  3. One day it might be nice to localize Whirligig World, and a lot of languages have grammatical gender, so I'll go ahead and canonize the grammatical gender of the planets now. Gender will either be represented by the gender of the primary namesake (Mandrake and Rutherford are male and so are their planets, Gememma is female and so is her star), or semi-arbitrarily based upon how the word sounds. (Tyepolbynar just kinda sounds male to me, for example.)
