  1. >Tock
  2. >Tick
  3. >You and Gilda sit in silence, until you hear footsteps approaching
  4. >A man in a white coat looms over you, with an emotionless look on his face
  5. >"I am terribly sorry, I know how long both of you have been waiting"
  6. >He looks to the window, where the moon has begun to rise outside
  7. >"But it is getting late, please go home and get some rest. We can call you in the morning."
  8. "Thank you."
  9. >You help Gilda up and you both walk outside to Sunny's car
  10. >You put the key in the ignition and drive away
  11. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DYTCmfFsTI [Embed]
  12. >You drive back towards the inner-city
  13. >You and Gilda sit in silence
  14. >A cold breeze flows through the windows, open to let in the night
  15. >Gilda pulls out her Zippo, rubbing over where the "G" stands, scrawled on the metal
  16. >You look over to her, and watch as her expression goes from numb, to pained, to broken
  17. >"FUCK!"
  18. >Gilda punches the dashboard, and starts letting out her pain in the only way she knows how
  19. >Tears stream down her face, and her grunts turn into loud whimpers and moans of grief
  20. >You look over, the numb in your heart slowly giving way to pain
  21. >Wrapping your arm around her, she buries her face in your side
  22. >You feel tears coming from your eyes, but hold them back until you get to the point
  23. >Pulling into the usual spot, you put the car into park and hold her
  24. >The tears you were holding back flow out full force and you both sit there, crying for the friend you loved
  25. >The friend you had gotten to know in two weeks
  26. >The friend she shared her pain with
  27. >...
  28. >You went too far and now you're suffering the consequences
  29. >"How the fuck did it go so wrong?"
  30. "I don't know. I think we knew it would, sometime."
  31. >Gilda shakes her head, wiping her tears with her sleeve
  32. >You just rub her hair gently, trying to give her comfort you don't feel yourself
  33. >Gilda lays her hand on your chest, both of your tears drying.
  34. >You run your fingers through her hair slowly, trying to focus on nothing but the feeling
  35. >It hurts to think about the doctor's face
  36. >It hurts to think about what happened earlier
  37. >And it hurts to think about what might happen to Sunset
  38. >You both look out onto the city, the lights giving the buildings a soft golden glow against the black tapestry of night
  39. >"She won't get away with this."
  40. "Who?"
  41. >"Rainbow. I'll be damned if she doesn't pay for what she did."
  42. "Gilda, she's going to go to prison, she's 18."
  43. >Gilda levels with your eyes, giving a glare not meant for you
  44. >"You know what I mean."
  45. >It takes a moment to register, then your eyes widen
  46. "Gilda, you can't."
  47. >She scoffs
  48. >"All of the shit she put me through, I would be damned if I fucking didn't
  49. >You would lie if you said it wouldn't be satisfying
  50. >...
  51. >Yeah.
  52. >It would be wouldn't it?
  53. >You give a resigned, yet determined sigh
  54. "Your right."
  55. "But it wasn't just her."
  56. >Gilda raises a brow
  57. "Her friends, Flash Sentry, Celestia."
  58. >You turn to look at her, a tear falling from your eye
  59. "All of them fucked her over. Rainbow just gave the killing blow."
  60. >Gilda wipes her eyes with her sleeve, before shuffling around in her pockets for her cigarettes
  61. >She lights it and takes a heavy drag while looking out the window
  62. >The rest of the night is filled with silence
  63. >And strangely, it's the most deafening thing you've ever heard.
  64. >You hope Sunset's alright
  65. >God, two weeks and you met one of the most amazing people would ever know
  66. >Your thoughts fall into a mental white noise as you try to focus on the stars
  67.
  68. >*BRRRRRRRRRRRRT*
  69. >Your eyes open to the shrill noise of a cellphone ringing
  70. >You don't remember falling asleep
  71. >*BRRRRRRRRRRRRT*
  72. >You fumble around in your pockets before your hands close around the lump of plastic
  73. >>"Call from CANTERLOT MEDICAL HOSPITAL"
  74. >>" ANSWER "
  75. >>" IGNORE "
  76. >You stare at the screen for a short while, before forcing yourself to accept the call
  77. "Hello?"
  78. >"Is this Mr. Anon E. Mous?"
  79. "Yes?"
  80. >"The doctor has requested you to come to the hospital please."
  81. "Of course, thank you."
  82. >You hang up the call and move to wake up Gilda
  83. >You push her on the shoulder a few times before she slaps your hand away
  84. >"I'm up."
