- 1. Walk to the kitchen.
- 2. Locate the counter.
- 3. Place both hands on the edge of the counter to confirm you’ve found it.
- 4. Look for the loaf of bread on the counter.
- 5. If the bread is not visible, open the nearest cabinet and look for a loaf of bread.
- 6. When the loaf of bread is found, place it on the counter in front of you.
- 7. Grasp the top of the bread bag with one hand.
- 8. Twist the plastic tie counterclockwise until it loosens.
- 9. Remove the tie and set it on the counter to your right.
- 10. Open the top of the bag.
- 11. Reach one hand inside and grasp one slice of bread by the edge.
- 12. Gently pull it out of the bag without tearing it.
- 13. Place that slice of bread flat on the counter in front of you, approximately one foot from the edge.
- 14. Reach back into the bag and grab another slice in the same way.
- 15. Place the second slice of bread flat on the counter, directly to the right of the first slice, leaving about two inches of space between them.
- 16. Look for the jar of peanut butter.
- 17. If it is not on the counter, open the cabinet where food items are stored and search until you find a jar labeled “peanut butter.”
- 18. Place the jar on the counter to the left of the bread slices.
- 19. Twist the peanut butter jar lid counterclockwise until it comes off.
- 20. Set the lid on the counter upside-down, next to the jar.
- 21. Locate a butter knife in the utensil drawer.
- 22. Pull the drawer open using the handle.
- 23. Select a butter knife and remove it from the drawer.
- 24. Close the drawer completely.
- 25. Hold the knife by its handle in your dominant hand.
- 26. Insert the blade of the knife into the jar of peanut butter until about one inch of the blade is covered.
- 27. Pull the knife straight up out of the jar.
- 28. Move the knife over to the left slice of bread.
- 29. Starting at the top-left corner of the slice, spread the peanut butter evenly across the surface using smooth, back-and-forth motions.
- 30. Continue spreading until the entire surface of that slice is covered in a thin, even layer of peanut butter.
- 31. Wipe the knife on the edge of the jar to remove any excess peanut butter.
- 32. Find the jar of jelly.
- 33. If not visible, check the refrigerator door shelves for a jar labeled “grape jelly” or “strawberry jam.”
- 34. Remove the jar from the refrigerator and set it on the counter to the right of the peanut butter.
- 35. Twist the jelly jar lid counterclockwise until it comes off.
- 36. Set the lid upside-down on the counter next to the jar.
- 37. Use the same knife (or clean it first, if needed).
- 38. Insert the knife into the jelly jar until it touches the jelly.
- 39. Scoop a small amount of jelly onto the knife.
- 40. Move the knife over to the right slice of bread.
- 41. Place the jelly onto the center of the slice.
- 42. Spread the jelly across the surface using the same back-and-forth motion until evenly covered.
- 43. Pick up the left slice of bread by placing one hand under it.
- 44. Lift it carefully.
- 45. Align it above the right slice so the peanut butter side faces downward.
- 46. Lower the slice until it rests directly on top of the jelly-covered slice.
- 47. Press lightly on the top slice to help the two stick together.
- 48. Pick up the sandwich with both hands.
- 49. (Optional) If a smaller sandwich is desired, place it on a cutting board and use a knife to cut it diagonally from corner to corner.
- 50. Enjoy your sandwich.
