  1. No access to my websites
  2. Hi, I have the most bizarre problem that I have encountered in over 10 years of being a Website developer. I have a number of websites which I built and maintain hosted with a UK hosting company. They have always provided exceptional service and trouble free hosting. On the few occasions that I have required assistance and opened a support ticket their assistance and responses have been second to none. So here is my problem......

  14. I can't access any of my websites on my local machines i.e. PC, Laptop and Tablet however I can browse normally on every other website on the internet. I have disabled all Firewalls and Anti Virus programs to eliminate them and I have installed a new Sky Router (the latest) and disabled Parental Controls and still no joy. I can take my Laptop to my friends house and access all of my sites no problem after logging onto their Broadband and I have even connected to another friends computer using Team Viewer and managed to access them all that way using my local PC !! My hosting company have been looking into it for a number of days now and so far have not provided a solution or suggested a cause. Sometimes I can access the sites using my devices after an overnight period when there has been no activity by me however this will last for less than 10 minutes before they are inaccessible again. Has anyone ever seen this before or have any clue as to why it is happening. Any help would be appreciated.
  15.
  16. P.S. I have tried at least 5 different Browsers on each machine with no joy including Edge, Firefox, IE, Chrome and Safari and yes I have flushed the Cache.
  17. Sounds like your IP is blocked - however if you changed your router then your IP should have changed
  18.
  19. Did your host ask for your IP address ? Have you tried using your phone to access the sites - with wireless disabled so you use your mobile's 3/4G connection? Does this work? If so try it with wireless enabled this will let you it is your IP address/range which is blocked by your hosts servers.
  20.
  21. Check with your host to see if your IP has been blocked.
  22. Either that, or something on your devices ...messes up things
  23. Host with GOZEN Host
  24. ...everything stored in NVMe
  25. Thanks. The sites are accessible using my mobile phone on both 4G and my home wireless broadband connection
  26. Have you disabled all browser extensions?
  27. As thery are accessible on your 4G it's almost certainly the IP is blocked. There could be a process one one of the websites that has caused the block, and your host shoudl be able to confirm this. If you have access to cPanel you can also check the IP ban center to see if it's listed.
  28. OP said that he can access on his phone using the home wireless connection as well - so IP is unlikely to be blocked
  29. Thanks again for the replies. I have asked my Hosting company if I am blocked but I haven't received a reply yet. I have disabled extensions on Firefox and Chrome with no effect. I do have access to the Plesk Control Panel and I will see if any of the sites are blocked.
  30. OP said that he can access on his phone using the home wireless connection as well - so IP is unlikely to be blocked
  31. Ah yes, I missed the bit about home wireless. Thanks Inventive Hosting.
  32. Thanks. The sites are accessible using my mobile phone on both 4G and my home wireless broadband connection
  33. To sum it up:
  34.
  35. Your computer from other ISP and IPs (friends house) works.
  36. Your mobile from your ISP and using 4G works.
  37.
  38. Was your mobile network (3G, 4G - "mobile data") disabled when testing using your home wireless with the mobile phone?
  39. If not, try disabling it first and then see how it goes.
  40.
  41. If it still works: it's probably not a simple IP block - since then your mobile wouldn't work either using your wireless home network (also, it is hard to believe that any hosting provider wouldn't check for blocked IPs when one reports a connection problem as you've described).

  53. Have you tried using a friend's laptop from your home network?
  54. If that does work - it is most probably (not certainly) something related to your particular laptop (operating system, or browser problems I'd guess). At least as far as I can think - hopefully someone else will know exactly what could cause the described problem scenario.
  55. Mostly harmless?
  56. Also try a different user on your laptop - create a new user, so the browser settings will then be default.
  57. Thanks bikegremlin, I can see the websites using my Mobile on 4G and Home Broadband but I've just discovered that I can't access the Admin area of my Wordpress websites when on the Home Broadband but if I disable the Broadband on the phone and try to access the admin area using 4G it works.
  58. Do you have any Wordpress security plugins enabled?
  59.
  60. Login with your phones connection and disable any security plugins which maybe installed
  61. Thanks Inventive Hosting, I have a testing Wordpress site that I use and I have just disabled all of the Plugins it's accessible using 4G but not when the phone is on the Home Broadband. I've also just opened another hosting account with a different company and set up a new Wordpress site with a new domain name and it is totally accessible using all devices including the Admin Area.
  62. Sounds like you may have a security plugin that added your IP to .htaccess file on your accounts. Are all accounts under one Plesk account or do they each have their own? Since you can access the Plesk panel, you should be able to view and edit the .htaccess file. Look for a line that says DENY FROM xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is your IP address.