  85. >Putting the car in reverse, you pull out of the point and head onto the highway towards the hospital
  86. >Looking over, you see Gilda still laying her head on the door
  87. >She just stares out the window, contemplating
  88. >The drive is long and silent
  89. >Nothing is said between either of you
  90. >You see the hospital nearing, getting closer with each minute before you come to the parking lot
  91. >You pull in and find a spot, when you turn off the car neither of you move
  92. >"..."
  93. "..."
  94. "You uh, ready?"
  95. >Her voice is barely above a whisper
  96. >"Yeah."
  97. >You take out the keys and put them in your pocket, not bothering to lock the door
  98. >Gilda gets out of her door and she looks at you before heading towards the doors
  99. >You follow her silently, the thud of her boots and the thump of your sneakers punctuating the cold morning air
  100. >You reach the doors and they slide open
  101. >The desk attendant looks up at you and then looks back at her magazine
  102. >You and Gilda walk towards the elevator
  103. >She presses the "Up" button and the doors open with a ding
  104. >You huddle in and press the button for Sunset's floor
  105. >With a rumble and shake, the elevator begins to rise
  106. >"Anon."
  107. "Yeah?"
  108. >"I hope Sunset's okay."
  109. "Me too."
  110. >After a few more seconds, the doors open and you both begin the short walk to the room
  111. >Despite the length, it feels like a mile stretch
  112. >Like the longest distance you've ever moved
  113. >As you both turn a corner, you see the doctor standing by the door
  114. >When he sees you, you can see him hide a grimace
  115. >He does so poorly
  116. >He speaks as you get closer
  117. >"Thank you both for coming."
  118. >"Cut to the chase. Is Sunset okay?"
  119. >The doctor takes off his glasses and sighs
  120. >"She..."
  121. >You don't need to him to finish the sentence to know what he's going to say
  122. >Gilda speaks up
  123. >"Didn't make it. Did she?"
  124. >The doctor looks at the ground
  125. >"I'm sorry. She passed away a while after you both left."
  126. >The words hurt you like a hot knife, but you feel cold
  127. >A stray tear falls from Gilda's face, and her voice breaks as she talks
  128. >"D- Does her father know?"
  129. >"You were the first we called."
  130. "Can we see her?"
  131. >He nods solemnly and moves to the side, opening the door for the both of you
  132. >You let Gilda walk in first and she moves to the right side of Sunset's bed
  133. >"S-Sunny?"
  134. >You walk inside and see Sunset lying on the bed
  135. >They say that the dead look peaceful, like they were sleeping
  136. >Sunset just looks... wrong.
  137. >Her bright skin is greyed and pale with a sickly cold glow about it, her lips are a gangly blue and her hair looks weathered
  138. >Atleast the locks you can see through the bandages wrapped around half of her head
  139. >"S-Sunset? God, what a mess..."
  140. >Gilda kneels down next to her
  141. >Her eyes are cold and desolate, she just brushes Sunny's hair
  142. >"I'll let you both have some time with her."
  143. >The doctor steps out, and the door closes
  144. >You move towards Gilda and stand next to her, placing your arm on her shoulder
  145. >"Fuck, I remember when we hated eachother."
  146. >Gilda laughs a little bit, and a tear falls down her cheek
  147. >"You thought I was a bitch for hating Rainbow, hell, you fuckin' tried to yell at me."
  148. >She wipes her eyes with her sleeve
  149. >"Guess that was our first fight, huh?"
  150. >You can feel her whimper, you just stay silent
  151. >"You were the first person to put up a helluva fight. And you get done in by the cunt you tried to stick up for so long ago, what a fucking joke huh?"
  152. >Gilda continues to stroke her hair, before she grabs it hard enough for her fist to shake
  153. >"What a fucking joke."
  154. >You grip Gilda's shoulder harder, tears starting to fall from your face
  155. >A lump forms in your throat and you stifle a whimper
  156. >Sunset used to be friends with Dash, same as Gilda
  157. >Before she abandoned them both, they probably had a good relationship with her
  158. >It's almost poetic
  159. >In a fucked up way, it is
  160. >Gilda starts to weep silently
  161. >"Fuck. We were supposed to graduate together and go places. Just buy a van and drive."
  162. >"WHY!?"
  163. >Gilda punches the bed and buries her face in Sunset's chest, weeping openly
  164. >You fall to your knees next to her and hold her
  165. >"Why. Why, for fucks sake, why?"
