  1. **Grand Melee IV: Return of the Kings**
  2.
  3. Welcome back again to whatever this is, since everybody else thinking about doing one of these died, looks like I'm back! This also is kinda the spiritual successor to the GM Championships, but not quite as limited as the previous event back on the forums. Here's the rules this time:
  4.
  5. **Grand Melee Info:**
  6. **Rules**
  7. -Legendary Pokemon are the name of the game here, and are the only Pokemon allowed in this GM. You may use your own Legendary Pokemon, however no signatures will be allowed, though Hidden Powers and held items are permitted. You may also use a Rental Pokemon from the list below, who, as you will probably notice, are all legendary Pokemon.
  8. -This GM is cooperative as opposed to competitive, and you all will be playing together to fend off waves of incoming enemy Pokemon, controlled by me. There will be 10 waves in total, with the GM lasting for a set 30 rounds.
  9. -I will be acting as the referee for the GM, and a strict 24 hour deadline for submission of orders will be enforced, and not sending movement or attacks will have the Pokemon play passively and attempt to dodge as necessary, though more than likely, you just get demolished. Missing 3 deadlines will have you disqualified.
  10. -Due to the format at play here, the GM will be done in a 9/12 Health/Energy scale, so you have a bit more resources to work with than usual.
  11. -Everyone will be able to sign up who wants to and participate with no limits to participants! Yes, I am still going to bring myself an early death.
  12. -Weather moves will be usable, as the arena is considered outdoors. Each Pokemon will only get to use a single Room or Terrain attack, and a single use of Gravity. Gravity, Room, and Terrain moves will be most potent within a 20 foot radius around the player and a weakened effect out an additional 10 feet, so 30 feet of coverage in total. These will be static, and remain where initially placed as opposed to staying around the user.
  13. -Magic Room can be easily seen into and have attacks fired into and out of, with the room immediately tapering off into the regular terrain at its edge.
  14. -Each wave of Pokemon that you survive will net you .5 KOs each. People who survive longer will also net special bonuses upon the GM's completion, depending on how few/many people make it to what points in the event.
  15.
  16. **Info on Rental Pokemon**
  17. So, this GM is basically your chance to try out whatever legendary Pokemon you've been itching to see in action. Every legendary Pokemon is available to rent, with a couple restrictions. For legendary Pokemon that are in the L8 category, they are not completely open to the participants, and the system is as follows. For the holy trinity of this tier, being Mew, Mewtwo, and Arceus, there will be a raffle to see which participant gets which of these Pokemon. To enter, you simply have to either post in this channel that you would like to be entered into the raffle, or DM me with the same, and also give me an idea if you'd prefer one of the Pokemon in particular or are fine with any of the three. I would also ask that those entering into the raffle supply me with a backup choice, in the event that you do not get selected and as such I can more quickly move into getting things underway. The rest of the L8 Pokemon is where the GM Championships aspect comes into this event, and those who placed in the top 4 of the previous 3 GMs (though Volcano!M I'll be taking top 5 since I was in the top 4 in that event) will be able to select from the remaining L8 legendaries. You do not *have* to choose from these Pokemon, and can obviously choose whatever you would like, but the option is available to you. If enough of you turn this offer down, I may also open the choice to people within the top 8s of these events as well, but we'll see what happens. For now, the list of users who can select from the non-busted L8 choices:
  18.
  19. Chiko, Crys, Sparkbeat, Jeri, BaKamen, Toy, Apollo/Firefin, Lanturn
  20.
  21. For the rest of you, you are free to choose from the L7 legendaries and below at your leisure, with no restrictions based on if someone else has chosen a legendary already or anything of the sort. The list of legendaries is available in #legend-match-queue for reference.
  22.
  23. **Basic Info**
  24. Trainers will see/hear whatever your Pokemon sees/hears via a super dooper indestructible headset. This will allow you to see/hear what it sees/hears, as well as issue orders. Trainers will be provided with information in their personal reffings indicating what their Pokemon knows to be directly around them, while overall maps will be publicly available.
