  7. Regular Questions
  8. Could you provide a brief introduction of yourself?:
  9. Hello! My name is BengalShark (55_ee) I’m a male who enjoys a vast selection of activities, from auto mechanics, agriculture, computers, and of course, video games. I’m in high school and live in a rural part of my country. I’m currently unemployed and plan to be that way until I graduate from high school. I’m homeschooled and I have tons of free time over the summer.
  10.
  11. Why would you like to be staff on LemonCloud?:
  12. I would like to become a staff on LemonCloud because I want to help the server since that is what in fact the job involves. However, there are more reasons I want to be a staff that just merely that alone. One of the reasons I want to be a staff member on LemonCloud is due to the many friends I’ve made here, and to continue making friends. I had so much fun moderating the server previously, I miss putting a smile on peoples faces when I fixed a grief, or when I banned someone that was vigorously harassing, helping my friends and strangers alike. Just helping people puts a smile on my face. You see on the news a lot of people being discriminated, harassed, and just being put down on the internet, some taking drastic measures. While I don’t believe LemonCloud is hugely negative, I do believe people in any community have to deal with prejudice and harassment. I want to help make LC a peaceful place and to be completely clean of discrimination and harassment and for people to feel respected and wanted on the LC server. I don’t want to feel powerful, or superior, because really, you’re not more powerful when you’re a moderator. You merely just have more responsibility and are responsible for keeping people happy and to keep their experience as clean as possible, but it’s also very important at the same time. I want to talk to people and to help people enjoy their time more and not make being a staff member just about moderating and banning people but to make it about being a role model in the community and being friendly. This community is truly diverse from age, gender, to even nationality. Respectfully one of the most pleasant communities I’ve been a part of, I would definitely want to be part of the community more and help it.
  13.
  14. What change could you make on the server?:
  15. I have no doubt that the existing staff members are social and respectful to rule-abiding members, however, I believe with my plan for my activity to be consistent (in regard to my health) will result in a better relation between the members and the staff members, for the members not to just see the staff as someone that will ban them if they make a mistake, but rather someone that can help and can also be friendly. While this might just be high-hopes, this is a possible change I could make.
  16.
  17. What qualities would you bring to the team?:
  18. As I’ve mentioned, I’m on summer break and I’m homeschooled, I’m unemployed and have few responsibilities. I’m going to have a lot of time to play on the server. I believe I can bring activity to the staff team. What I mean by activity is not just being in one server and occasionally glancing at chat while in /v, but rather being proactive and switching servers and maybe checking the alts page, or possibly just sitting there for a couple minutes to make sure there are no arguments going on, or checking the forum reports every half hour or so, talking to members, being truly proactive. While I have no doubt that most of the staff are active and proactive when they can be, maybe someone that is proactive and active might encourage someone that is burnt out, who knows. Another quality I believe I can bring to the staff team is possibly professionalism. It’s a general habit for me to use punctuation and proper grammar when typing for anything If I do not know how to spell a word, I’ll look it up, and I also go back and read through what I’m saying. While I know that there are other aspects of professionalism, this is the one that I'm more familiarized with and don’t have to think about it. Maybe this could reflect on a staff member that has a habit of typing fast and making mistakes in spelling and grammar.
  19.
  20. Why should we choose you over other applicants?:
  21. You should consider choosing me over other applicants because of my previous long-term experience as a helper, then Jr.Moderator, and eventually Moderator. However, I don’t think that alone would be a good reason to hire me. I believe that my maturity is a good place to start. Now, I’m not going to sit here and tell you I’m the most mature person, I like to have fun. I’m not serious all the time and I want to have a fun time with the other members. However, I believe that there is a good balance between completely goofing off with my commands and being so serious that people do not like the staff team. In my opinion, this balance would be having an entertaining time with the members, but also keeping in mind that you applied for responsibility and must fulfil that responsibility over everything else when on the server. In order for me to remain professional, I will ultimately hold some sort of maturity at all times, particularly when moderating and using commands. My ability to moderate is a good starting point as well. I’m able to distinguish when someone is breaking the rules or not, for the most part. An example of this could be the word “gay.” Some people could just be talking about themselves in a respectful way, but others could be directing prejudice at others. You need to be able to comprehend the chat and to separate innocent things to rule breakings. Not being able to comprehend situations would make you a chat filter and nothing else. During my past experience as staff on LemonCloud and my experience on Ultimate Driving I’ve been known as the “chill” moderator or the moderator that is not “ban-happy”. In better terms, they thought that I was relaxed and didn’t punish when I could very well do so. I would try to defuse the situation and keep a punishment as a last resort. Obviously, this mindset does not apply to everything; discrimination, suicidal encouragement, and major disrespect and other major offences you would want to be more stricter in order to have an orderly server. Though, being lenient to first offenders of small offences could better the relationship between staff and members. I have a huge desire to become a team member as well, I really do want to interact with the community and to keep everyone happy. To further discuss my ability to moderate, I would like to bring out that I’ve grown from experience to be able to deal with situations calmly. I know the struggles that come with a position like this, and I am willing to accept the responsibilities of it. I’ve been exposed to many stressful situations while moderating and I think that I can remain calm in most situations. Additionally, remaining calm in situations would better my judgement. Moreover, while this is a little bit on the irrelevant side, my computer is perfectly able to record and to edit clips when needed. To add on my ability to moderate, being home-schooled requires a lot of organization, especially when you teach yourself with provided literature such as my situation, and I hate to keep commenting on my previous experience, but those previous experiences also required a considerable amount of organization, such as ban reports. When I had to do ban reports, I was required to store evidence in some sort of folder, make the evidence accessible to the upper-staff through Imgur or Youtube and to post the ban report in a formattable report on the game's forums in order for them to be reviewed. This was a hassle when you banned a lot of people in a little amount of time, though organization helped. I believe I can use organization not just to manage evidence, but to organize information that is needed for quick decisions while moderating. patience and thicker skin have definitely helped me in real life, and I think that it will help me deal with highly disrespectful people, it will also help me not become agitated quickly at someone causing an inconvenience. I really want to do this and I’m confident that I can fulfil the duties of a staff member on LC. A final thought would be my desire to better my work ethic, I have a drive to work as hard and as much as I can on something I enjoy, and moderation is fitting. My concluding thoughts involve my experience. While I understand that some of the durations changed on the rules, I am familiar with the current rules and I remember how they were enforced and what to look for when deciding on a punishment. I remember most of the staff and had no problem with any of them, and I recognize a lot of the everyday faces that join the server. I remember the game modes and commands for each game-mode in order to help people with questions. I remember most of the procedures when moderating, such as the recording or how to deal with alternative account and the commands involved to figure out if they are indeed an alternative account. This brief list of experiences I believe puts me over someone that is just starting out, though, I have no doubt new people will/are great helpers as well! I look forward to the opportunity to learn from some of the veterans here and from the further experiences if you guys generously choose me over others. Thank you for reading this.
