NO LEVELS EARLY LOTAD FAQ

1] What is a LOTAD?

LOTAD stands for Low Optimised Tool-Assisted Demonstration. Simply put, it's a less optimised TAS which doesn't obey all the conventional rules of a TAS (Primarily the '1 input file' rule and the 'no RAM edits' rule).
The purpose of this LOTAD is to show what a Tool-Assisted run of 'No Levels Early' would look like, with a variety of TAS tricks, but without spending years on optimisations.

2] Does this use Clean Cart rules?

No. For No Levels Early, it makes more sense for it to be dirty SRAM to have the main menu features unlocked. It gets rid of several minutes of cutscenes and waiting, as well as keeping it in-line with RTA runs.
It also makes it more entertaining :)

3] What is going on when the screen goes black & white?

By performing certain actions when entering a tag barrel (most notably letting go of Z to exit the crouch animation 2 frames before entering), you gain control of the kong whilst also having control of the tag barrel. This is called Tag Barrel Storage (Often abbreviated to 'TBS'), and it  allows for a whole host of glitches. (Quicker tags, telegrabbing, wrong kong BP collection and more!)
When TBS is active, unless we play our instrument, the screen is pitch black. To make sure that you can see what is going on, we turn on a camera hack (Shoutouts to Isotarge) that makes us see what is happening in-game.
The black & white effect is just an editing filter and isn't caused by the camera hack.

4] What does No Levels Early entail?

'No Levels Early' means that you beat the game as fast as you can, but under a few conditions:
- You cannot enter a level without clearing the B-Locker first
- You cannot enter a level's lobby area without turning in the appropriate keys into K-Lumsy
- You must defeat all bosses (Army Dillo 1&2, Dogadon 1&2, Mad Jack, Pufftoss, Kut Out, K. Rool)
- No GB Duping
Whilst this is a LOTAD, I tried to remain as uncontroversial as possible with these definitions (especially the first definition).