  25. The casters of the event will be casting from a platform above the arena. Their casters booth is a large room floating in the air, inaccessible to participants but you can trade rude gestures with them if you wish. They will provide reffing coverage based on what they can see down below. This is what everyone will see each round and will be referred to as the "general reffing". Each trainer will also receive a personalized reffing (with much less detail if there is not much happening) to say what they see and hear, etc.
  26. Our "at the scene" correspondents this time will be returning commentators Zarbi the Xatu and Vin the Lunatone. Both will simply observe, and use defensive techniques to prevent being hit if needed. Zarbi will typically stick to larger fights, while Vin will be following different Pokemon every now and again so everyone can see a bit of the little things people are doing and their surroundings.
  27.
  28. **Signing Up**
  29. As mentioned earlier, any number of people may sign up to participate. Signups will close on DATE, and because streams are a GM tradition, I will do an RNG stream DAY afternoon (assuming I don't get scheduled for work hahaha 40 hour weeks are killing me) which will be to determine the winners of the raffle, as well as allow a few participants to select their starting positions. The players who get to choose their starting position can DM/PM me anytime prior to the start of the GM, at which point if they haven't chosen a position will be RNG'd anyways.
  30. After you signup in the thread, please send me DM sometime in before DATE telling me of either the Pokemon you have selected from your own party or informing me which rental Pokemon you selected.
  31.
  32. So now, let's get into more of the distinguishing factors of this GM:
  33. **The Arena**
  34.
  35. Welcome to the Orre Colosseum!
  36.
  37. Like a normal, sane GM, overall maps will be provided in the general reffings, and because I don't hate myself as much as I used to, personal maps will be basically small sections of the general map, if anything. The Colosseum is out in the middle of the desert, and as such the climate is a bit warmer here, but not enough to say, boost Fire-type attacks on its own or anything. Plenty of sand, boulders, and the like are available throughout the arena, and the colosseum is open-roofed, allowing fliers and levitators to go wherever they please. The main flooring of the colosseum, the benches, and the walls are all carved stone, making them difficult to alter outside of by the most powerful Pokemon, which many of you probably will be. However, given many of the approaching Pokemon will be coming from off the map towards the center, it may be best to leave whatever walls and defenses you can intact.
  38.
  39. As I mentioned previously, the event will go for 30 rounds, or until there's no players remaining. Starting position will primarily be randomized, though a lucky 25% of the players will get to choose their starting position, which will be RNG'd during the livestream for the raffle as well. Movement will be about 60 feet per round, if dedicated solely to movement, and around 30 feet if not. No other real gimmicks in terms of design this time, just a no-holds barred fight to the death with a bunch of NPCs rather than one another. Teamwork makes the dream work!
  40.
  41. **The Schedule**
  42. DATE - Livestream Lottery (probably around 2-3 PM PST)
  43. DATE - Deadline for Entries
  44. DATE - Deadline for submissions for those picking starting locations, and Pokemon selections.
  45. DATE - Introductory reffing, locations given with surrounding detail, etc. All private reffings after this will be lacking in detail if there is nothing happening.
  46. DATE and onwards - All orders must be sent to me by 9 PM PST. That will be the deadline every day. I will try my absolute best to have the reffing that night before I go to sleep. If something goes wrong and/or I get preoccupied, I will post and say there's a delay and ref ASAP. That will be the only time there isn't a deadline the next day. Otherwise, every 9 PM PST will be the deadline, regardless of when at night the round was reffed. If you cannot do this, then please do not sign up.
  47. To continue to quote Sniz from time immemorial, due to the nature of this massive undertaking, I will not be able to re-ref anything. I'm sorry if this is going to screw someone over, as mistakes do happen but...barring HP/energy mistakes or huuuuge errors, changing how a round was reffed will take as long as doing an entire round. It's not just a matter of editing my general round reffing, but I'd have to look up who was involved and send changed DMs to people. It won't be easy so I want to avoid it, and if small mistakes were made then I apologize.
  48.
  49. Please take any questions to the GM Time Out channel. For the time being this channel will just be for posting that you want to join. That is it for now.
  50.
  51. Remember for your signups that you post in channel that you want to sign up, and then that you DM with your Pokemon/rental choice and Hidden Power/item, as well as if you want to enter the raffle. After the stream, lucky location-pickers send me your choices as well.
  52.
  53. Have fun and good luck!
