destroyed. And the items where never destroyed. And in addition to that changes were made to certain warrior items to make them much more powerful and we had to correct them once they where pointed out.


And raid mobs with a full raid there would get flagged #invunerable on and so we then started logging all raid commands. Then after raid encounters where tweaked to make sure they where good they would get changed mid fight or they would get flagged as unsnareable or would be made to flurry 90% of the time, or would be made to summon at 100%. Because they needed to be made “more challenging” in Vegeta’s mind causing a raid force to wipe. And then he would bring his GM character to “save” the day after causing the issue in the first place. Of course none of these changes where being tracked because he refused to follow protocol. And then he started just breaking spells to “balance” things in his mind. And after I had to personally spend 3-4 hours a night fixing all these “helps” our team was at their wits end. In fact once we logged the hours spent fixing his help we found we would have been a week further ahead on the server progress.


The final straw was that he shared the password to the server and we found out about it. Once we went back and examined the data there was issues with the database and we had to go back to a known good save to make sure our data was good clean data and not the mess that we found. We did not realize the extent of the bad data until we started pulling some database queries and found many things had been altered.


We thought we could respin up the server quickly but found it was a much bigger issue because of what had been done to the data, we went back to a clean copy of the code and reapplied all the documented changes in our Github repository. We removed access to the database to Vegeta and his “friend” because we simply could not trust them to be part of the team.


So I take full responsibility for this. I should have known with my previous experience with him. I thought with his personal life going better maybe he had taken a better turn.


So we will continue to go forward and make this a great server. If you choose to come with us I look forward to spending time with you playing a game we love. If you don’t choose to come I understand. I should have been wiser, but I am the eternal optimist and I tend to see the best in people.


And again I am sorry for the issues but this was a much needed step so we could move forward.