  166. >Gilda turns to you, and melts into your embrace
  167. >"Jesus Christ Anon, why. Why the fuck did it go down like this."
  168. "I don't know"
  169. >Fuck...
  170. >You stay there with Gilda, her weeping into your jacket for what feels like hours
  171. >You both stay there until the staff request you to leave
  172. >As your leaving, you see Sunset's father walk in
  173. >He's average build with untidy hair and a five o'clock shadow
  174. >He has a dirty T-shirt and denim work jeans on, must have just left a shift
  175. >You regret not asking Sunset about her family, then again
  176. >You didn't think you would only have a few weeks to know her
  177. >He walks to you both, and hugs Gilda
  178. >She melts into it, but she's beyond tears
  179. >Without a word, the embrace is broken and you both head to the elevator
  180. >Walking in, you press the button for the first floor
  181. >The elevator doors close with a thud and the elevator begins its descent
  182. >You look over to Gilda, who wears a determined expression
  183. "So, what now?"
  184. >"Take me home."
  185. "Are you sure? You don't want me to st-"
  186. >She flips around and faces you
  187. >"JUST TAKE ME HOME!"
  188. >You flinch at the sudden outburst
  189. >Gilda steps back and relaxes, shoving her hands in her pocket and facing the floor
  190. >"Sorry, just- just take me home."
  191. "Alright."
  192. >*Ding*
  193. >The elevator doors slide open, and you both walk out
  194. >You pass the attendants desk without a word, she just glances up from her magazine and goes back to reading
  195. >The sliding doors open, and you both walk to the car
  196. >When you reach it, you unlock the doors and get in
  197. >You put the key in the ignition, turn it and pull out of the lot
  198. >The drive is mostly silent, other than your attempts at talking about it
  199. >Gilda just stays silent, staring out the window
  200. >After the lengthy drive back into town, you pull up to her house
  201. >You pull into the driveway, and she gets out
  202. >"Thanks Anon."
  203. "Yeah."
  204. >She begins to close the door before she stops
  205. >"And... I'm sorry."
  206. "For what?"
  207. >She stays silent for a moment
  208. >"Nothing."
  209. >She closes the door and walks into her house
  210. >You wait until she gets inside, before you back out and drive home
  211. >When you arrive, you stop in your driveway and just stare at the wheel
  212. >Before the pain comes, and with it, the tears
  213.
  214. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DYTCmfFsTI
  215. >You are Gilda
  216. >And you
  217. >You...
  218. >Fuck.
  219. >You don't want to know what you feel
  220. >It should hurt, but you cried at the hospital
  221. >You just feel cold
  222. >Empty is a better word
  223. >You've been trying to fill the void within yourself with cheap gin and cigarettes for the past hour
  224. >Your thoughts go up with the bottle and down with the liquor
  225. >Just don't feel
  226. >Don't think
  227. >Don't think about Sunset
  228. >Don't think
  229. >Just. Don't...
  230. >You slam your fist on the table
  231. >You begin to cry, choking on the gin in your throat as you begin to sob
  232. >FUCK
  233. >You whip the bottle at the wall, causing it to shatter into large shards, gin spraying everywhere from the impact
  234. >Sunset.
  235. >The first girl who fucked you up as much as you did her
  236. >The other girl who got dropped by Dash and her friends
  237. >The only person who came to you for more than a stray cigarette or an ass kicking
  238. >Someone who accepted you for yourself, and loved you for it
  239. >You put your elbows on the table and clutch your head
  240. >SHE"S GONE
  241. >SHE'S NOT COMING BACK
  242. >>>SHE'S DEAD!<<<
  243. >You try to bury the thoughts
  244. >The pain comes in waves
  245. >You pull your jacket against yourself tightly
  246. >WHY
  247. >WHY HER
  248. >WHY FUCKING SUNSET?!
  249. >You get up and punch the wall
  250. >In a haze, you don't notice yourself walking to your father's room
  251. >You see the gun safe, and punch in the code
  252. >You open the door and grab the revolver packed away
  253. >In a brief moment of clarity you look at the gun in your hands
  254. >You stand there, tears streaming down your face
  255. >>SHES GONE<<
  256. >You put the gun to your head
  257. >>DEAD<<
  258. >You pull back the hammer
  259. >>YOU'RE ALONE!<<
  260. >Your grip tightens on the gun
  261. >>YOU HAVE NOTHING<<
  262. >You pull the trigger
  263.