  67. Thanks madRoosterTony, I have contacted my Hosting company and asked them to check this as although I do have access to the Plesk panel and they are all under one account it doesn't appear that I have access to the .htaccess file.
  68. I would suggest disabling cPHulk Brute Force Protection , same happened with my vps few days ago, but now fixed
  69. When you try to access wordpress admin is it just a white page or do you get an actual error message?
  70. Thanks madRoosterTony, I have contacted my Hosting company and asked them to check this as although I do have access to the Plesk panel and they are all under one account it doesn't appear that I have access to the .htaccess file.
  71. Im not sure about Plesk, but in cPanel there is an option in the Online File manager that enables the viewing of "." files. Without this on, you can not view .htaccess files. Hopefully the hosting company will help.

  76. The hosting company should be able to help with this. They can check server logs which will clearly show what is causing the problem. It sounds like they do not know how to check the problem, at least not the techs you are working with on the issue anyway.

  79. Thanks ankitpiyush,RiddimHost, madRoosterTony I've no idea what cPHulk Brute Force Protection is but I will mention it to my Host (I might wait a day or so as I have sent a few messages via the Support Ticket now and they haven't replied). When I access all of my websites I get a 'Can't Reach This Page' message. I can access individual .htaccess files for individual sites but I was hoping that there would be an account .htaccess file that I could access but I don't know if that exists and I can't see it in File Manager. I appreciate everyones help and my head is buzzing. I have now spent the best part of a week trying to sort this out.
  80. If you can access your site via a proxy like https://kproxy.com but not directly from your IP then there is definitely a block/routing issue between your home broadband and the server hosting your site(s). Again, the provider has access to the server and should be able to find what is causing it.
  81.
  82. For example, have they tried pinging your home IP from within the server? If they can ping your IP then that could indicate that the server is not blocking you but a custom block in your script is blocking your home IP or your own firewall/security software at home could be blocking the connection to the server where your site(s) are hosted.

  84. Seems to me, you are overwhelmed with the issues and as a result, couldn't look at/describe it clearly. Because some of the symptoms are contradictory, but possible.

  89. This suggests that your home IP is not blocked by the server firewall.
  90.
  91. Sometimes I can access the sites using my devices after an overnight period when there has been no activity by me however this will last for less than 10 minutes before they are inaccessible again.
  92. This suggests something is interfering and getting your IP blocked by the server firewall.

  95. This suggests that your home IP is not blocked by the server firewall. But it might be blocked by something else preventing you access the WP admin area.

  100.
  101.
  102. I am assuming that the Plesk you are accessing is installed on the same server your websites are hosted on. If so, try all of the following, one at a time and in order:
  103.
  104. 1. Turn off all the devices that access internet.
  105.
  106. 2. Borrow a friend's laptop and try to access your websites using your home network and wifi. If you can, the issue might be on one of your devices.
  107.
  108. 3. Turn one of your devices on. Try to use the device that is on for 2-4 hours and see if you get blocked from accessing your website. If you get blocked, something on your device is interfering. Shut down any email client (eg. Outlook), FTP software, SSH clients and antivirus. Restart your computer. Check in the Windows services to see if any of them are running. Get expert help if needed. Once you are sure nothing is running, ask your provider to unblock the IP and check again. Repeat this for all the devices. If this does not solve your issue, try step 4.
  109.
  110. 4. If you are using Windows, check for any entry for your server IP/domain/website domain in the hosts file on your computer. It is possible that you've messed up the host file while developing/testing something. Delete it, restart your computer. Check the hosts file again if it is clean. Get expert help if needed. Check if you can access the sites, if not, try step 5.
  111.
  112. 5. Disable all plugins and URL re-write (permalinks) temporarily on all of the websites regrdless they are WordPress or not.
  113.
  114. 6. Rename all the .htaccess files in your hosting account. Sometimes, you will find more than one .htaccess file for a single site due to mismanaging the files. Find and rename all the files. Check if you can access the sites, if not, try step 7.
  115.
  116. 7. Sometimes your host may need to scan the server logs manually to identify why you are getting blocked. It is an exhaustive task. Ask them politely to do this for you. If they find something, this should give you a hint on where to look into.
  117.
  118. 8. Replace your home router and try the steps again.
  119.
  120. Hope this helps.

  124. Thank you for your suggestion, I can access the sites using kpproxy. I saw them do exactly that yesterday when they connected to my PC using Team Viewer so I assume they will be acting on that information.

  148. Thank you for your comprehensive reply. You are right when you say that I may be overwhelmed. I am primarily a website designer although I have setup quite a few basic networks in the past. This appears to be way out of my league and is not helped by the fact that when I look at the problem it doesn't make any sense. Anyway I will act upon your recommendations and see if it can be resolved. Once again thank you very much.
