  1. Homestuck Class Guide: Thieves
  2.
  3. Thief: One who Steals with (Aspect) or Steals (Aspect)
  4.
  5. Thieves have good intentions, weak morals and are very egocentric. They have natural confidence with their aspect, but hide insecurities and hate being seen as weak. Their challenge is to let others take a turn for once.
  6.
  7. Struggling Example: Meenah Peixes, Thief of Life
  8.
  9. LIFE: Growth, Plants, Animals, Food, Youth, Energy, Surpass Limits and Restrictions, Break Rules, Sacrifice Others, Reckless, Temptation, Optimism, Luxury, Increase, Activity, Options
  10.
  11. Meenah at first would seem pretty much like a failed example of a Thief. She pretty much engineered her entire session, ad when the scratch happened, killed everybody without a second thought because she wanted them all to continue existing as ghosts. She pretty much did what she wanted without giving what others might like a second glance. But despite all this, she seems to have an air of doing things because she thinks shes supposed to or “for the halibut”, but when she actually puts her mind to something she can do so much more and the most recent time we see her in comic shes showing sh does have the capacity to do good things, feel remorse, etc. She just doesn’t like admitting to that “weakness” so at this point, I don’t think Meenah has failed as a Thief, but she hasn’t succeeded either.
  12.
  13. Failed example: Vriska Serket, Thief of Light.
  14.
  15. LIGHT: Light, Luck, Probability, Eyes, Truth, Fortune, Something, Attention, Illumination, Information, Revelation, Meaningful, Importance, Perception, Dominance, Clarity, Definite, Identified
  16.
  17. Vriska is a pretty central and important character, and her entire characters arcs right now seems to be focusing on her challenge as a Thief, to let other people take control now and then. Which she is definitely failing horribly at the moment. She has shown before that she has had doubts about herself, about what is right or wrong, and how to know if she’s doing either, but her most recent updates seem to say, you know what, screw it, who cares whats right or wrong anymore, I’m just gonna do what I want when I want, because that’s all I know how to do anymore. She’s decided to take the permanent lead now, despite whether or not she has any followers or if they want her to take the lead for them. She’s given up her challenges, the challenge to know right from wrong, the challenge to let other people play the game and not just hog the system all the time and most importantly, the challenge to change herself as a person, to grow and mature.
  18.
  19. Instead of taking everything for themselves, A Thief’s challenge seems to be to learn how to step back and let others take the wheel for once. Let your team mates have their own agency instead of everything being dictated by you the Thief. And the way Meenah and Vriska became instant friends, despite some rough patches at first, makes me think there’s something to the old saying “Honor among Thieves.” Also having more than one Thief gives both the opportunity to solve their challenge and grow as people, as shown with Meenah, who starts realizing certain things about herself after spending so much time with Vriska. Its very possible some Thieves may never succeed in their challenges, unless they spend time with other Thieves, just to know what its like to be on the receiving end of things for a change.
  20.
  21. Thieves, being the Active Steal class, would Invert to Pages, the Passive Exploit class.
  22.
  23. For example: A Thief of Life would invert to a Page of Doom or a Thief of Hope would invert to a Page of Rage.