  264. >You are Anon
  265. >And your eyes fly open, body covered in cold sweat
  266. >Fuck, you have a bad feeling
  267. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPjN-t_m2y0
  268. >You grab your phone from the table next to your bed
  269. >>*ONE NEW MESSAGE*
  270. >>*GILDA 8:45 PM*
  271. >The dread inside grows as you unlock your phone and tap the screen to see the message
  272. >>"Anon, I don't feel right. I'm just so fucked up. If anything happens, I'm sorry."
  273. >SHIT
  274. >You run to your closet and look through various articles of clothing
  275. >You grab an old hoodie and some jeans
  276. >You run over and grab the boots Sunset gave you and lace them up quickly
  277. >When your dressed, you run around looking for your keys
  278. >You run out of your room and see them on the table
  279. >Flying out of the house, you grab them and head for the car
  280. >You unlock the door and jump into the seat, jamming the key in the ignition and backing out quickly before speeding off down the street
  281. "Fuck, Fuck, Fuck."
  282. >The streetlights illuminate you in flashes as you pass by them
  283. >You drive past the cafe, heading past the school towards Gilda's street
  284. >Your stomach twists, but you try to ignore the feeling
  285. >What if she's hurt?
  286. >She could just be passed out
  287. >Yeah, she probably just drank herself until she blacked out
  288. >Please let that be the case
  289. >You feel yourself calm down just a little bit, but the tension in your chest doesn't loosen itself
  290. >You pass Rainbow Dash's house, seeing that nobody is home
  291. >You go further down until you come to Gilda's home
  292. >You pull up into the driveway and clutch the steering wheel for awhile
  293. "It's fine, she's okay."
  294. >You sit there for awhile, psyching yourself for anything
  295. >Goddamnit
  296. >Taking a deep breath, you open your door and feel the cool night air on your face
  297. >You walk to the door and knock a few times cautiously
  298. "Gilda?"
  299. >You don't hear a response
  300. "GILDA? YOU ALRIGHT IN THERE?"
  301. >You knock a few more times, a bit harder this time
  302. >Still nothing
  303. >Fuck, alright
  304. >She must be passed out, you can talk to her in the morning
  305. >You begin to walk to the car, but the distrust in your own thought is heavy
  306. >You find yourself standing in the driveway
  307. >She's okay, she's probably just passed out on her couch
  308. >But what if she isn't? She could be hurt, or worse.
  309. >...
  310. "Fuck!"
  311. >You go back to the door, and pound on it a few times
  312. "GILDA! OPEN UP!"
  313. >You try to turn the knob, but it's locked
  314. >After slamming your palms on it a few more times, you realize its futile
  315. "Alright, Alright."
  316. >Need to get in
  317. >You back up a few steps, and brace yourself
  318. >You sprint forward and slam your shoulder into the door, but it doesn't budge
  319. "Alright, Round two."
  320. >You back up, further this time, and sprint at the door
  321. >You slam into it, but you still get nowhere
  322. >Cursing inwardly, you walk around the sides of the house, looking for a way in
  323. >You see nothing, until you head to the back
  324. >Gilda's zippo is sitting on the ground next to a crushed pack of cigarettes, and the back door is slightly ajar
  325. >You pick up the zippo before going to the door
  326. >You open it and run inside
  327. >Theres a crack in the drywall, and shards of glass everywhere
  328. >The scent of tobacco and alcohol hangs in the air
  329. >You begin to panic as you look around
  330. "Gilda? GILDA?!"
  331. >You check her bedroom, the bathroom, and the living room
  332. >You leave the living room and see an open door at the end of the hallway
  333. >You walk towards it slowly, and before long you can see something in the dark
  334. >You squint your eyes and the form takes the shape of a...
  335. >Foot?
  336. >Wait...
  337. >Fuck no, please God no.
  338. >Just let her be passed out please.
  339. >You force yourself to walk
  340. >You can see a little more of her in through the doorsill with each step
  341. >Her legs
  342. >Then her back
  343. >And then you see her head
  344. >And what's supposed to be inside of it.
  345. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wU1hK8XXRcQ
  346. >You can't comprehend the sight
  347. >Your stomach beats you to the realization as you fall to your knees and vomit at the gore splayed across the far wall
  348. >Your stomach empties itself, but you keep dry heaving
  349. >When you can feel the knot in your stomach fall away, you look up from the floor and take in the sight
  350. >The gun
  351. >The wall
  352. >Her head
  353. "Gilda? Gilda? No, No, NO! Please God, FUCK!!"