  22.
  23. Do you have prior experience with being staff on a server?:
  24. Yes, I have been staff for other communities. I worked for a Roblox game called Ultimate Driving Universe, getting around 2000 concurrent players a day and had similar rules to LemonCloud. I worked for them for about a year before leaving my position. I worked for LemonCloud from 1/24/18 to 9/6/18. I’ve moderated a couple of big discord groups of Ultimate Driving and I’ve also moderated a few discords that are not related to UDU whatsoever. As far as different Minecraft servers, I worked for a server a long time ago, but it wasn’t anything notable.
  25.
  26. Do you meet all of the requirements needed to be staff?:
  27. Yes, I believe I meet all the requirements.
  28.
  29. Have you ever been punished on LemonCloud before?:
  30. I have been punished on LemonCloud. Back in 2016, I encouraged suicide to someone that beat me in KITPVP. Though, after life experiences that relate to suicide, I no longer see it as a joke and have since apologized to this person and they have long quit MC. I believe around the same time I got a few mutes for capital letters. I can’t see the history from then so I don’t remember.
  31.
  32. What has been your favourite moment on LemonCloud so far, and why?:
  33. By far my favorite moment was having almost everyone come to my plot and sign it. I still have the plot with everyone and we joked around for hours in a discord call while doing that.
  34.
  35. What does your everyday activity look like on the server?:
  36. Well, I’ve been taking advantage of the sbfire reset a lot, so I’ve been spending a lot of time there, though, I go onto survival and give time for my garden to grow and for me to collect materials. Recently, this has been my activity.
  37.
  38. What are your average active hours and/or schedule?:
  39. Monday 2 PM - 12 AM
  40. Tuesday 2 PM - 12 AM
  41. Wednesday 5 PM - 12 AM.
  42. Thursday 10 AM - 5 PM
  43. Friday 10 AM - 12 AM.
  44. Saturday 10 PM - 2 AM
  45. Sunday 3 PM - 12 PM.
  46.
  47. These are usually the hours I’m awake and not doing anything. I do however have small responsibilities such as yard work so it really varies but I can ensure 5-6+ hours a day most days.
  48.
  49. How long have you been playing on LemonCloud?:
  50. I have been playing LemonCloud since late 2016.
  51.
  52. Have you made any applications prior to this one?:
  53. Yes, I made an application in early 2018. That being the only one I made
  54.
  55. Is there anything else that you would like us to know about you?:
  56. I’ve got my school figured out, so I’m not going to leave when school starts. I planned on coming back to LemonCloud and applying after school ended, though, I didn’t expect the stats to be reset so I suppose I can’t prove that I have played the server a lot. I wanted to play a lot to show my dedication to the server and get my playing time up but you guys seem to be desperate for staff so I thought I’d apply and not miss my chance since I really want to do this. Also, there are at least 1-2 people that use the name "BengalShark" so I'm sure that you will find things that don't particularly fit to what I've said here if you look that name up on Google. Thanks for reading this application!

  58. Scenario Questions
  59. You catch your friend breaking the server rules. What do you do?:
  60. Since the rules are set up for the best experience of everyone, if I caught a friend breaking a rule I would have to consider the feelings of the ones they affected and would punish them as anyone else. Your job as a helper is to keep people happy and playing the server, and letting friends be a nuisance is not the way to do that.
  61.
  62. You noticed that one of our servers are offline. What do you do?:
  63. I would likely message one of the higher positioned people about the outage and make sure they are aware. I would then put a quick message in the discord and the shoutbox to reduce confusion.
  64.
  65. You are asked a question by a player, but don't know the answer. What do you do?:
  66. First off I would tell them to hang on, then I would likely try to research it myself real quick to see if I can find the answer. Though, in order to remain time efficient, I would message a more experienced staff member the question if I could not find the answer.
  67.
  68. You are arguing with a player who starts attacking you verbally. What do you do?:
  69. I would not attack back but talk to them nicely and try to defuse the situation if they continued I would administer the appropriate punishment for disrespect or so on.
  70.
  71. You are engaged in a (political) discussion and disagree. How do you state your opinion?:
  72. I would try to get myself out of the conversation and ask them to move onto a different discussion, but if I had to give my opinion I would try to word it in a way that seems the least offensive. Though I don’t particularly like talking about that stuff so normally I would just stay out of it or try to sway the conversation somewhere else.
