bedroom: bed to the right of the desk, chair in front of the desk, curtain on the left of the window, ball under the desk, whiteboard over the desk / above the desk, lamp next to the speaker
office: plant against the wall, armchair in front of the desk, desk chair behind the desk, diplomas next to the portrait, pitcher between the glasses, rug under the armchair, lamp on the right of the desk

in front of / in back of
before / behind

Notice the difference between “picture” and “pitcher”.
