In seconds Dante had his nose back. He faked a swing and when Vergil tried to block, caught the sword in his jitte’s hook and returned the favour with a thundering headbutt. While Vergil’s face was still caved in he swept him off his feet with a low kick and planted a boot atop his chest.

“You know I looked for you. Mom and I both did.”

“But you gave up.” Vergil glowered up at him. He drew his blade suddenly through the air beside him. Vergil rolled out from under Dante through the cut in space and had his sword rammed between his ribs before he knew what was happening.