  354. >You lunge for her, and grab her arm like it were saving you from something
  355. >It's chill sends shivers down your spine and tears down your face
  356. >You hug her chest and weep
  357. >The feeling is indescribable
  358. >You just feel broken.
  359. >The blood around you soaks into your clothes, but you don't care
  360. >You hug Gilda's chest like scared child
  361. >Scared of the future, and terrified of the present
  362. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wU1hK8XXRcQ

  381. >The first meeting
  382. >The car
  383. >The point

  387. >You shake away the last thought
  388. >Sunset
  389. >Gilda
  390. >Both of them, gone
  391. >A twisted, black part of your psyche whispers to your mind
  392. >>"Why not join them?"
  393. >You take that piece of your mind and mentally beat it to death
  394. >But...
  395. >You look over to the gun, grasped in Gilda's cold, grey fingers
  396. >You could...
  397. >...
  398. >You move your arm towards the firearm
  399. >You grab it and rub your thumb across it
  400. >It would be so easy
  401. >It would make it all stop
  402. >...
  403. >No.
  404. >No, No, You couldn't
  405. >Someone would find you, and they would feel exactly like you do now
  406. >Your parents, never around for you, would be devastated
  407. >They didn't mean it, but it's just how they put food on the table
  408. >You know they love you, and they do
  409. >You throw the gun across the room in disgust
  410. >You get up from the body, and walk to the doorway
  411. >You shuffle around your pockets until you grab your phone, opening the dial pad
  412. >>"Hello, 911, what is your emergency?"

  414. >You sit on the back of the ambulance, a sheet wrapped tightly around your blood-stained clothing
  415. >Officers are trying to question you, but their voices are like static
  416. >There, but in the background
  417. >Trying to pull you back to lucidity, but you prefer the mental limbo
  418. >It's numb
  419. >You just sit and look at the house, before you see the door open, and a stretcher with a sheet covering it comes out, accompanied by two men carrying it
  420. >They take Gilda out meticulously, careful not to drop her
  421. >The scene goes in slow motion for you
  422. >Each step takes an eternity, before they bring her to another ambulance and load her up
  423. >One of the paramedics looks at you, and your eyes meet
  424. >He gives you a pained expression, one he's probably given hundreds of times before
  425. >You look at your hands and study the creases and folds of the skin to take your mind away from it all
  426. >You rub them together, focusing on the cold flesh
  427. >The static gets louder, and more firm
  428. >Just leave me alone
  429. >Please
  430. >A hand grabs your shoulder gently, pulling you back to reality
  431. >"Mr. Mous? Please tell us what happened."
  432. >You look down at the ground, and see a few droplets of water fall
  433. >It doesn't feel like it's raining
  434. >You bring your hand to your face and realize your crying
  435. >It must be raining after all...
  436. >You clear your throat before a painful lump forms
  437. "I uh, came to check up on her."
  438. >He nods
  439. >"And?"
  440. "Well, I couldn't get in, I went around and got in through the back. When i came inside I was looking for Gilda and I...'
  441. >You both stay silent
  442. >...
  443. >...
  444. "I found her."
  445. >Your voice cracks with the statement
  446.
  447. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCbNVvnuSaY [Embed]
  448. >After some more questions from the paramedics and a few from the police, you thank them numbly before going to your car and heading home
  449. >You get a few pained looks as you leave
  450. >They've seen these things before, your sure
  451. >Some of them just hold cold expressions, for them it's just another work day
  452. >You shuffle over to the car and open the door feebly
  453. >You get into the seat and sit there for a second before turning on the car
  454. >You back out slowly, never breaking eye contact with the house
  455. >The hole inside of you grows, and you force your emotion into it, trying to fill the emptiness
  456. >You get into the street and drive away, finally breaking sight from the building
  457. >You don't cry on the way home, but you feel increasingly weak as the drive goes on
  458. >The streetlights go over your car, illuminating your cold features
  459. >You roll down the window to let in the chill of the night's air
  460. >The drive goes on silently, leaving you with your thoughts
  461. >But you block them out, and try to focus on the night that you love so much
  462. >The stark absence of light softening your eyes and the beauty of the illuminated buildings taking your mind off of the present for now
  463. >What a nice night.
