R+7 Seeded Competition

The R+7 Seeded Competition

Hello Binding of Isaac players,

I'm holding a new Binding of Isaac competition - it is unlike anything that has been done in the past (to my knowledge). It is a mix of both strategy and execution - a 7 character seeded speedrun. Whoever wins will be able to call themselves one of the best Isaac players in the world.



The Basic Details
-----------------

- 7 seeds were pre-selected at random:
  - 4PME M424

- 7 characters were pre-selected at random:
  - Isaac
  - Magdalene
  - Lazarus
  - Eden
  - The Lost
  - Apollyon
  - The Forgotten
- Players will use the custom challenge included in the Racing+ mod called "Change Char Order" to assign a character to each of the 7 seeds.
- Players will use the custom challenge included in the Racing+ mod called "R+7 Seeded (Q4 2018)" to play all 7 seeds in a row without going back to the menu. Included in the challenge is a timer.
- The competition will last until January 1st, 2019.
- Whoever gets the lowest time at the end of the competition wins!
- Players must PM me on Discord in order to sign up. (Zamiel#8743)
- When submitting a time, players must have video proof of their gameplay via Twitch, Youtube, etc.



Prize Pool

1st place - $100
2nd place - $50
3rd place - $25



What makes this different from a "normal" speedrun?
---------------------------------------------------

- Historically, most speedruns have been "unseeded", which means that the players typically reset over and over until they find a good item in the Basement 1 starting room. And then, they go on to play a seed that is completely random and that they have no prior-knowledge about.
- This competition is about playing a specific seed as fast as possible. If the player resets, they will just go back to the same seed.
- Players will have time to "explore" the seed beforehand and plan out their exact strategy. Many different strategies are possible and part of the fun is "mapping out" each seed!
- To win the competition, not only will you have to be the player who is the best at execution and movement, but also the player who can come up with the best strategies.
- Do not upload your video evidence until the competition is concluded! Every player should keep their strategies secret until the competition is over. We don't want players to snipe strategies from each other - everyone should come up with their own strategies.
- The 4 top videos will be unveiled live on my Twitch channel in a special broadcasted event that reveals the winner. More information on this will be available later.



Additional Info
---------------

- All characters start with The Mind in addition to their other items. (This is a quality of life change to avoid having to refer to your notes as you play through each seed.)
- Communication between players will happen in the Isaac Speedrunning Discord in the "#r7-seeded-discussion" channel: https://discord.gg/JzbhWQb
- Players must agree to post their best times in the Discord (but not the video) so that the rest of us can keep track of which teams we still need to beat.
- Players must agree to not watch each other's Twitch streams if someone happens to be streaming R+7 Seeded attempts.
