  1. [8:19 PM] Eon: Leaving the myconid hive, we took the path northeast towards the drow city, where Esker scouted out a pack of ~30 trogoldytes waiting for us in ambush. We pummeled them, but they appeared to be coerced in some manner as those who ran had their heads exploded. Reaching the drow city, we found a temple to Lolth, where a Yochlol who named itself Nephelle resides, guarding something, we got some information out it, of which the most important is probably that the world wasn't always a popsicle. Finally, we found a library and discovered that the world used to have 3 moons, but an eldritch thing ate one, making the drow weaker than the rest of the elves. The drow decided to try crash the other moons, but presumably failed.

Its head is completely covered by a strange mask, resembling that of an illithid's face, squid-like in apperance. The humanoid growls, lifting the greatsword. The greatsword lets out a low hum, as an ephemeral, psionic bond establishes between the weapon and the humanoid.

Once the quaggoth is confirmed to have significant psionic abilities, it is separated from its tribe and made into a thrall. In the process of creating the thrall, the experience and memories of a weapon master's mind will be imprinted into the quaggoth, as well as unquestioning loyalty. The result is a psionic warrior capable of wading into ranks of duergers and gith.

  1362. Compared to a normal quaggoth, the quaggoth psionblade's psionic gift is much more focused on combat, capable of forming into a magical blade of pure force, or causing harm via thrusts of psionic energy.

Quaggoth psionblades are well-equipped by their illithid masters, including a set of chain mail mind carapace armor and a greatsword that functions as a mind blade (See Volo's Guide to Monsters). While operating in the field, their psionic bond with their illithid masters sometimes allow them to be pulled away from danger at the brink of danger - if only to be processed by them to better study how to make a better future model.

  1366. The rare few quaggoth psionblades that served the hive well are occasionally permitted to join the illithid's ranks, going under a careful ceremorphosis. The resultant mind flayer isn't usually considerably different from normal mind flayers, but occasionally, they may display a distinct talent for melee psionic combat.