  464. >A full moon giving the buildings a sombre grey glow, and the stars pockmarking the sky like holes in a black sheet tossed over the sun itself
  465. >You let a small smile escape your lips, the wind across your skin giving you goosebumps
  466. >When you wake up tomorrow, everything will dull and empty, but you'll allow yourself this
  467. >Your house comes up in your view, and you park the car in the driveway
  468. >Walking inside, you throw the keys onto the table and head for your room
  469. >You don't bother to take off your clothes, but you shut off the light and stiffly lie down on your bed
  470. >You keep your eyes open for an eternity, afraid to close your eyes.
  471. >When you do, you see Gilda with a hole in her head
  472. >*BREEEEEEEP*
  473. >*BREEEEEEEP*
  474. >*BREEEEEEEP*
  475. >You press the off button on your alarm
  476. >You didn't sleep much last night anyway
  477. >It's been about a week since the girls d-
  478. >Passed away
  479. >Today is the day you've been dreading for the past several days
  480. >At school everyone avoided you as if you were a bomb except for Fluttershy
  481. >She meant well, and she never overstepped a boundary
  482. >But you still only went through the motions, an empty smile bolted on your face
  483. >You knew she could see through it, but she left you the space you needed
  484. >You get out of bed slowly and head for the bathroom to take a shower
  485. >You glance at your clock as you head out the door
  486. >6:00 AM
  487. >Two hours until the funeral starts
  488. >You intend to make it last as much as you can
  489. >You strip your clothes and begin the morning routine as always
  490. >Shower, Shit, Shave, Teeth, Coffee
  491. >Stopping to look in the mirror, you regard yourself
  492. >You wouldn't say you look like a wreck, but definately more unkempt
  493. >You've neglected shaving and teeth for the past week, a scratchy stubble growing on your face and neck
  494. >Fuck it, you'll grow a beard
  495. >You get into the shower and turn on the water, letting the scalding liquid cascade over your body in hot waves
  496. >Letting out a sigh, you begin to wash yourself and rinse off, rushing the routine
  497. >You get out and dry off, heading back to your room to get dressed
  498. >You open up your closet to find your only suit
  499. >A black blazer with a red tie, white undershirt, dark slacks, and black wingtips
  500. >You take the articles of clothing and put them on, but you head to your father's room and grab a black tie
  501. >When you walk out, you head to the kitchen to pour yourself a cup of coffee
  502. >You open a cupboard for a mug, when your phone rings
  503. >Shuffling in your pockets, you pull it out
  504. >>DAD<<
  505. >-Brrt-
  506. >-Brrt-
  507. >You hang up on him, this isn't something you have to deal with for now
  508. >Once you pour a mug, you sit at the table staring at the grey wall across the room until the time comes
  509. >When you finish the pot, you see the funeral is to start in 10 minutes
  510. >You go to your car and drive to the funeral home
  511. >When you arrive, both caskets are next to eachother on a platform
  512. >The amount of people who arrived is slim, and it seems to be only family
  513. >Other than a figure with long pink hair dressed in a quaint black dress, a small silver chain adorning her neck
  514. >It has a raven on it, a diamond set in the middle of the bird's crest
  515. >You walk towards Fluttershy, before she turns around and looks at you, tears in her eyes
  516. "What are you doing her-"
  517. >She buries her face in your chest, sobbing lightly
  518. >Seeing Fluttershy weeping like this makes your heart lurch, and you place your arms around her in an embrace
  519. >"I sh- should have tried harder to keep Sunset around! If she didn't go to G- GIlda, if Twilight d- didn't outcast her from us..."
  520. >"If she had still been our friend, Rainbow wouldn't have killed her! If Rainbow tried harder with Gilda, everyone could have been friends!"
  521. >For a moment, you feel a deep rage inside you
  522. >Sunset had been friends with Fluttershy and the rest, but only Fluttershy had come.
  523. >You want to let the rage break out, but you snap back to reality when you realize Fluttershy hugs you tighter
  524. >She takes a moment to wipe her eyes, before she looks up at you
  525. >"Have you seen them yet?"
  526. >You shake your head, and Fluttershy takes your hand
  527. >"I'll go with you"
  528. >You make yourself walk, forcing every bit of courage into every step
  529. >A tall man with a gruff looking face and a scratchy five o' clock shadow regards you as you approach with Fluttershy
  530. >A deep, harrowing voice comes from the man. Fraught with a dull pain
  531. >"Are you Anon?"
  532. "Yes sir?"
  533. >He puts his hand on your shoulder, and looks at you with tired eyes
  534. >"I'm her father. Sunset liked you, she thought you were different"
  535. >The words make you feel warm inside, but the warmth is quickly replaced by regret, which you bury somewhere low
  536. "Thank you sir"
  537. >He nods and goes to his seat
  538. >You come to the caskets, before stopping in place
  539. >You can't do this.
  540. >Fluttershy tugs on your hand, but you stay in place
  541. >You can't see them. Not like this, not again.
  542. >You feel your heart poiunding in your chest
  543. >Images flash past
  544. >Gilda, a bottle of gin in her hand, a cocky smile on her face, and a brown bomber jacket across her shoulders. Sitting on the hood of a keyed car without a care in the world
  545. >Gilda, a hole in her head and her brain across the floor, a .32 in her hand
  546. >Sunset, cigarette in her teeth with an annoyed look on her face, fists stuffed in her black leather jacket
  547. >Sunset, splayed across a linoleum floor, blood pooling around a large gash in her head after being struck a blunt blow.
  548. >Crack
  549. >Crack
  550. >Crack
  551. >You start to shake, your breathing becoming erratic and tears coming from your eyes
  552. >No, No, No, No, No.
  553. >You can't do this
  554. >Just like you couldn't save Sunset from Rainbow
  555. >Just like you couldn't save Gilda from herself
  556. >Your a failure, it's all your fault.
  557. >You should be in the casket, not them
  558. >Not them!
  559. >The hand clutching yours holds tighter, and draws your mind away from dark thoughts
  560. >You open your eyes and see Fluttershy looking into them, staring deep into you
  561. >"Anon, you can do this."
  562. >The sentiment drowns out the thoughts in your head
  563. >You have to do this
  564. >You wipe your eyes, and walk forward, slightly crumbling from the inside
  565. >When you see them, they look so...
  566. >Peaceful
  567. >The caskets lie next to eachother
  568. >Sunset and Gilda are wearing matching dresses, they're minimal like an evening gown, but not too prim to where niether would wear them
  569. >They're eyes are closed peacefully, and they look as though they were sleeping
  570. >Like all of this was a dream, and they were waiting to wake up from it
  571. >The caskets have various trinkets inside of them, Sunset's has a brooch, a rose, and a small chunk of smooth granite
  572. >Gilda's has a whiskey bottle cap, a dollar coin, and a small jet-black stone
  573. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9jZGFrQMqE [Embed]
  574. >You choke back a few sobs, and Fluttershy squeezes your hand tighter
  575. >You take your free one, and stroke Sunset's face
  576. >Her skin is cold, yet it feels soft
  577. >You do the same to Gilda and a few sobs come out
  578. >You stand there in silence with Fluttershy, before letting go of her hand and taking out your pack of cigarettes
  579. >You pull two out and set one in each casket
  580. "One for the road, h-huh?"
  581. >You can hear Fluttershy starting to cry, and you nod before escorting her back to your seats
  582. >The priest walks forward to stand in front of the caskets facing towards the gathering
  583. >He begins to say a few prayers, but you keep your attention focused on your memories
  584. >Before you can tell, he finishes and your sitting in Fluttershy's car following the procession
  585. >A crack of thunder booms, and a few stray droplets fall onto the roof of the car, before the rain begins to pick up
  586. >The pitter patter of the rain is almost melodic, you focus on the soft thuds to pass the time
  587. >The car is silent, but it isn't uneasy or awkward.
  588. >It's more as if both of you don't know what to say, so instead you share the pain silently.
  589. >After a lengthy drive, you see a long and articulate fence with spikes on the top of the bars
  590. >Fluttershy pulls forward more and you can see a gate with the inscription "St. Lauren's Cemetary of Canterlot"
  591. >She follows the procession as the cars park, and the caskets are carried to the plots
  592. >Fluttershy grabs a large umbrella, which you both stand under as the caskets are carried
  593. >Two holes are set next to eachother, and Gilda and Sunset are set upon the lowering mechanism
  594. >The priest walks in front of the graves, and puts his hands together
  595. >"We are here to honor the memory of Sunset Shimmer, and her friend Grizelda Feathers. But, brothers and sisters, let us not see this as a time of sorrow, but rather a celebration of the lives they had led, and the people they had touched in their short times."
  596. >Sunset and Gilda's families start to break down, sobs beginning to echo across the empty graveyard
  597. >"Sunset and Gilda hadn't the greatest intentions always, but they're actions mean little compared to the love and compassion they had given to they're family, frineds, and eachother. We can rest, assured in our hearts that they will pass on peacefully and finally rest in a place that shan't take such a physical and mental toll on them, and we hope to meet them in that place one day."
  598. >You begin to shudder, but Fluttershy holds you close
  599. >She begins to cry with you, nevertheless
  600. >"Brothers and Sisters, before we release the bodies to the earth and the souls to the everafter, should any of you have anything to say please come forward and pay your final respects."
  601. >You wait for anybody to go forward, but noone does
  602. >Sunset's father is stricken with grief, and you see a dark anger flash in his eyes, a hatred for the one who stole his daughter from him
  603. >Fluttershy stays in her seat, feeling as if she doesn't have the right to speak
  604. >You feel something bring you from your seat and carry you to the front, where you stand in front of everyone
  605. >They look at you with teary eyes and grave faces
  606. "Hello, I'm Anon."
  607. >The group looks up to you, but Sunset's father stays staring at his hands
  608. "I uh. I knew Gilda and Sunset for far shorter than any of you. We had become friends about a month ago, but they became the best friends, Hell, the best people I had the pleasure of knowing. They gave me a new perspective on my life, they taught me to have fun, and they taught me compassion. I had felt like they had been my family and I feel as though they thought the same. We had become very close and the dark side of me is angry that I had been robbed of more time with them, but mostly I'm angry that they had been robbed of more time themselves. We all expect to bury our parents, but having parents bury children is... wrong."
  609. >Sunset's father looks up at you, his face is a numb mask, but you can see a hint of appreciation and respect
  610. "Sunset and Gilda were two of the most amazing people I knew, and the world got darker on the days they... passed. But we have to go on and keep them alive in memory, because they won't be truly gone until we stop respecting their memories."
  611. >The group of family is silent, and you begin to feel a bad feeling up your back
  612. "Thank you."
  613. >You walk away from the podium, and the caskets are lowered into the graves
  614. >You don't remember crying
  615. >Instead, a feeling of relief goes through you, knowing the girls can rest together.
  616. >When Fluttershy drives you back to the funeral home, she takes the keys out of the ignition and you both sit there in silence for what feels like an eternity
  617. "So"
  618. >"So"
  619. >She looks at you, her eyes still gleaming from the tears before
  620. >"Are you going to be alright?"
  621. "Yeah, I should be."
  622. >"Do you want me to stay with you?"
  623. "No, I think I just need to go do something."
  624. >"Okay."
  625. >You open up the door and step out
  626. "Hey Fluttershy..."
  627. >"Yes, Anon?"
  628. "Thanks, this all meant alot to me."
  629. >"Of course Anon. You sure you'll be okay?"
  630. "Yeah, I'll be fine."
  631. >You close the door and wave, before getting into your own car and driving away
  632.
  633. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZBmcSBoRAE
  634. >You pull into the usual spot at the point
  635. >Taking the keys out of the ignition, you open your door and stare at the horizon
  636. >The sun is beginning to fall behind the buildings and make the sky a beautiful orange-red
  637. >What a night.
  638. >You stare for a few more seconds before going to the trunk and grabbing a small paper bag
  639. >Inside of it is a small bottle of whiskey, which you take out of the sack
  640. >You go back to the front of the car and sit on the hood, unscrew the cap, and take a long pull
  641. >You stay there for a few minutes before you hear a car drive in
  642. >Fluttershy pulls in next to you and gets out of her car
  643. >She still wears the raven necklace, but she changed out of her dress into a light shawl and jeans
  644. "Hey"
  645. >"Hey"
  646. "What are you doing here?"
  647. >"I come here when I'm trying to forget."
  648. >You look at the city and take another drink from the bottle, feeling the burn in your chest
  649. "Well, hop up here."
  650. >She smiles and obliges, climbing onto the hood and sitting next to you
  651. >You offer the bottle, and after a short inner battle, she takes a small drink
  652. >Before spitting it out and coughing
  653. >You start to laugh a bit, and she giggles with you
  654. >You both stare at the sky for awhile, before she rests her head on your shoulder
  655. >"Anon."
  656. "Yeah?"
  657. >"I'm glad you're here"
  658. "Yeah, you too."
  659. >You lie there in silence for awhile, a small ache in your heart
  660. >You regret that Sunset and Gilda aren't here with you this time
  661. >But...
  662. >You look over to Fluttershy, who is fixated on the horizon
  663. >Maybe this isn't so bad.
  664. >You look back to the sun
  665. >You know you won't forget the things that happened, and that you won't be the same
  666. >You hurt inside, and you always will
  667. >But, as far as everything goes
  668. >This is alright.
